FOR DRIVER'S DEATH Finds String of Box Cars on Siding at Seal Beach Resulted in Death of J. Deyns, Belgian, Saturday. A coroner's jury today found the Pacific Electric to blame for the death of J. Deyns, Belgian driver of a beet wagon, who was killed by an interurban car at 10:40 a.m. Saturday in Seal Beach. The jury found the driver's view of the tracks was obscured by a strings of cars on a siding. A Newport train struck the wagon on which the driver was seated. The vehicle was reduced to a pile of splintered wood and the driver was crushed beneath the wheels of the train. It was reported the motorman made a desperate effort to stop when he saw that a collision was inevitable. One of the horses which the teamster was driving was killed. Riley picnic was a big success. The party left the Studebaker garage at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, arriving at the Santa Ana canyon picnic grounds at 3:15. No claim is made for a record Studebaker run. At 4 p.m., a baseball game was inked in, the sales force and the service department mixing it for nine innings. The result of this three-ring circus was a tie score of 6 to 8. The big feed took place at 6:30 p.m. and, say boy, some feed! If anybody was hungry it was because they were sick and judging from the way things disappeared they could not be called sick. Community singing was the next thing to take the interest of the crowd. There are some real singers within the Studebaker garage. Entertainment lasted until 2 a.m. Breakfast is individual from 6 to 9 Sunday morning, basket lunch at noon and picnic broke up about 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. If it was possible for anyone to enjoy the picnic more than anybody else it was Harry D. Riley because there was more of him by 40 pounds than any other celebrant. Everybody agreed this picnic was the most enjoyable affair that they ever attended and voted it an annual affair. BEGIN $8000 MANSE FOR PRESBY. The "Mighty" Johnson couldn't make the team. His wife objects to his going out so much evenings. Whether this edict is to interfere with his hitherto regular appearance at the local alleys is being considered with bated breath by the other boys. FAMILY AT BEACH, HOUSE IS ROBBED When Mr. and Mrs. D.L.Adams, 112 Halladay-at, Santa Ana return from a vacation they are spending at Bear valley they will find their house in a rather untidy conditions. According to Robert A.Martin of San Bernardino the Adams home has been thoroughly ramsacked. It will be impossible to get a report of what has been stolen until Mr. and Mrs. Adams return to their home and make an inventory of their personal effects. Martin, who says he is a relative of the Adams family, went to the house late to get something which Adams told him he might have. Upon entering the place he found that it had been robbed. Dresser drawers, deposit boxes and other receptacles had been opened and the contents littered over the floor. It was also apparent that the dining room furnishings had been tampered with. CLIMAX REACHED IN IRISH STRUGGLE LONDON, Aug. 15.—The struggle of centuries reached a climax today with the British demand on Sinn Féin Ireland that she accept membership in the British empire as... dominion. The future of Ireland lay with the Sinn Féin parliament. It meets tomorrow. In England, it was believed almost unanimously that the government's peace terms were generous, that the premier's reply to "President" Do Valera's demand for expansion of the terms was fair and that it left Ireland's fate to the Sinn Féin.
