News of Fullerton Starbuck Road Case Seen Behind Recall The Starbuck road case, which has smouldered for the past six years, burst into active flame again when City Trustee L. P. Drake was threatened with recall. In a letter to Drake which was read before city trustees, William Starbuck, prominent rancher, formerly manager of the Fullerton telephone company, and for many years in business, who has been the storm center of debate in the road case for a number of years, declared that arrangements to set into motion the recall machinery have been virtually completed. Starbuck's letter reads: "I wish to give you a square deal (although I am sure you have not given me one) and tell you what I am doing. "We are all sure this road matter could be settled, were it not for your leading the fight for it. "I now have arrangements virtually complete for a recall. "I am again going to put this up to the people and see if they will speak as plainly as they did before. "This (and some other things) will be the issue. "I am willing again to trust the people. "Most respectfully, "WILLIAM STARBUCK." For many years disputes have marked the proposed opening of the Starbuck road, which joins Buena Park road. Ranchers recently took the matter out of the hands of city trustees when the latter appealed to the courts. The trustees retaliated by striking the petition off the calendar. Drake, who has been opposed to Starbuck, it is said, has insisted that the road case be replaced on the council calendar. This action, it is asserted, led to Starbuck's recall threat. WINDING UP WEEK'S TOMATO SHIPMENT WINDING UP WEEK'S TOMATO SHIPMENT The Northern Orange-co Produce Growers' Ass'n is cleaning up on the packing of tomatoes today for this week it was announced this morning. There are still some tomatoes coming in from the foothills and probably will be for the next two weeks, but not enough to keep the packers steadily busy. Only pinks and reds are being shipped. The green ones will not be shipped in their present state since, because of the frost, it might turn out that they would spoil instead of ripen. The mixed shipments are being sent to Los Angeles, since there is not enough to send by carload lots. DELIGHTFUL SURPRISE Mrs. L.
