RICHFIELD GIANT EXPECTS 1000 BBLS. Richfield-Placentia After testing out for three weeks at 4600, 4500 and 4400 the Fullerton Oil Company came up to 3500 on the Anaheim Union well and made a production test. At 3500 the best well will do is pump a little water. It seems that the oil is just not there. The recent cementing done by the Placentia Pacific Oil Company at 3-800 failed to get all the water. For a time the water was shut out but later broke in in a small quantity. Progress has been made in that the source of the water has been located and the next cementing will do the trick. One of the best wells that has been brought in in the Yorba Linda district has just been completed by the General Petroleum Company at Hugo No. 2. The new well is making 600 barrels of 18 gravity oil. Group 4-3 is drilling in the broken shale at 3450 and is looking rather good. Drilling on the United-Carpenter No. 1 is now at a 1000 feet and the formation is shale and boulders. Yorba No. 1 continues oo a pumping test but to date has made no oil. The properties, holdings and production of the Richfield United Oil Company have been taken over by the Richfield Southern. The Richfield Southern take the property on a 50-50 basis and will commence the drilling of a second well immediately. The Richfield Southern is a strong company financially and has the equipment and organization necessary to go ahead and develop the recently acquired property. The Richfield-Southern released its holdings with the Richfield-Yorba and will not drill the offset well to the Petroleum Midway's Richfield Yorba No. 2. The Petroleum Midway's big well rug No. 4 climbed from 1200 bbls last week's production to 1325 barrels this week's. This well is making one of the most remarkable showings on production of any well drilled in the Richfield district. Yarnell No. 9 the deep test well is reaming at 3800 feet. Krug No. 1 secured a water shut off at 2756 and is now ready to drill into the oil sands. Richfield-Consolidated No. 4 is drill- Announcement has been made to the affect that the Tepothal Oil Co. will resume drilling about ten days. It is understood that a lot of new capital has been interested in the well. 1 WELL DRILLING ON BREA CANYON LEASE Brea-Fullerton Operations on the Brea Canyon Oil Co.'s lease has been reduced to one well drilling, and two wells fixing up. Two-A, the drilling well shows 3500 feet and No. 32 the deep test well is swapping 3-inch casing at 4181. No. 33 pulled the 5-inch at 3300. The Columbia Oil Co.'s Menchego No. 2 drilled to 4289 feet is a keen appointment. The well came in a ten barrel producer. Located on property adjacent to the General Petroleum's big wells and the Union's gushera something good was expected. The Menchego property seems to be off the structure. Pico No. 2 at 3500 is drilling in the oil sand and is showing up nicely. The Fullerton Oil Co. completed a deep well on the Menges Hill at 4200 feet and brought in a 200 barrel producer. The organization of the Aryondill Oil Syndicate was announced last week. Since the announcement was made the directors and organizer have decided to change the name to the Dolke-Thomas Oll Syndicate. The location for the first well has been staked by C.S. Thomas one of the most successful geologists in the California field. The well is to be located near the Fullerton City reservoir site and Thomas promises a big well right-off the rel. Thomas' reputation made the financing of the project easy. AMAL, PEARCE NO. 1 HAS FINE SHOWING Huntington Beach Drilling at 3845 the Amalgamat'ds Pearce No. 1 is showing so much oil and gas that it was necessary to mud up heavily and practically shut the well in. It is the intention to hold the Pearce well in check until Powler No. 1 deopened to 3290 is brought in again. Fowler No. 2 is standing cemented at 3346. Huntington No. 6 shows 2800 feet of hole. Huntington No. 2-A seems to be good for a 100-barrel Huntington No. Eighty So. Calif., Me better material for clichery in Mexican Boy Scout "Camp Juarez," cast Arch Rock. This well is making one of the most remarkable showings on production of any well drilled in the Richfield district. Yarnell No. 9 the deep test well is reaming at 3800 feet. Krug No. 1 secured a water shut off at 2752 and is now ready to drill into the oil sands. Richfield-Consolidated No. 4 is drilling at 2450 in sand and boulders. Richfield-Yorba No. 2 drilled by the Petroleum Midway to 4675 feet tested out for a water shut off at 4157. The bailing test brought up a lot of oil and Saturday the well made a twenty minute flow. There seems to be some water and further balling will have to be done to ascertain the true condition of the shut