NEWS OF FULLERTON FULLERTON FISHING PARTY SEES WHALES A party of Fullerton men enjoyed a deep sea fishing trip yesterday off Long Beach in a small fishing launch catching six albicorns weighing about 20 pounds each. The "fishermen" also reported that they saw three small whales about the boat, and Rev. H. B. Clark, who was one of the party, is said to have actually had the thrilling experience of having had a bite. He declares that if he had been watching closely, he might have landed it, tho he is not quite sure, since it is said to have been larger than the boat, or at any rate stronger. The party included: L. E. Plummer, John Kryder, Hilram Frey, Rev. H. B. Clark, William Page, J. B. Maxwell, Clarence Vanderberg, John Fridd, Carl Hiscott; A. J. BARDEEN OIL CO., 1 NOW RE-CEMENTED Puente Hills The Bardeen Oil company's No. 1 developed a little water in the six inch and is now standing re-cemented. The well will probably be opened the latter part of the week. The Chino-Corona United test well went on the pump early in the week and started off making oil and water. The production is going into the sump hole. Sand is bothering and necessitates frequent rod and tubing pulling. No line on the capacity of the well is yet available. It will take several days to pump the water off the formation and free the hole from sand. The International Petroleum Co.is making preparations to set a string of ten inch casing at 600 feet. Showings at this depth lead the International Petroleum officials to believe that they have a 25 bbl well. Should the well make a 25 barrel production or more it will be allowed to stand and a second well will be started at opee. The heavy showing of gas indicates that the oil will be a light gravity product. The Mahala Oil Co.is building rig for No. 2, No. 1 at 2250 is drilling in brown shale and showing up in a very encouraging manner. The St Helen's Petroleum Oil Co.of Cal are about to complete rigs for test wells in the Puente Hills district. This coupon good on any SWEEL in the country. This company has eight wells under way. Drilling started at Nesa No. 1 and Stakemiller No. 1. Alamitos No. 2 is a grade, and No. 2 is building rig. Lumber is on the ground for Wilbar No. 1. Jones No. 1 is grading for rig site. Babb and Tucker spudded in and is drilling. Horsch No. 1 is a rig. Alamitos No. 1 is producing at 650 barrels. A Lorraine gas trap was installed a few days ago. The trap arrested the drop in production and is making the well flow steadily at the above rate. Setting a record for carrying a string of 8" the Standard Oil Co. landed the string at 4251 and cemented Blxby No. 1. The Sandberg Petroleum Co. has taken over the Sighal Hill holdings of the Long Beach Consolidated and will develop the property. Sandburg No. 1 is drilling at 2400 in shale and shell. A showing of gas caused a little excitement one day last week. The showing was insignificant as the Shell struck no showings of any consequence short of 2700 feet. Sandburg No. 2 is rigged up ready to start drilling. Drilling on the Signal Hill Syndicate is now at 1275, the drilling going nicely in the sandy shale. The San Martenas Oil Co. is one of the fast moving concerns on the hill. The rig for No. 2 is up and No. 1 shows 2200 feet of hole. W. M. Keck is making some fast time at Signal Hill. Close to 1800 feet of hole was drilled during the past week bringing the depth down to date to 2600 feet. The formation is changing from shell to shale. The Crest Oil Co. plans to spud in and be drilling before the end of the week. The finishing touches are being put on the rigging up at Oceanic and drilling will start in a few days. Jack McKeon heads the company, a fact that should insure its success. The following concerns have rig erected at Signal Hill: Fisher Oil Co., Guaranty, Huntington Owners, National Crude, and the Signal Hill Oil and Gas Co. E. J. Milley spudded in and started drilling at Zemino No. 1 yesterday. The tariff has been discussed almost unequally in national politics for a century in this country, men debonairly get up in bed and launch into long discussions on the tariff it were a new subject. POTTER No. 2 MAKES 100 BARRELS Richfield The Amalgamated Oil Co.'s Potter No. 2 drilled to 2500 feet and showing more oil sand than any of the Amalgamated's Richfield wells came in a hundred