Society: Clubs: Lodges: Churches PLANS SHAPING FOR BIG SUCCESS OF FEDERATION SANTA ANA club women are on tip toes these days in anticipation of the annual convention of the Federated Women's clubs of the southern district, which opens there in First Presbyterian church next Tuesday. Accommodations for the two hundred delegates expected are being eagerly sought and an appeal has been sent to all homes in the county seal and vicinity to assist in making the occasion one to be remembered. Social features are arranged for "All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl," to paraphrase a little, and two of the larger affairs will be the big reception on Wednesday night in St. Ann's Inn, and the dinner party on Thursday evening, in the same delightful place. Mrs. J. E. Gowan, of Santa Ana, is chairman of the arrangements committee. Another splendid feature is the proposed motor ride over the county, this likely being on Friday afternoon. Prominent among the delegates will be Mrs. W. A. Fitzgerald, state president of Federated Women's clubs. She is on the program for an address, although her subject has not been announced. Mrs. Fitzgerald recently addressed the open forum in San Bernardino with a vital and inspiring talk. Invitations from neighboring towns are reaching the chairman on social courtesies, Mrs. Susie Rutherford, Newport offering the delegates a ride on the bay, Costa Mesa inviting them to drive to their little city, and others. Anaheim Ebell club will be represented at the meeting by three formal delegates, with alternates, and many other members will attend several of the sessions. HOUTS FAMILY THEATRE PARTY Members of the Houts family formed a motor and theatre party last year going to Long Beach where RED CROSS ROLL CALL STARTS OFF MOST FAVORABLY The opening day of Red Cross roll call resulted in addition of new names and renewal of membership of many others, according to statements given out at headquarters by Chairman Vic. LaMont. Although yesterday was a holiday, it was the day when everybody was again brought to realization of the inestimable value of the Red Cross during the dark days of three years ago, and their fees and contributions were cheerfully given. Renewed efforts will be made today by the solicitors, but if every friend of American Red Cross will send or take in their dollars without solicitation, it will save the committees much work and time. Chairman LaMont is anxious to secure the services of ten ladies who will contribute about two hours each day to solicitation for the roll call, making a house-to-house canvass. He may be reached through headquarters or by phoning 398-W. Books for soliciting may be left at Mr. LaMont's home, 128 West Chartress-st., and blank ones secured at the same place. ROYAL NEIGHBORS MEETING The Royal Neighbors of America will hold the regular business meeting Monday evening, Nov. 14, in L. O. O. F. hall. All members are urged to be in attendance. CANTEEN LADIES IN PARADE Among the most notable entries from Anaheim in the Armistice day parade yesterday in Santa Ana, were the two cars entered by Anaheim branch of the Orange county canteen, which did such unitting service in Fullerton and Orange during the war. The cars of Mrs. J. A. Clayes and Mrs. B. F. Sidman were appropriately trimmed with flags, intertwined with ropes of smilax, and driven by their owners. Riding with Mrs. Clayes was Mrs. Ralph Maas, and with Mrs. Sidnan, Mrs. Carter, Mrs. J. T. Lyons, Mrs. Chamberlain and Miss Frances Backs. All the ladies wore their canteen uniforms, gowns with blue vells, making a very effective feature addition to the many cars contributed by Anaheim. SANTA ANA TO GET BIG POULTRY SHOW Southern California Poultry Show, which proposed to open its gates here, Dec. 13-17, has procured an adequate show hall at Santa Ana, and asks that Anaheim chicken fanciers get behind the enterprise, with exhibits and by their consistent patronage. It was impossible to hold the show here, on account of insufficient space. The local Chamber committee had hopes of securing the Kraemer waterroom on South Los Angeles-st, but found it doubtful if this space would be available at the time for opening. This show, if carried out yearly, will be an attractive and profitable feature for Orange county, and will draw hundreds of valuable exhibits from all parts of the Southland.
