NEW BOARD WAS ELECTED AT BIG DINNER LAST NITE
THE OLIVE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION was royally entertained with a 6:30 chicken dinner last evening in the Olive Hall, when Dr. J. D Thomas acted as the host in his usual gracious manner. Seated at the table, which was partly adorned with seasonal flowers, were the forty or more guests. The main feature was the election of the new board of directors. Speaking and music was also enjoyed throughout the evening.
The officers and directors elected are as follows: Dr. Thomas, president; K. V. Wulff, secretary, and the directors, S. Maxwell, R. Paulus, C. A. Palmer, M. A. Boretz, and H. H. Sykes. This affair was the annual banquet and the Olive Ladies Circle deserves much credit for serving such a delightful spread.
Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Linnartz, now of Anaheim, but former Olive residents, were guests at the banquet.
BUSY CLASS MEETING
The Women's Bible class of the Christian Sunday school met yesterday afternoon in very busy session at the home of Mrs. N. F. Ballou, on West Center street. A good meeting resulted, among the important transactions being arrangements for election of new officers. The president, Mrs. A. M. Morrison, was empowered to appoint a nominating committee, to be announced later.
The refreshment committee, sonneting of Mrs. J. W. Belshaw and Mrs. J. H. Bell, served home-made cake and tea late in the afternoon to the indies, who were Mrs. Nora Crowley, Mrs. Clingingham, Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. D. J. Pitts, Mrs. I. W. Polling, Mrs. Howe, Mrs. J. A. Walk.
DAUGHTER GIVES MOTHER SURPRISE ON HER BIRTHDAY
A VERY happy surprise was perpetrated upon Mrs. J. S. Swindler last evening when her daughter, Miss Ethel Wiley, invited a company of her mother's friends to pass the evening, the occasion being Mrs. Swindler's birthday. Engaged in the ordinary family duties of the evening, Mrs. Swindler unsuspectingly answered the door bell, and the surprise was complete.
The guests enjoyed games and music for a time, and were later served with cake and ice cream, also portions of the birthday cake, which was one of beauty, with the word "Mother" in contrasting colors across the top. To make the occasion even more pleasant the guests presented the honoree with a pyre baking dish, greatly to her delight.
Members of the Aid society and the Ladies Bible class and their families were the guests, among them being Messrs. and Mesdames J. W. Alexander, D. J. Pitts, W. J. Morgan, J. D. Wallace, J. W. Colling, A. M. Morrison, W. M. McClelland, Rev. Howe, Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, Mrs. N. P. Ballou, Misses Harriet Stinchfield, Adele Morgan, Ethel Wiley, and the Messrs. Fred Voltz, Wiley, Jack Morgan, and little Miss Dorothy Swindler.
SURPRISE ON BIRTHDAY
A few friends of the H. C. Ruicks came in and surprised them last night, the occasion being the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Ruick. CHRISTMAS PARTY AT DUNTON HOME FOR LITTLE GIRL
INVITING a baker's dozen of her playmates to her home yesterday afternoon, Miss Barbara, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Dunton, was the happy and capable hostess at a party given to celebrate her fifth birthday anniversary.
As the event is so near the Christmas season, her mother, who assisted the young hostess, made the rooms gay with red and green color combination which sparkled with tinsel ropes and ornaments intertwined. The favors also pertained to Christmas.
The birthday cake was the delight of all the children. A large house with yawning chimney, all liced in mutable colors, down which Santa was sliding with his burdens, the cake was of unique construction as well as delicious flavor. Ice cream candies and the cake were served from the table, at which covers were placed for fifteen, who were Edith Spencer, Dorothy Berry, Eva Berry, Phyllis Gramada, Img Chandler, Margaret Stofel, Helen Stofel, Agnes Frazer, Marion Stroupe, Nell Harris, and Elizabeth and Barbara Dunton, and the Masters Wesley Lauterbach, Alvin Lauterbach and Edgar Barnes.
ROYAL NEIGHBORS TO ELECT
All members of the Royal Neighbors are requested to meet in the lodge rooms in the I. O. O. F. hall on Monday afternoon at 2:00. There will be an election of officers at this meeting, and after the close of the business session, the December birthday hostess will serve refreshments, who are the Mesdames: Ida Chapman, May Tedford, Florence Chandler, Mary Stroka, Emily Theffner, Emma Gust and Ida Mockes.
GOLDEN WEST MEETS
Meeting yesterday afternoon with Mrs. H. Hansen, the members of the Golden West club had a very pleasant afternoon over the card tables, in which five hundred was the game enjoyed Prizes were found to go to Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Adams. Poetstias and holly for the Yuletide season were used for the decorations.
From a long dining table, a deli food store continues to draw many patrons and many a housewife has stocked up her store room shelves with the canned and dried foods for sale.

