La Habra Items LA HABRA, Aug. 9—The C. L. Crumrines and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Walker and family spent the weekend at Big Bear, Mrs. Walker and son and Mrs. Crumrine and Pauline will remain for a couple of weeks. A party of La Habra motored to Seal Beach for a swim and dinner on the sand. Among those noted were: Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Wagg, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Bradshaw, the Ralph Perra and the Charles Andersons of Lahelm. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. McGill, of the Brown & Dusser company, left for Big Basin and the Santa Cruz mountains on Wednesday. They were accompanied by their son, Douglas, and a friend, Merritt Canfield. Buena Park News BUENA PARK, Aug. 9—(Spl.)—Mr. and Mrs. A. Nelson, Raymond and Buelah Nelson, Bertha Robison and Dorothy Mulrhead spent Sunday at Seal Beach, and enjoyed the bathing. Mr. and Mrs. George Muhr motored to Los Angeles on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith and children, Cleo and Bobbie, Mary Louise Minch and Mr. McKnight left on Monday for a two weeks' camping trip to San Luis Olspo. Mr. J. T. Elimpson and Carl Snyder motored to Big Bear on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cawthorn and daughter motored to Los Angeles on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Lohr and Miss Jennie Weymeth, of Los Angeles, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cranston Tyler Sunday. P. N. Larson and family, Vernon King and family and Miss Clara Olmstead arrived home Tuesday evening from Coronado, where they enjoyed a five-day outing. J. Walker Abbey, of Alhambra, was a guest of the C. C. Violett home a couple of days the past week. Miss Geell Umphreas returned Thursday from Colton, where she spent a couple of days with friends. Anson Mott and family are enjoying a ten days' vacation at Huntington Beach. J. G. Allen motored to Oceanside Wednesday. J. M. Chilson and family spent Sunday with friends in Santa Ana. Nell Hots has purchased a new Nash touring car. Mr. and Mrs. Cranston and Tyler Kenneth spent Wednesday at Huntington Beach. John Steele, Jr., is visiting his sisters, Clara and Ruth Seele, at Long Beach this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Kerner returned last week from a few days' vacation which they spent at Murrietta, Elsiknore and Glen Ivy. Miss Doris Compton arrived here from Oakland unexpectedly Sunday and pleasantly surprised her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Rolfe. Miss Compton is a student at the University of California and this is her first visit to Garden Grove. She expects to remain here two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. J. Garrison and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Selton and two daughters enjoyed Sunday at Long Beach. C. E. Geren and family departed for their home at Saltna, Kansas, last Thursday, after an extended visit with friends and relatives in Garden Grove. Mrs. Newell Fording and daughter, Carol, of Anaheim, are spending a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jaman Smith. While the valleys are enjoying mid-summer, it is just Springtime in the mountain country and Alpine meadows. There are big fish to be caught, peaks to be climbed, trails for horseback riding and hiking and crystal clear lakes for swimming. The Tloga tour over the crest of the Sierra between the Yosemite and Lake Tahoe is in operation daily, traversing the finest mountain scenery in America and is proving especially popular. Special preparations are being provided at Yosemite for the entertainment during the month of August. The Sacramento Chamber of Commerce party, American Legion and nightly entertainments and dances will be held for the benefit of these visitors. Motorists touring through the forest and spring country of California's northwestern tier of counties during must should arrange to include Wilco Mendoza-co in their itinerary.
