PLACENTIA HOUSES SHIP 1700 CARS The three Placentia packing houses have had the largest year in the handling of oranges that they have ever had, the total shipments having been 1770 cars from Placentia alone. The Placentia house of the Placentia Orange Growers Assn., closed the valencia season Monday. There is some off bloom to be shipped yet but the total for the season will be 700 cars. Last year the house shipped approximately 650 cars and next year they expect to have a 20 per cent increase over this year. The naval season will open about Jan. 1st, though the house may pack a few cars for the Christmas trade. The Placentia Packing Co. shipped their last car of fruit for this season the middle of October. Their shipments totalled $10 cars of oranges and lemons. The Placentia Mutual Orange Growers Assn. is finishing the off bloom valencia crop this week, having finished the valencia crop proper about ten days ago. The crop of oranges and lemons for the season will total 760 cars, a considerable increase over the 492 cars of 1920. The outlook for next year is particularly good, the house estimating the crop at 1000 cars. Norma Talamadge is seen today at the California in "The Sign On the Door."
