R. attendant of Anaheim is other parents RICHFIELD UNITED WENTS SYNDICATE Placein-Richfield The Richfield United Oil company is no more. This company's holding, producing well and properties have passed into the hands of the Wents Syndicate. The Syndicate is backed by George Wents, a Placeinia orange grower, and "Pat" Adams, a former Standard Oil man. A rig for No. 2 is now going up. No. 1, a well taken over by the Syndicate, is producing about 200 barrels. At 3945 feet the showing of oil that created something of a sensation in the Ridge Oil company's No. 1 at 3800 is not quite so strong. While the show-ing is still encouraging, the big production is not expected now short of 4100 or 4200. On account of some water breaking in and with the idea of getting a big well, the Richfield Giant Oil company has decided to pull both the four and six-inch strings and drill deeper. The present depth of the well is 4210 and it is the idea now to carry it on to 46 or 47 hundred before completing. Richfield Union Petroleum Starts Held up until a string of four-inch drill pipe could be put on the ground, the Richfield Union Petroleum company now has the pipe and resumed drilling at 2200 feet today. The location is considered by followers of the Richfield district as ideal and a good producer is expected at 4200. The Wonder Oil company drilled out the cement at No. 2 and at 4502 feet the well shows a little water. A test is being made that will determine where the water is coming from and its extent. No. 2 is drilling at 675, Wonder No. 1 continues to be the wonder of the field for consistent production. This well is doing 1200 barrels daily with wonderful regularity. With a fishing job at 4196 and the well in the oll sand, Chapman No. 5, the Union Oil company's next producer, is held up fishing for 500 feet of drill pipe. Thompson-Goodwin No. 4 at 3165 is in the oll sand and looks good. On the # W. Newell lease No. 4 is the drilling well, and is at 2000 in the conglomerate. Towell lease is now developing No. 4 at 3400 in brown shale. On the McFadden lease No. 3 is the drilling well and is at 2826 in shell. Dickson No. 1 and Yorba No. 1 are redrilling at 2300 and 360 respectively. On the Stern No. 1 is being prepared for production at 3425, the tubing is going in. Yorba Linda Group No. 3 spudded in and is drilling. On the Dorsey lease No. 2 is ARCADIA FAILS TO GET WATER SHUTOFF (Montebello Field) The Arcadia Oil Co.'s No. 1 failed to get a water shutoff at 2975 and will be re-cemented. The Columbia Oil Co.'s new producer, Adobe No. 5, drilled to 486 feet, has settled down to a 150-barrel well. Alcott-Arnold No. 1 is fishing at 3980. The Merced Oil Co. is making but little progress at Manly No. 1. The casing lost at 2745 is giving a lot of difficulty to recover. Rigging up to go back and shut off the water at Calkins No. 1 is under way. The McGilney Oil Co. scored heavily at Montebello this week. Two new wells were brot in that increased the production 1100 barrels. No. 11 drilled to 3500 feet came in a 550-barrel well. No. 13, drilled to 3615, started off producing at the rate of 600 barrels. Last week the McGilney Co. brot in No. 12, a 500-barrel well. Three new producers in two weeks, increasing the production 1600 barrels, is a record for the company. The Standard Oil Co. has just completed and put on production two new producers that are aggregating 1500 barrels. Baldwin No. 57-A, drilled to 3200 feet, is doing 700 barrels, and Temple No. 14, drilled to 3540, came in at 800 barrels. What looks like one of the biggest wells since the Montebello field became a fact is what the St Helena Petroleum Co. has at Egleston No. 1. Drilled to 4275 feet, this new well started off with a rush and a roar that looks like a 1000-barrel producer. Monterey No. 5, down 3342 feet, is producing about 300 barrels. The Pacific Gas and Petroleum Is a new concern that entered Huntington Beach field this week. The new company has secured accoage on adjoining property east of Malls Syndicate and is building rig for its first well. Pantages - Huntington No. sprung a surprise by starting to fill and increasing its production from 275 barrels to 510 barrels.it secet that the sand has been pretty ww cleaned out and the well now has chance to make a real showing. The Petroleum Midway has brought in its second well at Huntington Beach. The new producer is Vomeyer No.1, drilled to 3265 feef and came in a 300 barrel well.Tell well is under a 400-lb pressure and undoubtedly increase this spruce production, probably double it.On the High school property the Petroleum Midway has No.1 ready to go production at a depth of 2625.T High School well looks like a good one.Towers No.1 is drilling at 2918 in the hard shell. The Union’s production shows that Chapman No. 1 is the big for two years, is gradually slipping. Last week the well dropped from 500 to 450 barrels. No. 2 continues to flow around 1100. No. 6 still holds first place on production. It is doing better than 1600. Additional Field Information Amalgamated Oil company, Breen No. 2, 2000 feet, conglomerate, drilling. Conser, of Sherman, Indiana institute, today announced that plans have been completed to have U. S. C. play an exhibition game here during the week of the Southern California Fair with the Sherman Indian eleven. The game will be played on the fair grounds on October 14. CONTROL OF FIELD MICE With all the laudable work in destruction of squirrels and gopher, let us not forget the little fieldmouse, a less serious pest, but a costly one in many localities. Here's a tip from the State College of Washington: Oats, strychnine and saccharin form a valuable compound for terminating field mice. If good steam ed rolled oats are not obtainable, ordinary table oats may be used in the following proportions: For eighteen pounds of rolled oats mix one and one-half ounces of strychnine, one ounce baking soda and one-eighth ounce saccharin. This is all mixed with a quart and a half of starch paste and poured over the oatmeal. The mixture should be applied in small lots where the mice feed and kept away from the chickens. Orchard and Farm. Huntington Sure Shot drilled to 2278 is drilling out the cement and as soon as a water test is made this well will be ready to drill on into production. It is showing very strong with lots of oil and gas under high pressure. As far as deep production is concerned, it seems that the Standard Oil Company has a chance now to get a nice well at Torrance No. 1. Drilled to 4455, the fall failed to show much of anything. However, ten feet more oil and a very satisfactory showing was found. It is the intention to drill on and determine the extent and quality of the showing. Should the Standard get a commercial producer, it will open up a lot of deep drilling territory. As deep drilling is for big companies only, the Torrance showing will not allow them to drill on.