off. Officials of the Petroleum Midway are not expecting a big well, however they may have a surprise coming. Exhaustive tests reveal a successful shut off of the water at the Richfield Giant at 3922 feet. The well is now being bailed down to see if it will flow thru the six inch casing. Should it fail to flow it will be tubed and swabbed. A thousand barrel well is looked for. The encouraging showing of oil struck in the Ridge Oil Co.'s well at 3775 feet continues still stronger and more pronounced at the present depth of 3900 feet. Production seems almost certainly at 4000 or 4100. The Richfield-Yorba Oil Co.'s No. 1 is now at a steady production and is making a hundred barrels. It is the intention to allow the well to produce at this figure for a while, should it fall to do better the hole will be deepened. A falling off of fifty barrels in one well and a hundred in another is reported by the Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Company, Wardman-Claxon No. 2 dropped from 800 to 700 barrels. No. has been producing steadily for four months at 400 barrels and dropped to 350 barrels. No. 4 is drilling out the cement at 2850 and will be testing water tomorrow. No. 5 is a rig. The Standard Oil Co. continues to develop heavily on the Kraemer property. Kraemer No. 2-15 is drilling at 3975, 2-16 at 3100 and 2-17 at 2675, ellog No. 2 is close to 3700 feet and is in hard sand. Loftus-O'Bryan No. 1 down 5097 and Vejar at 5100 are standing suspended. The Wonder Co., Ltd. set a string of 6" at 4502 feet at No. 2. The sand seems to dip a little deeper as the wells extend along the east line of the property. On the Chapman lease the Union has 8 wells drilling. At 4160 feet Chapman No. 5 is still in the brown shale and will probably not strike the oil sand short of 4200 feet. On the Thompson-Goodwin property No. 4 is in the oil sand at 2200 and No. HAS FINE SHOWING Huntington Beach Drilling at 3845 the Amalgamated Pearce No. 1 is showing so much oil and gas that it was necessary to mud up heavily and practically shut the well in. It is the intention to hold the Pearce well in check until Fowler No. 1 deepened to 3290 is brought in again. Fowler No. 2 is standing cemented at 3346. Huntington No. 6 shows 2800 feet of hole. Huntington No. 2-A seems to be good for about a 100-barrels. Huntington No. 3 is making 375 barrels daily of 25.5 gravity oil. The Argonaut Oil Co. now has two new wells drilling. Argonaut-Turley No. 2 spudded in and made 350 feet of hole. Wilson No.1 drilled to 600 feet and set 15-1-2 casing. Johnson No.1 is a rig. The Argonaut's producer Turley No.1 holds steadily at 200 barrels and is one of the consistent producers of the field. Geo E. Cloud No.1 came in late last week doing four and five hundred barrels. Drilled to 2315 feet and getting a perfect water shut off the Cloud well has the making of one of the best wells in the south west section of the field. The Edens Syndicate No.1 is to be re-cemented and efforts made to make a clean producer out of the well at once. Edens Syndicate was drilled to-2339, and pumped at the rate of 350 barrels initial production when water broke in. Things are now pointing to the Gypsy Syndicate becoming one of the successful small companies at Huntington Beach. The wells are rounding into excellent shape and some recent showings warrant the prediction of two good wells. Gypsy No.1 landed "8" at 2330 in the hard shell. Immediately under this hard shell was found an oil sand that seems to carry a higher gravity oil than any yet found in the field. No.2 is drilling out the cement at 2315 and present indications show that the water has been shut off. Some 80 feet of oil sand was drilled through a good well is expected. No.3 is lagging, and Nos.4 and 5 are locations. Tools were run in to ascertain the condition of Huntington Central No.1. The tools would not go to bottom and now the 6-in casing is being pulled out. No.2 still stands idle at 3132. The Huntington Midway failed to get a shut off the second time at No.1. The cementing was done at 2215.The well will be re-cemented. Calif. Mexican boys are better material for citizenship today by reason of the fact they had part in a Mexican Boy Scout camp, called "Camp Juarez," established near Arch Rock. The camp was conducted upon grounds donated by Miss Blanche Dolph, of San Juan Capistrano, and was under the management of the Rev. Paul G. Stevens and the Rev. Robert McLean, representing the Board of Home Missions of the Presbyterian church. About forty boys were in camp for a period of one week, making eighty cared for in the two weeks during which the camp was conducted. The boys were accompanied by a number of their pastors. They