Drilling on the General Petroleum's Bixby No. 1 is now close to 3.,900 feet. The formation shows sandy shale, but no oil indications. The National Crude drilled out the cement at 3100 feet and is now balling for a water test. Success on shutting off the water will mean that this company will be on the production list soon. The Oceanic Oil Co. is bailing for a test on the system. This was spread over the ground and on the hillsides, with the result that the made-to-order desert appeared to be the real thing. And all with but one object—to entertain the motion picture fan.
