FINAL WORKOUT FOR U.S.C. HELD TODAY
Stepping through their final workout before traveling to Berkeley, where on Saturday afternoon they will tackle the Univ. of Calif. U.S.C. went thru a short scrimmage this afternoon.
Coach Elmer Henderson announced that he will give the players a rest tomorrow, but that the team would hold a short signal workout on the Berkeley gridiron Friday afternoon.
With the exception of Charley Dean, captain and backfill of the squad, who is suffering from a heavy cold, the players are in excellent shape.
The team, 32 strong, will leave Los Angeles for Berkeley tomorrow after lunch. A large number of fans will accompany the squad, but the main destination of Los Angeles rooters will sail on the steamer Yale for San Francisco Friday.
Evidently Henderson expects his team to smash thru the Bears' line at every opportunity during the early part of the game instead of opening up or attempting end runs, for today he fitted each member of the squad with new head protectors and new shoulder pads, making the Trojan machine appear like a small army of iron-clad warriors.
It is probable that Henderson will start the same buckfield against California as that which faced the Pomona given last Saturday. This means that Kincard, Deah, Leadingham and Tiernan will start off for the local squad.

S. second team will make a desperate effort partially to wipe out the sting of defeat administered the first team last Saturday by Santa Ana by doing their best to show Santa Ana seconds this afternoon that the Fullerton second team can play—and can win. Every nerve will be strained to show that Fullerton players can still kick Santa Ana players.

SHOT AT PRANKSTER STRIKES BY-STANDER
LA HABRA, Nov. 2.—(Spl.) Edward Wolfe, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Wolf, met with a painful accident when as spectator of the Halloween pranks of the boys, he was shot in the legs by some unknown person while closely walking away from the scene of their mischief. The shot was fortunately small and unless complacently arise the young man will be all right in a few days. Earlier in the evening the younger boys had scattered baled bean straw all over the town. Then the older boys took a hand and tidied down the alarm on the fire house and the whistle on East Second-street, which called out all the volunteer department, as well as the staid stay at homes. This incensed the residents and it was kept on many places and it is supposed that whoever did the shooting was an injured party and as usual the innocent one was made the goat. No arrests as yet have been made.

A wedding of considerable interest to people of La Habra and East Whittier, where the greater portion of the bride's his has been spent, occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Healton, of 137 East First-st., on Tuesday evening, when their daughter Anna, became the bride of Charles A. Barnett, formally of Alberta Canada, but for many months residing at the home of Macy Smith on the State highway. The simple ring service was performed by El Rev. George A. Deshaker, pastor of the Past Whittier Friend's church, and took place beneath a bower of greenery and yellow and white chrysanthemum. The Gainty bride was gowned in a dress of white georgette crepe, with wee ruffles and silver flowers. She wore no adornment but a string of handsome pearls, the present of the groom.
After a simple collation that was traced to 30 intimate relatives and friends, said said on Red Sox stars Everett Scott and Sam Jones are reported to be involved in a deal with the Tigers for Howard Ehmke and Bobby Veach while Stuffy McInnis is said to be on his way to the Yankees for Wally Pipp and two others.

ARCADIA CUTS OUT CEMENT 4TH TIME
Montebello Field
Drilling out cement and making a test for the fourth time the Arcadia Oil Co. hopes to get a shutout so that drilling can be resumed at 2975. No well in the Montebello field has resisted all efforts to shut off water as stubbornly as the Arcadia.
The Comanche Oil Co. will soon add new protection to the Montebello output. At the Manly a string of eight-inch was set and cemented at 2680. Calkins No. 1 is rigging up for rotary to go deeper. The idea is to get the Calkins into the deep Eggleston sands and make a big well out of it.
Keeler No. 2 was finished at 3865 and went on production. Today this well is pumping about 300 barrels of fluid of which close to 50 feet in water. No. 1 at 3085 is fish.

REDONDO WELL WILL BE DRILLED DEEPER
Redondo
Satisfied that there is a deep oil sand carrying light oil at Redondo the Chandler Canfield is making preparations to go on down with Redondo No. 1. At 3035 this well started off with an initial production of 200 barrels well, but like all oil top sand wells it did not hold up. Redondo, like all other Southern California fields, is believed to have a second sand and in this sand the C. C. M. O. will bring in a real oil well soon.
The Union Oil Co.'s Sommors No. 1 now drilling at 4350 is in brown shale and shell. This well is falling into the doubtful class and will probably not be a producer. The Union's Redondo well on the Francis lease is drilling at 2600 and has some showings.
