KANSAS: SATURDAY All residents lived in Kansas are called to attend the auspices of the Kansas association of Southern California for the great picnic reunion all-day Saturday, September 10, in Sycamore Grove park, Los Angeles. There will be county registers and headquarters. A brief program will open about 2 o'clock, but the main purpose is to have a good time. Coffee will be served free to all who buy the silk souvenir badges. ENTERTAINS FOR DAUGHTERS Mrs. W. M. Chambers entertained Saturday afternoon in compliment to her daughter, Mrs. B. A. Griffis, of Hollywood. The dozen guests were girl friends of Mrs. Griffis. The afternoon was spent at 500, after which the hostess served a two-course luncheon. ENJOY DINNER AT PARK Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Colderhoff and daughter Christine and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trapp, Mrs. Berlop and daughter Violet, of Orange, and Mrs. Greaves spent yesterday at Orange County Park. They had a nice dinner and a wienie roast in the evening. DELIGHTFUL DINNER PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sidener were hosts at a delightful dinner party on Sunday. Big bouquets of roses were placed about the living room. A huge bouquet was a pretty scene on the dinner table. Covers were laid for Messrs and Mesdames Frank Corry, of Santa Ana, O. W. Eager, Mesdames D. Eager, Perryl, Fullerton of Long Beach and Mr. and Mrs. F. Sidener. PICNIC AT BROOKSIDE PARK Messrs. and Mesdames Oscar Schneider, Rollo Luhring, Fred Schnelder, Victor Bonnat, Len Bonnat and V. W. Lamont and son, Victor, and Mrs. Lela Lewis motored to Brookside Park Sunday and enjoyed a picnic dinner. In the afternoon they watched the ball game and were delighted to see Pasadena's defeat. LOCAL FOLKS AT BARBECUE The annual barbeque and plenic was held yesterday at the S. A. Martin ranch, near Universal City, and the usual good time and renewing of pily surprised yesterday when relatives from Los Angeles and Hollywood drove to the Cohen home on E Center-st to celebrate her birthday anniversary. To make the affair even more pleasant the visitors brot with them chicken, salads, ples and other good things to make up a delicious three-coure dinner. The honoree was remembered further with many pretty gifts from the self-invited guests. Enjoying the day together were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cohen and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Locus, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Cohen Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Cohen, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kemp, Mr. and Mrs Levy and Miss Millicent Cohen. DELIGHTFUL DINNER PARTY Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Reed were hosts at a delightful dinner party last Sunday. Mr. Ray Callor was among those seen in Long Beach Sunday. Miss Clementine Mattis has left for San Francisco for a visit with friends. Miss Sarah Mattis with a party of friends, spent the week end on a house party at Balbon. Miss Clar Nau and Mr. Clifford Bergen were Long Beach visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Al Erickson, and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. Z. Kroger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmier and Miss Betty Brus spent the holidays at Laguna. Mr. Burr Willard of Bakersfield spent the holidays-with friends in Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. A. Nowatney and family spent Sunday at Brookside Park, Pasadena. William J. Burrey and wife, of Dayton, Ohio, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Sirran, of Cypress, Mr. Burrey is a brother of Mrs. Sirran. They plan to remain from two to four weeks. So much of the country as they have seen pleases them greatly and already they think longingly of a possible home in the west. Miss Beanett, of Los Angeles, who is substituting for Miss Luna Weliman, at her music studio during Miss Wellman's absence in the east, was here Friday on her first professional visit. Miss Beanett will come each Wednesday afternoon and all day Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. U. S. Amack' and daughter Coy spent the holidays in Los Angeles, guests of the Mrs. Amack's sister, Mrs. Emma Thompson. Miss O. Stechert left this morning for Whittier. She has accepted a position with the Whittier High School. Mr. H. V. Paul, employee of the Standard Oil Co., is enjoying a vacation. Mr. Ben Fraser has resumed his duties following a vacation. Bertha Grim has left over the Santa Fe for Burley, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Ruick entertained a couple of their friends from Los Angeles over the holidays. They were Misses Lyna Brent and Miss Kitty Clark. Sunday they motored to Long Beach where they met friends from Los Angeles. A picnic dinner was enjoyed and pike attractions were witnessed. In the evening they