High School Notes
The first basketball game was played on the local grounds last evening with Santa Ana. This was merely a practice game and was played in four quarters. Men playing yesterday were Captain Clayes, Cook, Tuna, Newkirk, Giese, Mann, Fergus and Hoch. The score was something around 28 to 15.
Coach Youngman is proud of his team this year and expects great results. Some of the men are new to the game but show promising ability. The coaches of the county met Monday evening to frame a schedule. This will appear later.
Tomorrow after school will be the first game in the girls' basketball league. Orange high will send a fast team to clash with the local players who have been practicing hard and long. The small sum of 15 cents will be charged for admission.
Placentia News
PLAGENTIA, Dec. 7. (Spi.) Sunday night about 10:30 Joachim Queyrel was awakened from his slumbers by a bright light in their windows and on investigation found the building alongside, owned by him and occupied by a garage, to be in flames.
The fire departments from Fullerton and Anaheim responded in record time to the haasty call. Fullerton got here first and promptly turned a huge stream of water on the burning building, which was insured. The efficient work of the departments saved the bakery building on the west. Lucy's Meat Market on the east, is a brick building which made it easier to protect. The origin of the fire is unknown. Fortunately for the rest of the town, the terrific wind which had been blowing for two days and nights had died down for a while. Later it came up agath for a few hours.
Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Dave Lomke was hostess to the "500" club. High score was won by Mrs. Howard Lucy with Mrs. Arthur Andersen a close second. Mrs. A. L. Johnson was awarded consolation.
Those playing were Mrs. Howard Lucy, Mrs. Arthur Andersen, Mrs. A. L. Johnson.

FOR SALE
20 acres (1744 trees) which unquestionably stands unchallenged as the best orange grove in this section. A grove with a record, a grove with a future. There is not one weak feature attached to this offering. Upon inspection one becomes impressed with the size of the trees, their vigor, health and thrift condition. The soil is of the finest, setting indicates that it will be one of the heaviest, producing 20 acres in Orange-co. This is a grove which has received not only the best care, but all work has been done by the owners themselves. Its location is ideal situated in city limits, 3 blocks from the new postoffice, with frontage on 3 streets. The only reason this splendid grove is on the market is due to one of the owners being desirous of returning east. It is offered for sale at a ridiculously low figure, and we are prepared to produce figures which will show an income of 22 per cent. This is your one big opportunity to purchase a grove which is now increasing in value. Don't wait until the fruit colors up. Don't wait until the owners change their minds but buy now.
5 acres of 5-year-old Valencias that would do your heart good to see. The trees have an exceptionally heavy setting for next year, with every indication of siding up well. Soil conditions fine. This grove is all piped. There is a nice home, all modern, with rare
