Society: Clubs: Lodges: Churches GERMAN M. E. EPWORTH LEAGUE IN RALLY SERVICE THE EPWORTH LEAGUE of the German Methodist church held rally day exercise yesterday in the church, which respite the high temperature, was a most successful one. Rev. Tautenhahn addressed the young people on Epworth League work in general, and told of the accomplishments of the past year of the local organization. Plans for the future season are in the making and the work will be pushed to committee organization immediately following conference, which will be held here, opening this week. A program of special music was heard among the numbers being a solo by Miss Louise Schmidt, who sang "She Only Touched the Hem of His Garment." The duet, "Send the Light," was beautifully rendered by the Misses Meyer and Sophia Koblenberger. A ladies' quartet, composed of the Misses Louise Schmidt, Elisa Kraft, Hulda Bakenhaus and Lydia Beneke, sang the ever appealing "Rock of Ages," most sweetly. The reading, "Prayer," by Miss Bakenhaus was very good, indeed, and much enjoyed. The rally was concluded with benediction. WHITE TEMPLE CALENDAR Monday evening, fourth quarter conference, Dr. H. I. Guessing games were lots of fun, too, and the children entered the spirit of the contests with delight. Miss Hazel received many pretty gifts from her friends and others from her family, all of which delighted her greatly. Refreshments of popcorn, apples, cookies, ice cream and cake were served about 4:35, and the birthday cake was a delicious one, all liced in pink and white, and bearing her name, "Hazel," in vari-colored candies. Hazel was assisted by her mother in entertaining, and the guests all said they had "the best time!" Assisting in the pleasures of the afternoon were the Misses Martha Adams, Murion Utter, Florence Backs Virginia Nevins, June Nevins, Ethel Phillips, Lucillo Bowen, Marion McKean, Elizabeth Keeler, Lillian Holmes, Frances Eden, Lillian Watson, Elma Barnett, Ruth Davis, Thelma Myers, Ruth, Doris and Anita Desh, Laverna Dugas, Hannah Gussing, Bertha Fleschner and Messrs. CLOTHES NEEDED The ladies of the Community Shop are making an earnest appeal to the Anaheim public for garments, particularly women's and children's clothes. There is a demand for clothing of all kinds at the shop, and anything wearable will be most gladly accepted. It is well known that the proceeds from the shop are devoted to the needs of the baby welfare clinic, hold under the auspices of the city health department, and, as the clinic is well patronized by mothers, both young and old, who need instruction of the care and health of their babies, is most commendable work. The donation of half a dozen garments for women and children, from each person, would be a big boost to the shop and mean very little to the donor.