STAR FIVE HUNDRED YESTERDAY
The Star Five Hundred had a very entertaining meeting yesterday afternoon at the E. H. Metcalf home on East Broadway, twelve members playing. Yellow roses and ferns were tastefully arranged in pretty clusters in several places in the rooms, exciting much admiration from the ladies.
Absorbed in their games, the players were greatly surprised when the hostess announced time was up, and scores being totaled, showed Mrs. Ward winner of first prize, Mrs. Kellenberger, second, and Mrs. Metcalf third.
Daltry refreshment was later served the guests again being seated at the small tables, laying were the Mesdames Clayes, Nowatny, Lybarger, Mann, Ward, Kellengerger, McHenry, Griggs, Hess, Quarton, Walter and the hostess, Mrs. Metcalf.
CARD PARTY WITH THE BLACKS
Mr. and Mrs. James Black of North Lemon street entertained a company of friends last evening at cards, five hundred being the game Mrs. Black had made her home wonderfully pretty with Christmas trimming and colors, sparkling tinsel holly, poinsettias and red and green streamers featured the seasonable affair.
Several rounds of the interesting game were played and when they were concluded it was found that the prize belonged to Mrs. Van Horn who had high score. Luncheon was then served from prettily decorated small tables, and the good points of the game were reviewed.
The guests were the Mesdams and Mesdames Newberry, Gordon, Keithley, Glelow, Mock, and the Mesdames Rose Van Horn; Eugene Adams, and Fern Weber; who with the host and hostess greatly enjoyed the evening together.

A number of the Anaheim younger set formed a merry theatre party and motored to Los Angeles last evening to witness the play "Macbeth" at the Mason opera house. After the show the crowd took dinner at one of the popular cafes. Included were the Misses Dorothy Case, Dorothy Decker Muriel Brehner, Jessie and Ruth Coons, Mrs. R. L. Ccons, all of Anaheim, and Mrs. C. L. Montgomery, Mrs. Carver, Montgomery and the Misses Louise and Gertrude Montgomery, of Santa Ana.
ENCAMPMENT ELECTS OFFICERS
The L.O.O.F. encampment held an important meeting last night, election of officers occupying a considerable time. Several applications for membership were received, and on December 23, the date of the next meeting, the patriarchal degree will be conferred upon a large class.
The new officers chosen are as follows: high priest, O.T.Callor; chief patriarch, C.J.Mauerhan; senior warden, Lewis Strutman; recording scribe, Henry A.Mang; financial scribe, E.B.Johnson; junior warden, Frank Summons; treasurer, Oliver Hill; trustee, Burd V.Eebe.

The Martez club held the regular meeting Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Emma Gribben, and a pretty affair it was, with elaborate decorations of tinsel ornaments, red and green streamers and holly, all to accentuate the Christmas season.

C.E.'S AT DAY HOME
In compliment to the season,, Miss Marjorie Day beautifully decorated her pretty home on County road, for the coming of the Christian Endeavor society, the members of which were her guests last evening. Red and green were used in living and dining rooms, dark red roses in clusters on the tables, with similar entwining the electrolayers, forming the decorative scheme.
A short business meeting was held,
in which plans for the annual Orange County Christian Endeavor Christmas treat for the county home family was arranged. This will be given on Christmas eve., and a committee from the Placentia and Anaheim societies will supply refreshments.
Games and music gave much pleasure, after which refreshments of ice cream mand cake were served. Miss Day was assisted by her mother in entertaining, the guests being the Misses Beth Walker, Helen Hunt, Ruth, Alice and Dwina White, Lamb.
