The world of Americanization should be complete in the heart of each and every professed American. The citizen who at heart hates America and its institutions is no more genuinely American than is the American hating foreigner. BANKS INCREASE FARMER LOANS WASHINGTON, Aug. 18—Official data submitted to the Senate Banking Committee, by the Federal Reserve Board shows that during the past year the Federal Reserve system has almost doubled its loans on agricultural paper. The data was submitted in person by Governor Harding of the Federal Reserve Board. He shows that long term loans on agricultural and live stock paper were $83,000,000 on June 30, 1920, and had increased to $152,000,000 on June 30 of this year. In the Chicago district there was an increase of almost 300 per cent on this class of paper. HEAT HARVEST MONEY HELPING WEST GET BACK ON ITS FEET KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 19—The wheat harvest is helping the farmer dig out of debt. Through a single bank in Kansas City $2,500,000 of wheat money passes in one day. Last year the wheat inconle did not assist the farmer as expected because of the high cost of production. This year it is different. As a rule the farmer is making a fair profit at the prevailing price and is either applying it to pay off debts or to build up a bank balance in event he is out of debt. The wheat money is coming at a very propitious time for the livestock industry as many country banks are taking the money receive in payment Say Fellows: Just at the last minute you find you haven't a clean handkerchief. R. LOST TREASURE K-RESON, Aug. 20—The success atDr. W. M. the salvaging of $30,000,000 in IWT which the ill-fated Laurentic Halined when sunk by a submarine in Lough Swilly, on the north coast of Ireland, has induced the formation of a number of new companies. They will try to wrest treasure from the bottom of the sea. British merchant ships sunk by eneny action during the war amount to about seven and three-quarter million tonnage. Around the coasts of the United Kingdom alone there are belived to be 1,000 ships, totaling 2,000, 000 tons, lying at worable depths. The admiralty have closed down their salvage department, but privateenterprise continues enthusiastic in its quest for gold from the sea. The applicative risks are great, but the bovest is oftimes greater.
