Monday, October 3, 1921 FOUR NEW WELLS AT HUNTINGTON BEACH There were four new producers in the Huntington Beach district within the last week, bringing the totals up to 44. The most valuable of the new comers is the one drilled by the Milley-Keck Oil Co., on the Huntington Beach Co. lease, as an offset to the Fowler well on the north, which is credited with 450 barrels of 27 gravity oil. This is well No. 4. A close second is that of the Petroleum Co. drilled on the C. J. Porter Community lease, east of Main St., and north of Clay, which was making about 450 barrels of 223 gravity Thursday morning. A good third is the Petroleum Midway well on the High School lease, which was making about 400 barrels of 21 gravity. While the Petroleum Midway Co. have experienced a long run of trouble in this field they have also broken the record in drilling this well, as it came in Monday, just 60 days from the time the first material was delivered on the ground. The fourth one is the well drilled by Geo. E. Cloud, on the south side of Thirteenth street, one and one-half blocks east of Main street, now known as Thomas Syndicate No. 1, which was placed on the beam Saturday and was making about 250 barrels of low gravity oil up to Wednesday night when it sanded up. There is less sand in the content from this well than any of the others that have been brought in in this section of the field, and is free from water. This will probably make twice as much oil when it is thoroughly cleaned out, and the gravity will likely be 17 or 18, worth $1.11 per barrel. There are several Huntington Beach citizens interested in this lease as the lots were divided into 100 units and sold at $100 each. ANNOUNCEMENT I desire to announce that I have purchased the ANAHEIM DYE WORKS from Mr. J. F. Cole —I have made many new improvements to assure more prompt and satisfactory service. Principal among these features is installation of modern machinery and other equipment as well as installing another service car to the present fleet. —In addition to these factors which contribute to a higher standard service, I am a member of the National Dyers and Cleaners Association, which follows the highest ideals in business policy, as well as gating myself to employ only expert workmen whose skill is proficient and whose product is invariably beyond unfriendly criticism. —I am going to make a faithful, strong effort to deserve your praise and all that I ask is that you give me the opportunity to provide worth of efficient service. ANAHEIM DYE WORKS RALPH W. MAA S, Proprietor 217 West Center St. PHONES 167-J or 49 Anaheim, THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA FARM BUREAU HEADS INSPECT HARBOR In order to gain first-hand information of the natural advantages and of the development work being done at Newport harbor, H. E. Wahlberg, farm advisor for Orange-co, and R. D. Flaherty, secretary-manager of the Orange-co farm bureau, accepted an invitation and attended the harbor inspection trip last Friday. This trip, arranged to show ex-Senator Flint and Congressman Osborne what Orange-co and Newport had accomplished in the last two years, also afforded the farm bureau officials an excellent opportunity to prepare data to submit to the Orange-co farm bureau and the California Elevator Corporation. This came at a particularly opportunistic time, as the Orange-co farm bureau has decided to endeavor to secure the location of the California Elevator Corporation's terminal grain elevator for Newport harbor. If this can be accomplished it will be a long step in the direction of coastwise and oceangoing shipping, as the grain of So. Calif. goes all over the world, and would thereafter mean the opening up of other traffic. APPLE FESTIVAL AT YUCAIPA OCT. 7-8 The Second Annual Apple Festival of the Yucatina Valley will be held October 7 and 8 this year. The festival will be devoted to the exhibition and sale of the finest of the Valley's products, with its big red apples largely predominating. Opportunity will be afforded visitors also to see the unpicked portion of the crop, which is pronounced by many old time orchard men to be the most remarkable crop of apples ever seen, in regard to uniformity of production as well as quality of fruit. In addition to the competitive displays made by individual orchardists and the various packing houses in the Valley, there will be various forms of amusement, including an all-star baseball game, a one-set Club will be the subject that Mrs. Arthur Staley will talk upon. Every member is urged to be present and to be sure and bring their progress as the meeting will be opened with the reading of the club collect.
