CURTAIN RAISER TO FEATURE PROGRAM
Tonorrow night's curtain raiser at the weekly boxing show of the Anaheim Athletic club promises to be a scream from belt to bell if the advance dope on the two principals, Oyster Loaf Joe and Battling Lazerus is O. K.
According to their respective managers and trainers, Police Officers Geo. Moody and Tex Choate, two of our finest and bravest of the local guardians of the peace, they have a couple of world beaters in these boys. Moody believes that Oyster Loaf Joe is a real corner and that he will snow Tex' battler under in great style tomorrow night. The Oyster one has a wicked wallop, says Geo., and when it connects on the chin of Tex' battling one it will be "curtins."
However, Tex is not worrying over the result for he thinks that Lazerus is all there and is well able to take care of himself. Besides, when it comes to punching ability, Tex says he has been unable to hold his battler's sparring partners for any length of time as they all claim he hits too hard for them and is too rought.
Both boys will weigh in the neighborhood of 190 lbs. They are strong huskies—built on the lines of Julius Caesar, and it is said, they are real Jack Dempseys for action.
All Fullerton is set up over the appearance of their good little man, Johnny Golindo, who meets Kid Rublo from Riverside, cousin of Ad Rubldoux, the latest Vernon sensation. Rublo, like his cousin Ad, is scrappy youngster, and Young Rublo will have to step out to put anything over on him. Boys are clever performers and punch as well. It looks like it be a top notch affair.
A few years ago the high schools of the south put out only one football team for interscholastic competition. This restricted the honor of playing and the benefit derived from it to 15 or 20 who had the weight, speed or previous experience required and, for the most part, it gave the small man no chance to distinguish himself. In view of this circumstance, light-weight teams were organized and finally recognized by the Calif. Interscholastic Federation and allowed to play off for the championship.
Fullerton's first team of this kind was organized two years ago. It was captained by Philip Schrott and coached by Jack Fahs. They defeated all comers and finished their season by defeating John Muir high.
The next year they competed their league season without being scored upon but were defeated by Venice. They were coached by Glenn H. Lewis, a graduate of Whittier and captained by Merill Gregory.
In the present season, Captain Paul Elder has led his team to victory in every game which had any bearing on the championship of Sou-Calif. They have won their league championship and will meet Pasadena in the semi-finals for the championship of Sou-Calif. Friday afternoon. Those who have watched the progress of light-weight football can testify to its growing popularity. Those who attend, the game on Friday will see something worth seeing. So come out and back the team which Coach Lewis and his faithful followers have worked hard to produce.

Jack Iman, the hard-hitting local middleweight, who boxes Jack Thomas, another hard hitter from Salinas way, in the feature event, has been training every day and promises to report in tip-top shape.
Jimmy Lloyd hasn't boxed for several weeks and he is 'rarin' to go. In the other bout, Ernie Farren, another good little fellow who created a favorable impression among local fight bugs at last week's show meets Teddy Cruz, a hard boiled gent from San Pedro. This will be Cruz first appearance in the local ring.

UNWRITTEN LAW USED BY ESKIMOS EDMONTON, Ont., Dec. 1. The "unwritten law" is not exclusively a white man's statute. A strange tale of a lynching by Eskimos on the Arctic coast has been brot by Corporal E. N. Cornellus, recently returned from Herschel Island and Corporation gulf.
Ahak murdered Agluetuk in Kongermust. This village lies far to the east of Ft. McPherson. The murder it was said, was in cold blood.
Ahak went off across the tundra on a hunting expedition. For many months he hunted muskox and caribou. The snow was deep when he returned with his dogsled piled high with furs and meat.
No shouts of welcome greeted him. The village folk were silent. As he strode among the huts they bent black looks upon him. Ahak knew the meaning of this reception.
He went to his igloo, took off his worn hunting clothes and arrayed himself in his best garments. Then he sat down upon the skin of a polar bear and waited.
Corporal Cornellus arrested Kasahovi and Amokugu and took them to the police barracks on Herschel Island. The two Eskimos will be brot out to civilization for trial next spring.
COYOTE'S TOP SPEED, 25 MILES AN HOUR EDMONTON, Alta., Dec. 1. BP chasing coyotes and antelopes with a motor car, an Alberta sportsman has shown that the average coyote can not run faster than 25 miles an hour. Occasionally a coyote would attain a speed of 35 miles per hour for the first mile, but the succeeding miles registered a marked drop. Antelopes were overtaken without difficulty.