motored to Los Angeles and had dinner and attended a theatre. Mr. and Mrs. Ruick then returned to their home. Miss Reta Coate left yesterday for U.S.C., where she will attend school. Mr. and Mrs. J.F.Cleary are moving to their new home on East North-street where they recently bought a home and put up a new four-room bungalow. Mrs.Roy Chonte and children and Mr. and Mrs.E.W.Dean spent the week-end at the Madame Modjeska ranch. Mrs.Roy Chonte and children spent Friday afternoon with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.E.W.Dean of Fullerton. Dr.Charles Velley and wife baby who have been spending the past week with Miss Bertha Ellingson have gone to La Jolla for a week before returning to their home in Illinois.Miss Ellingson will accompany them as far as Chicago. Mrs.C.E.Bamberlain went to Pasadena Friday evening to visit Miss Lucy Chamberlain. Miss Bertha Ellingson who has been working at the clinic is leaving for a visit in Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs.J.L.Chambers and children of Baratow visited Mr. and Mrs.Wm.Bamberlain Friday and Saturday. They spent Friday afternoon in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs.George Rebman left Friday for a vacation at Catalina. Mr. and Mrs.J.H.Rickie entertained Mr. and Mrs.George Rebman at dinner and theatre at Long Beach Thursday evening. Miss Alice Kuchler is confined to her home on account of illness. Mr. and Mrs.J.Kellenberger and daughter, Miss Theodora Hager, and Mr. and Mrs.Dahlmann and son, Earle, will spend Sunday at Glenn Ranch. Mr. and Mrs.L.M.Jullan and sons are spending a vacation at Big Bear lake. Mrs.Emmia Lubring and daughter, Wilma Mac, Miss Rose Kreiss, and Mrs.C.Hartback were guests of friends in Norwalk Friday. Miss Lydia Bencke and Mr.Bill Fisher were Balbona visitors Friday night. Misses Viola and Blanche Lensing spent the holidays with Mrs.G.T.Ingram and daughters in Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs.M.Lichtenstein and daughters, Geraline and Gertrude, spent Sunday with friends in Riverside and Monday in Pasadena. Mrs.Anna Mitchell of Chicago is visiting her sister, Mrs.A.A.O'Brien. Mr.和 Mrs.George Ross were in Los Angeles Saturday on business. Mrs.George Gleason, of Chicago, accompanied by her sister, from Los Angeles, was the guest on Labor Day of her friend, Mrs.R.B.Herman. Miss Elizabeth Hang, a surgical patient in the Anaheim sanitarium recently, has returned to her home and is rapidly convalescing. Rev.Loren Howe was a business visitor in Los Angeles Friday, going on an errand for the church. C.M.Morrison, building contractor, enjoyed the week-end in Riverside. Dr.Melbonald, who has been the guest in the C.M.Morrison family has returned to her home in Hemet today. The Alfred Nolte family and the E.H.Smith family, of Hemet, passed Sunday in Anaheim, the guests of Rev.Loren Howe and family, and attended services in the Christian church in the morning. The visiting gentlemen are both deacons in the Hemet Christian church. Mrs.J.D.Abplannip, and two children, of Grant City, Mo., arrived in California recently for an extended Southland. They are cousins of William Abplannip, and have made the trip in their big touring car, leaving Grant City, August 19. They stopped several places en route. At present they are at the August Michel home, in Santa Anna. Miss Inca John of Los Angeles, has missed O.Stechert left this morning for Whittier. Little Clifford Lakeman, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.Jacob Lakeman, has had his tonsils and adenoids removed. The little chap has been having a serious time the past summer, being the victim of scarlet fever during July and a portion of August. While he is recovering nicely improvement will be hastened by the operation of this morning, his parents were advised. Mr. and Mrs.J.C.Coyner and Miss Helen Coyner and Miss Peggy Humeston spent yesterday at Laguna. Leep returned to his home in Anaheim after a five months visit with his aged mother and other relatives in Sargeant, Neb. Mr. Leep enjoyed his trip and meeting his brothers and sister again, but was glad to again be at home, as the weather this summer in the eastern state was very warm and dry. Dr. and Mrs. Chas. Veleney, professor of science in the University of Illinois, Mrs. B. Ellingson, Miss Agnes Balifour, Mrs. H. A. Johnson and daughter, Lillis were recent visitors at Laguna. While there they visited Dr. Chilton, teacher of science in the Pomona College. A visit to the laboratory was also a point of interest. Dr. Veleny has been visiting different laboratories along the coast in the interest of research work. Mrs. Ellingson will return with them when they leave next week for their home. Fred Gillenwater has left over the Santa Fe for Carthage, Ill. Mr. C. V. Curtiss has returned from Big Bear and has resumed his duties. E. H. Reeder has left over the Santa Fe for New York.
