DEFINES SANDS AT HUNTINGTON BEACH
Huntington Beach
The Amalgamated Oil Co. is the second company to install an electric dehydrator to take care of the emulsion in the Huntington Beach production. The percentage of emulsion in the production is small but resists separation successfully by any other method. At Fowler No. 1 the 8 inch was set at 2275 and the well cemented. Huntington 2-A is perforating the casing and being prepared to bring in at 2600. Huntington No. 6 is connected up and ready to spud in Pearce No. 1 stands cemented at 3652. Fowler No. 1 is making 175 barrels of 28 gravity oil.
For the benefit of all concerned at Huntington Beach Joseph C. Jensen chief geologist for the Amalgamated Oil Co., gave out a few days ago the results of his exhaustive study of the geology of the Huntington Beach field. Mr. Jensen states that according to his findings the first oil bearing sand occurred at 2050 feet above which there is water in varying quantities. At 2550 the Bolas sand is found, from which such producers as the Standard's B-1 and A-2 are found. Between 2550 and 2800 there is a questionable water strata not as yet clearly defined. At the 2800 foot sand such wells as the Texcal and Union's Copeland were found. At 2900 feet a third water strate appears. Twenty-nine hundred and fifty-feet marks the third or third in which such deep wells as the Fowler and Ashton were located. It is Mr. Jensen's opinion that this third sage may dip from 2950 and 3200 to as deep at 3700.
The Argonaut Oil Co. was fortunate in having some property in the east side of the field adjoining the Milley big lease. On this parcel the Argonaut is building a rig and will rush development. Argonaut No. 1 is producing 150 barrels and No. 2 is rigged up and ready to start drilling.
The Edmondstone Oil Corporation has three wells underway. Ashton No. 2 cemented at 3500 is ready to drill out Davenport No. 1 another well adjoining the famous Milley lease building rig and will start drilling in a few days Drilling at Huff No.
out the latter part of the week. No. 4 stopped drilling at 2275 and its outcome will gauge he Bolas Chica's Augur No. 1 to some extent.
Standard Oil field operations at Huntington Beach include the following: Huntington A-3 drilled to 3282 and swabbing to bring in. A-4 shows 8 inch landed and cemented at 3128. A-5 is standing cemented at 2696 with 8 inch. A-7 is drilled to 2990 and balling for test. A-9 mudding up hole at 2565 to go ahead. A-10 drilling at 2800. A-11 drilling at 2775. A-12 drilling at 2455. A-13 drilling at 1750. A-14 and 15 are rigs. A-16 is a location. On the Huntington B property No. 2 stands cemented at dnt 3557. No. 3 is drilling at 2600 and No. 4 set 10 inch at 2620. Drilling on D-1 at 2300. D-2 is a location. Huntington E-1 stands cemented at 2480. E-2 at 2250 and D-3 is a rig. Bolas No. 4 stands cemented at 2570 and No. 2 is a rig. On the Jones Community No. 2 is a rig. Thompson No. 1 is drilling at 2700. Torrance No. 1 has been deepened to 4225.
The Union Oil Co has completed the rigging up work on Newland No. 2 and will spud in in a few days. Copeland No. 3 shows 3310 feet in the shell and 10 inch casing is going in. No. 5 Copeland is drilling at 2775 in sandy shale. Copeland No. 1 is now a consistent producer at 200 barrels.

The General Petroleum's Community No. 1 is drilling at 3000 in the hard sand and today has shown no indications of oil other than an occasional color. Drilling is going ahead slowly in order to watch the formations closely.

Huntington Owners No. 2 drilled in the so called Million Dollar Circle has all the carmarks of a good well. Drilled to 2296 is perfect shut off was secured on the water. Sunday an attempt was made to bring the well in. Heaving sand came in and prevented the well's coming into production. It will be necessary to wash the hole down and set a heaving plug before any final production test can be made.
E. J. Milcy is making preparations to put his famous No. 1 in the best of production condition. Several hundred feet of screen casing will be put in the well. Drilled to 2670 feet this well sprung one of the biggest surprises in the field by coming in a 2000 barrel well. This production came thru ten inch casing. When fixed up with screen pipe and put into first class condition this well will make a 1500 barrel producer.
In all probability the Fidelity Oil Co.'s No. 1 will be one of the fields banner wells. Drilled to 2585 and cemented at that point, the well was opened up Saturday. It started off with a rush and a road and looked like he real thing for a few minutes when the sand heavened in and stopped the flow. It will be necessary to wash out and set a heaving plug before it will be possible to get a line on the water or the well production. It will probably be ready to bring in again by the end of the week.

Pittitillia Syndicate No. 1 according to Superintendent Kady is ready to go on a production test. Drilled to 2374 the well has shown close to 80 feet of good oil sand and should make a nice little well.
To date the Petroleum Midway has one well producing Columbia. 3-1 is making about 70 barrels. The P.M.'s next producer will be Columbia 2-1 completed at 3150. It is now on a production test. Columbia 1-1 failed to get a water shut off and was re-cemented at 3226. Towers No. 1 was abandoned at 2100 and the rig moved 50 feet east and a new well started. Volmer-Meyer No. 1 is drilling at 3145. No. 4 is milling on pipe at 3000. The well on the high school property is drilling at 675.

AUTO CLUB PUSHES WAR ON ACCIDENTS
Recognition of the efforts of the Auto Club of So Calif., to reduce accidents has been gained by action soon to be taken by various municipalities in the southern part of the state.
Altho the lead in the attempt to stop reckless driving is to be taken by Mayor Cryer of Los Angeles, the effort is to be general instead of specific on the part of police court judges in Southern California cities particularly in and in various sheriff's offices.
Reckless driving; it is pointed out, is a matter of individual inclination rather than epedemical, and it is with the individual that the police court judges are planning particularly to deal. A spirit of recklessness evidenced by boyish drivers of trucks and delivery wagons, while not carefuling in accidents themselves, is communicated to motorists who otherwise would be law-abiding citizens.
In St. Louis a campaign against thoughtless operators of motor cars has been steadily conducted over a period of years and it is only recently that results have been obtained there, so that at the present time St. Louis is said to be the safest city, traffically speaking, in America. Chief credit for its safety is given to the stern and fair attitude of its police judges in dealing with traffic offenders.
Out-of 10,000 traffic law violators who appeared before Judge Mix of that city, only four were repeaters, according to a report received by the Auto Club officials.
A speed of 60 miles an hour for a boat driven by an serial propeller is claimed by its California builder.
