Entered at the Postoffice at Anaheim, Calif., as second class matter.
Uncle Sam has a brand of diplomacy that is superior to any that the Old World has produced.
The American small boy is heartily in favor of the naval holiday, in the hope that the ten-year proposal may be adopted as the basis for the school holiday.
Possibly Uncle Sam made peace as slowly as he did so that no other country could up and shout at him, "What's your hurry?"
The populace and the student body go into no paroxysms of emotion when a student makes a touchdown in scholarship. They do acquire learning at colleges and universities, but there is no excitement over it.
A clear and keen conscience is one of the best of assets. There is more real happiness in it, even though it live in poverty, than there is in millions dishonestly acquired.
America is not an asylum of archists and advocates of violence. This class of alien ranks below zero in the estimation of loyal Americans. There is no room for the violents in this country.
The reign of prosperity in California is brightened when the rains begin to fall. Winter precipitation is vital to this state. Without seasonal rain in the lowlands and snow on the heights California would be an unredeemed desert. But with these blessed downpours, sent with benignant regularity by a benignent Providence, this state blossoms, and produces prodigiously, and thrives, and is one of the greatest of the sisterhood of commonwealths.
The Armistice Day just passed will be noted in history for its elevating of the soldier of the ranks—the common man—to the level, in general appraisal and appreciation, that should be his Just as the commonwealths.
POSTAL SERVICE TO AID HUNT FOR MISSING
Very human is Postmaster-General Will Hays. His humanizing processes, introduced into the postal service, have elicited much favorable comment. He is looking solicitously to the welfare of the men and women engaged in the service. He is inspiring them to give the best that is in them to improve the handling of the mails. He is bringing the service into direct contact with the people, in cooperative spirit. His innovations have been accepted with zestful interest all around.
That the Postoffice Department shall give assistance in finding missing persons is the latest order put forth by Mr. Hays. This projected service is to be hedged about by requirements which will save it from becoming ridiculous and running into channels manifestly improper. Postmasters are directed to scrutinize closely each and every case of persons reported missing. In all instances of genuine disappearance wherein relatives and loved ones are poliantly distressed, the facilities of the postal service for finding persons are to be brought into play. This is announced as being "another step in bringing the postoffice nearer to the people and making it a little more human." This humanizing is a welcome evolution. It makes the postal service more than a mass of human machinery, moving and functioning mechanically. It emphasizes the flesh-and-blood quality. It brings postmasters, clerks and carriers into feeling relations with the public, and intimately contacts them with the public's problems.
Postmasters, clerks and carriers keep in close touch with local affairs and with the dwelling place and daily career of the great mass of individuals constituting the population. It is possible, in the performance of AMAL. THOMAS FLOWER,

SELL NEARLY 250 ACRES CITRUS LAND
Practically the entire piece of 250 acres in the Cerro Villa Heights subdivision near Villa Park has been sold, according to the C. B. Berger Co., exclusive agents. The subdivision was the property of the Jotham Bixby Co., of Long Beach, and was sold in parcels of five to 25 acres. The land is unusually choice and has been sold for Valencia orange production.
According to several prominent dealers here recent sales of Orange-co citrus groves have been practically confined to experienced growers, who already have large holdings in the county.

“Your Money’s Worth Almost Human.” This humanizing is a welcome evolution. It makes the postal service more than a mass of human machinery, moving and functioning mechanically. It emphasizes the flesh-and-blood quality. It brings postmasters, clerks and carriers into feeling relations with the public, and intimately contacts them with the public’s problems.
Postmasters, clerks and carriers keep in close touch with local affairs and with the dwelling place and daily career of the great mass of individuals constituting the population. It is possible, in the performance of their duties, without irksomeness, to be on the alert and to make inquiries which, in many instances, doubtless would result in finding lost persons and thereby relieving much acute distress. This undertaking is worth praising.