were given instruction in the Bible, in citizenship and in orderliness in the care of the camp. These are some of the statements: "We have learned to be better patriots." "We have learned more about better citizenship." "We have gotten a better knowledge of Christ as our Big Brother." "We have learned to wash dishes." "We have taught to be neat about our tents." "It has been a good thing to be compelled to wash our faces every morning." "We have learned to love the sunsets." "We have learned to have better manners at the table." "We have learned to be unselfish." "The these lads are United States citizens in the making and must be vastly better because of the seeds sown by these efficient leaders," it is declared. "This is the type of work that makes for the security and peace of the world." LAGUNA WELL LOOKS GOOD AT 2900 FEET San Joaquito Hills The Laguna Oil Association's No. 1 now drilling at 2900 feet is in a mixture of grey sand and shale and the well is showing up good. At 2100 feet the Nu Santa Oil Co. No. 1 is drilling in brown shale, and for the past few days this well has been showing up exceptionally good. At 2300 feet the Wirscher-Gray Oil Co.'s well is beginning to look like an oil well. Some very favorable showings were reported from 2200 on. Wag No. 1 is drilling at 1000 and Wag Oil and Petroleum Co., has completed a rig and started rigging up. BARDEEN HILLS WELL STILL TESTING OUT Puente Hills The Barden Oil Co.'s Puente Hills well is still in the testing out stage. Drilled to 2221, this well has had some difficulty with sand, and up to just recently it has shown some water. The Chino Corona United Oil Co.'s having all the troubles listed in connection with the oil business. Sand is giving this 3678-foot well considerable trouble and until the well is cleared no regular or stable production can be hoped for. The big well of the Puente Hills district is no wclose to production. The cement set at 2710 has been drilled out. Indications are good for a water shut off. From the way this well has been showing up the big oil sand cannot be more than 50 or 75 feet deeper. Drilling on the Pasadena-Puente well No. 1 is now at 1155, the formation continues to show sandy brown shale with occasional showings of oil that are very promising. The St. Helen's Petroleum lost 100 feet of hole at Garnier No. 1 and filled up and redrilled. Drilling is now going nicely at 200 feet. The formation was hard from the beginn... Sun No. 1 has stood cemented for a month or more. The drilling out of the cement is underway and a water test will be made before the end of the week. No. 3 continues to produce a little oil from the top sands at 2067. Sun No. 4 is being put on production, but the sand continually comes in and chokes the oil flow. The production of No. 4 is oil and sand. The Standard Oil Co. completed and put on production Huntington A-4 a 200 barrel well. The new well was completed 3145 feet. Huntington E-2 is coming in at 2275 feet and looks like another 200 barrel well. Huntington A-5 is testing water at 2970, A-7 at 2795, and A-14 at 1300 feet is fishing. Huntington A-9 and A-12 stands cemented at 2535 and 2814 respectively. A-13 is drilling at 3000, and A-15 at 1200. Huntington B-2 is one of the deep wells of the district, it is now drilling at 4045. Attend Chaffee's Anniversary Sale Today The production of Ford cars and trucks for August again broke all previous high records with the total reaching 117,696. This is the fourth consecutive month in which our output has gone over the hundred thousand mark, the total for the four months being 463,074, which has gone a long way in making possible the present reductions. June this year, with an output of 117,247 was the previous record month. One noteworthy feature of our sales is the increased demand for Ford trucks and cars for salesmen. This class of commercial business has been gradually increasing the past sixty days and we interpret it as a very good sign of improvement in general business. "No reduction has been made in the price of the Fordson tractor, and none is contemplated." PIGEON SHOW AT FAIR A Pigeon Show is to be one of the features of the Orange County Fair which opens at Huntington Beach, Sept. 28th. The matter was brought up by the offer of Charles C. Clark, of Fullerton, to take charge of such an event, and was unanimously accepted. Clark works in the Fullerton postoffice by days, and is a pigeon fancier the rest of the time, so that expert care of birds may be expected. Clark believes that there will be 50 or more pigeon entries and is now busy making preparations for his part in the Fair, which runs four days to Oct. 1st. Try Plain Dealer Want Ads.