barrels. On account of the good showing and the excessive amount of oil sand drilled thru this well was expected to make a much better producer. On the Thompson property across from the Petroleum Midway Krug holdings the Amalgamated is building a rig on the Thompson property. Bayha No. 1 at 1856 is drilling in conglomerate, and Page No. 1 at 2500 is fishing. Mann No. 1 is also fishing at 3465. At 4125 feet the Clark Oil Co. set a string of 6' at Wetzell No. 1 and cemented. Some good indications of oil were noted recently and the Clark management are very hopeful of getting a well. The Dependable Oil Trust have entered into negotiations for rotary contract drilling, a deal is expected to be closed in a few days and actual drilling will commence. Success of the Richfield-Torba, the Consolidated and Petroleum Midway makes the Dependable's property look like one of the sure things of the field. At 4880 feet the Fullerton Oil Co. struck the oil sand at Anaheim Union No. 1. This is 400 feet deeper than the adjoining well, the Standard Oil Co.'s Kraemer 2-12, a big producer at 4265. The Fullerton management was getting a little uneasy and beginning to wonder if there was a possibility of the well being off the structure. The sand at 4680 is not carrying much oil however. The General Petroleum is drilling out the cement bridge in the deep test well Group 2-1 drilled to 122 feet. A success water shut off may result in a small producer. Group No. 4-2 is drilling out the cement at 3211 Hugo No. 3 is drilling at 2300 in sandy shale. Osman No. 1 is running in the tubing at 3128 to make a production test. Stern No. 3 one of the G.P.'s best producers is running almost 40 per cent emulsion, the well 200 barrels and Bradford Bros. No. 3 is drilling in the brown shale at 2600 feet. Petroleum Midway is drilling at 4500, the formation is brown shale with an occasional streak of sand. The encouraging factor of the well is a strong gas pressure. It is believed this gas is coming from a sand at 4600 feet. The Camnanche Oil Co. has taken over the holdings of the Richfield Union Petroleum Co., at Placeia and will operate the holdings on a percentage basis of the production. The Camnanche Co. assumes the work at 2200 feet, will try to shut off the wafer and make a producer out of the well. Ror a number of days the Richfield Torba has been washing and cleaning out. Everything is being done to put the well in the best of production, condition and plenty of time is being taken to do the work effectively. There is little doubt that the well will make 400 barrels or more. Unable to loosen the pipe and carry it further the Ridge Oil Co., set a string of 9' at 2495. The slx lpcm is going ahead and the drilling resumed. Production is now expected at 4000 feet. The Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Co., is drilling two wells at Richfield. Wardman-Claxon No. 2 is down 2875 feet in sandy brown shale, W.C. No. 3 is a location and No. 4 at 2200 is in hard sand, No. 5 is new location building rig. On the Kraemer No. 2, the Standard is building a rig for No. 17, No. 16 spudded in last week and shows 1850 feet drilled, Kraemer 2-13 is 4200 and No. 14 is close to 4400 Both wells are looking good, No. 15 stands cemented at 2996, and No. 2 on the Kelog is drilling at 2800 feet, Veljar No. 1 has arrived at 5100 feet and does not look like a gusher. Loftus-Bryan another deep well stands cemented at 5098. The Wonder Co., Ltd. is building a rig for No. 3 on the Kraemer home place, No. 2 stands cemented at 3197, and No. 1 the big producer is as consistent as a clock at 1200 barrels. "The Forbidden Thing" will be the feature at the Grand again tonight. It is the story of a New England Puritan, dweller in a fishing village who casts aside the love of a good woman for a Portuguese siren, but pays dearly for his folly, causing the death of his mother, and suffering for all concerned. Tomorrow night Bebe Daniels will be seen in "Oh Lady, Lady!". Wallace Reid will be seen tonight and tomorrow night at the Fairland in "Too Much Speed." ARCADIA TO DRILL OUT PLUG AT 2975 Montebello Field Preparations are being made by the Arcadia Oil Co., to drill out the cement and test for a water shut off at 2975. At the time the cement plug was set a good showing of oil was reported. The Columbia Oil Co., is getting its Montebello