CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY
Going unannounced to the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Martenet, 20 of their friends gave them a lively reminder of their fifth or wooden wedding anniversary. After congratulations and merry felicitation tables and cards were produced and five hundred was played for some time. Winners of prizes, which were wooden articles, were Mrs. Martenet, first lady; Mr. Tausch, first for the men; Lady's consolation, Mrs. Tausch; men's consolation, Mr. Al Erickson. Tally cards were also of wood to further the anniversary motif.
The callers presented Mr. and Mrs. Martenet with a wooden gift in commemoration of the anniversary. They brought along refreshments of ice cream and cake which were served after the games. The congenial party was composed of the Messrs. and Mendames Dillon, Houtt, Erickson, Nowotny, J. E. Baker, Brus, Tausch, Kroeger, and Miss Betty Brus and Morris Martenet, with Mr. and Mrs. Martenet, the honorees.
BABY WELFARE DEPT. MEETS
The Baby Welfare department held its usual conference yesterday morning in the Central school building and was one of the very interesting sessions. The response is good, indeed, and all the little ones under supervision of Miss Keuhl show marked improvement. The conferences have been open less than one month and will continue thru the month of August in the Central building and at the same hours each Tuesday and Friday.
It is the ambition of the department to establish conferences in connection with the Mexican school in a short time, which, in Miss Keuhle's estimation, will be of greatest benefit and in a broad field.
MERRY FEW CLUB MEETS
The husbands and sweethearts with the members of the Merry Few club were guests last evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wilson on Breamore-st, making more appropriate the name of "Merry Many" for the meeting. The dinner was served on the lawn and later games and cards places supported by the King's Heralds, the other being a missionary orphanage in Moradabad, India, in charge of Miss G. Evelyn Hadden. The latter place is the home of many little ones who were made orphans by the flu epidemic of a few years ago. Articles for Christmas boxes are being made by the children here, and the work accomplished yesterday was the dressing of several dolls and the making of other dolls from stockings. The boys took charge of the ice cream cone sale, which they operated in a most business like manner.
The little workers pasted blank paper on picture postals to be put in box upon which they will ask the little Indian children to write a text in their native language. The box will contain toys and books and will be ready for shipment some time in August. The next meeting will be held in two weeks.

LONG BEACH, CAL.
July 25, 1921.
Mr. Wm. K. Mead—Gen. Sales Mgr.
Bolsa-Chica Oil and Gas Syndicate,
221 E. Ocean Ave., Long Beach, Cal.
Dear Sir:
Please take notice that after Thursday, July 28th, the price of all unsold lots will be advanced to $500 per lot.
This refers to the lots on Bolsa-Chica Dome owned by us that are leased to The Standard Oil Co.—and which lots you are now selling for $200.
We have just acquired certain reports effecting early oil developments on Bolsa-Chica Dome—that are sufficiently favorable in our opinion to warrant the new price of $500. At any rate after July 28th—the date you have advertised an advance—we do not care to sell any lots at less than $500, and reserve the right to advance that price without notice.
Respectfully,
JOHN S. HARPER,
H. C. DAVIDSON.
