ANAHEIM LOSES IN FOOTBALL TRAGEDY
It was a tragedy enacted in four parts—that is, a grimiron tragedy—on the high school athletic field Saturday afternoon when Anaheim's high football aggregation tried in vain to stay defeat at the hands of the Santa Ana squad, with the battle ending in the one-sided score of 55 to 0, with the home boys on the short end.
It was ragged football, replete with fumbles, the outcome never being in doubt from the beginning of the second quarter.
From a football standpoint, Santa Ana's raggedness was as pronounced in the first two quarters as the local squad.
Hostilities opened with the visitors kicking off to Anaheim. Cook receiving the ball. Cook reached the middle of the field before being downed by the hefty Cook.
Only three did the local squad make first downs, and on two of those occaions Capt. Cook carried the pigskin thru for substantial line gains.
Knight left half of the visitors, arrived in the opening minutes of the second quarter, and from then on it was a succession of touchdown until the last ninety per cent of Anaheim's team were Cook and Clayes, the two halfs who made practically every gain made by the local bunch and also held more than their share on the defense.
Coach Youngmen's boys made several attempts at passing, but failed on all but two occasions, these, however, notting only small gains.
Cook of Santa Ana, carried away the stellar honors of the visitors, his punting and line plunging never failing to make substantial gains. Wilcox, the visiting coach has regular Thursday American Legion Jack Iman in event, and although finitely settled, ably oppose hum Vernon "Tronmme here, both have shows.

This brot the score up to 18 to 2 in favor of Fullerton, and the Fullerton fans were already rejoicing over the victory. But at this point the Bakersfield team rallied, and began to drive the Fullertonites back, making touchdown after touchdown during the remainder of the game. In vain the Fullerton fans cried, "Hold that line." The Fullerton team had lost the keen edge off its fighting, while the Bakersfield team, aroused in desperation to the highest pitch, seemed to be irresistible.
Following the Fullerton touch-down, Bakersfield kicked off. Fullerton made gains. Fullerton attempted a pass. Bakersfield got the ball making big gains and almost making a touchdown. ALL-ANAHEIM CARD LEGION OFFERING
What might be termed an all-Anaheim card has been arranged for the regular Thursday night program of the American Legion boxing show.
Jack Iman is billed for the main event, and although it has not been definitely settled, Steve Dalton will probably oppose him. Neither Iman nor the Vernon "Tronman" need introductions here, both having made some good shows.
Jimmy Lloyd, the "Battling Elk," has been making a steady climb in pugilistic circles since that memorial night when he and Tex Stoval puffed and whipped and snorted for a round and a half at Sparkes fist ranch, and is billed for the semi-windup on Thursday's card.
Jimmy draws one Bobble Aray as an opponent, who is another boxer billed "out to stop him."
George Gilmore and Joe Chaney have been elected to put up the third scrap of the evening, which undoubtedly will be the fastest bout of the final three scraps. Gilmore lost last week on what many claim was a "fluke," and is out to show the world that he was boxing in tough luck on that occasion.
One of the favorites of local fight followers is Kid Loule, and the little fellow has always given the fans a good show for their money. Loule meets a tough customer in Young Garcia, but should be able to win, according to the hopsters.
Eddie Burns and Young Hecker will raise the curtain.
The card looks like one of the best box office attractions dished up for sometime and should pack the flastic abanty to the topmost rafter. Should Steve Dalton fall to agree to meet Iman another good boy of equal fighting ability will be selected this afternoon.
