Society: Clubs: Lodges: Churches FORMER LOCAL GIRL GIVEN PARTY AT LONG BEACH HOME TO COMPLIMENT the birthday anniversary of Miss Virginia Calloway of Long Beach, a former Anaheim girl, a number of her young friends motored over to her home Saturday evening and helped her celebrate her natal day. The girls took sandwiches, cake, saled and other numerous good eats and the mother of the honoree furnished ice cream and cake. The table had pretty decorations of Hallowe'en colors. Black cats, witches and other decorations were used about the walls. The favors were witches' cauldrons and when the guests pulled the strings the end of each string revealed a paper and on which were their futures. The evening was pleasantly spent with dancing and games. The young people were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J. Kellenberger and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Houts. The party was composed of Misses Pauline Houts, Marcia and Clara Carmichael, Bessie Renner, Marcella and Helen Weber, Theodore Hager, and Doris Eden. The honoree received many pretty gifts as remembrances from her friends. ALL DAY FIDELIS MEETING An all-day meeting of Fidellis class will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at the home of Mrs. G. H. Goodale, 820 South Los Angeles-st. Meet at the church at 10 o'clock for transportation. The usual covered dish luncheon will be served at noon, and the business meeting will occur at 2 o'clock. A good attendance is especially requested so the plans for the bazaar may be completed and future work planned. ACCEPTS NEW POSITION Miss Bernice Smith has accepted a position with Boadway Bros., in Pasadena, and will take up her new duties November 1. Miss Smith has served as cashier with the C. Penney company store in Anaheim the past year, and has made many friends both in business and social circles. She will reside with her sister, Miss FIFTEEN YEARS AS PASTOR Rev. J. A. Stevenson of the First Presbyterian church of Santa Ana, has just completed the fifteenth year of his pastorate there, and in his sermon Sunday morning based his discourse largely on the facts and figures of that period, telling of the growth of the church and its societies. During the war Rev. Stevenson was in France, doing his bit, which was no small bit, but the pulpit was supplied by his brother, T. E. Stevenson. BIRTHDAY DINNER FOR SISTER Miss Edythe Hayward was the charming hostess at a dinner party at her home on Adele-st, last evening in honor of the birthday anniversary of her sister, Mrs. Wm. Young. After the dinner the time was spent in music and conversation. The color scheme was carried out in orange and black. Covers were laid for the honoree, Mrs. Young, the hostess Miss Hayward, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Shaffer, Miss Clara Heinze, Bill Young and Wm. Hayward. WILL MAKE HOME HERE Mr. and Mrs. William Maple of Oklahoma, formerly of Anaheim, with their son and daughter, have come back to Anaheim to make this their permanent home. MRS. McALLISTER HOSTESS The West End Country Club will be entertained Friday afternoon by Mrs. W. T. McAllister at her home on N. West St. All members are urged to be present. MASONS HAVE CHICKEN DINNER The regular monthly Masonic meeting will be held at the local Masonic temple Wednesday night by the Orange-Co Masonic club. It was announced today by George Jackson, local master. There will be a chicken dinner at 6:30 o'clock. The meeting will be addressed by Reynold D. The rooms were appropriately decorated in Halloween effect and lighted with Japanese lanterns. Soon after the guests arrived, a grand march was played by Mrs. Hiltscher, in which all participated. Dancing and games were the favored amusements. Dainty refreshments were served at a late hour, these furthering the seasonal effects.