wells into good shape. Adobe No. 4 is standing with the 8' set at 3014. Adobe No. 5 is drilling at 3300 and is in sandy shale, Scott-Arnold No.1 is making progress drilling at 2800 feet. The La Merced Oil Co., has made no improvement in its situation during the past week. Fishing for the lost 8' casing is still under way at Manly No.1 and Calkins No.1 still stands with no shut off on the water at 2745. The McGinley Oil Co., is getting ready to bring in No.12. Drilled to 3500 feet the well is in the deep sand and something good is expected from it, No.11 is redrilling at 3385, No.13 failed to get shut off at 3000 and was re-cemented. The latest to add to the Montebello field's production is the Petroleum Midway's P, and B.No.2, Drilled to 3535 the well started off at 100 barrels, Praugh No.9 is at 3200 in hard sand, Barry No.4, a new well, being rigged up. Baldwin7 is making hole again at 1800 feet, Germain ginning to wonder if there was a possibility of the well being off the structure. The sand at 4680 is not carrying much oil however. The General Petroleum is drilling out the cement bridge in the deep test well Group 2-1 drilled to 120 feet. A success water shut off may result in a small producer, Group No. 1-2 is drilling out the cement at 3211 Hugo No. 3 is drilling at 2300 in sandy shale. Osman No. 1 is running in the tubing at 3125 to make a production test. Stern No. 3, one of the G.P.'s, best producers is running almost 40 per cent emulsion, the well making close to 600 barrels. Thompson No. 1 is redrilling at 3145 and looks rather good. Yorba No. 1 turned out to be something of a disappointment, the well is making practically all water. It was drilled to 3427 and before brought in looked good for a hundred barrel well. The Merchants Oil Co., formerly the Harrington-Dumax is setting boilers and rigging up to start well No. 2. No. 1 has dropped to 250 barrels but is making a uniform production. Recent tests of water conditions in the Placentia Pacific Oil Co's No. 1 may result in a re-cementing job. Tests for water in the 8" shows water and in order to insure a perfect job it will probably be necessary to do some more work. The delay in the water situation is a little exasperating as the indications seem to point to a producer. The Placentia Oil Co. is drilling out the cement at 2875 and will have made a conclusive water test before the end of the week. The casing test was O.K. and no difficulty is anticipated on the cementing work. Some very favorable showings were reported at the time the casing was set. The Petroleum Development Co. is making preparations to bring in Bradford No: 3 at 4360 feet. The well has not been showing up very strong, nevertheless it is expected to do around 100 barrels. Bradford Community, the 4700 foot well is held up with a fishing job. Bradford No. 5 drilled to 4265 has settled down to building a rig for No. 11. No. 15 spudded in last week and shows 1820 feet drilled. Kraemer 2-13 is 4200 and No. 14 is close to 4400. Both wells are looking good. No. 15 stands cemented at 2996, and No. 2 on the Kelog is drilling at 2800 feet. Vejar No. 1 has arrived at 5100 feet and does not look like a gusher. Loftus-O'Bryan another deep well stands cemented at 5098. The Wonder Co., Ltd. is building a rig for No. 2 on the Kraemer home place. No. 2 stands cemented at 3197 and No. 1 the big producer is as consistent as a clock at 1200 barrels. FEAR MISSING WOMEN ARE KIDNAP VICTIMS LOS ANGELES, July 27—Fearing that his wife, Mrs. A.L.Beagle of 320 Netarine-st, Inglewood, and her companion, Mrs.C.L.Hutchins of the same address, may be victims of kidnappers, A.L.Beagle has asked the aid of police authorities to locate the missing women. Drilled to 3600 feet the well is in the deep sand and something good is expected from it. No. 11 is redrilling at 3285. No. 12 failed to get shut off at 3000 and was re-cemented. The latest to add to the Montebelto field's production is the Petroleum Midway's P. and B.No. 2. Drilled to 3535 the well started off at 100 barrels. Prugh No. 9 is at 3200 in hard sand. Barry No. 4, a new well, is being rigged up. Baldwin 7 is making hole again at 1800 feet. Germain I-B is held at 3745 drilling on iron. The Potter Oil Co. failed to get out of a fishing job on No. 2 at 3160 and is now going in with cable tools and will sidetrack.