SHUTS OFF WATER AFTER 3 MONTHS
Montebello
After trying for a water shut-off for three months it looks like the Arcadia Oil Co. has got a job at 2828. The casing test showed no water and the result of the cementing awaits the Mining Bureau's decision. With the water shut off the Arcadia expects to get production in the next 200 or 300 feet.
At Scott-Arnold No. 1 the Columbia Oil Co. got out of the fishing job at 2980 and is ready to go ahead. No. 4 Adobe stands cemented at 3100 feet.
The Comanche Oil Co. has cleaned out La Merced Manly No. 1 to 2800 feet and will endeavor to put this well on production soon. Calkins No. 1 is to be drilled to 4,200 feet, the idea being to pick up the deep producing sands from which the St. Helen's Eggleston produces.
At best the Keeler Oil Co.'s Walters No. 1 looks like a small well. The well completed at 3865 has been on a production test for a week and is doing about 100 barrels.
On the McGinley property No. 14 at 2550 is the only drilling well. No. 1 stands idle at 2300, and No. 15 set 94 feet of stove pipe and is standing.
By rigging up on the Mulholland No. 4 the Petroleum Midway will get as close as possible.

EXCHANGE FLOWERS WITH CHINA, JAPAN
WASHINGTON, Dec. 1.-Two features of particular interest at the twentieth annual chrysanthemum show held by the United States department of agriculture were the Chinese seedlings and the 50 or more varieties of Japanese chrysanthemums shown in this country for the first time. The Chinese varieties were grown from seeds purchased by the department last January. They are of the pompon or bush type, and for the most part are pale yellow-centered flat blossoms, with delicately curled white or tinted petals, or like the daisy chrysanthemum, white or pink. In connection with the exhibit of Chinese seedling chrysanthemums, a system of exchange has been proposed by the University of Nanking whereby a number of interesting and promising types of American-grown plants will shortly be sent to China.

GOVERNOR'S WIFE ADVOCATE OF WORK
KANSAS CITY, Dec. 1.—Mrs. Samuel R. McKelvie, wife of the governor of Nebraska, told an audience of women at the country club coffee house that "every woman should work every day with her hands."
"If you cannot afford to keep a maid, people will know it, and they'll respect you more if you keep within your income by doing at least a part of your housework," said the young wife of the governor, who was introduced as a "superwoman" because of her recent achievement in doing all her own housework in a mansion of 21 rooms.
"Homemaking" was Mrs. McKelvie's topic, and her talk was a plea for more real homes, more firesides and fireside councils.
OLD MINING CAMP GETS MOVIE THEATRE
VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. Dec. 1.—Gold Hill, pioneer mining camp of the Virginia City district, has a movie show. This raises a discussion among oldtimers as to the history of theatricals in the town. Many insist that Gold Hill never had a theater. One pioneer, however, says that Booth and Barrett once played a week in the town in its bonanza days, making $10,000 by the stopover. In support of this statement another patriarch declares that there was a theater on Main-st in the sixties, next to Frankel's stores, where travel companies presented the drama of the time.
BETTER IN SAN FRANCISCO
Summary of reports from eight representative department stores of San Francisco, made public by John Perrin, chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank, shows October business 18 per cent better than that of Sept. The decrease from Oct. 1920, is only 1 per cent. Considering lower prices this indicates a larger volume of business than a year ago.

5 acres of 5-year-old Valencias that would do your heart good to see. The trees have an exceptionally heavy setting for next year, with every indication of siring up well. Soil conditions fine. This grove is all piped. There is a nice home, all modern, with garage, which makes this proposition exceptionally attractive. We doubt if there is another 5 acres, which can compare with this. Anyone purchasing this beautiful grove will feel greatly satisfied especially when the fruit colors up. Better look into this before it is too late.
10 acres 8-year-old Valencias, setting and soil A-1. Grove all piped. This grove can be purchased at your own figure.
