Abrams Book Store 116 W.Center,Anaheim THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA FORD DISTRIBUTORS EXAMINED OFTEN To keep the Ford factories at the present record rate of production, the sales organization throut the country is being constantly kept on its toes by "official visits" from inspectors and representatives from the factory. Formerly these inspections came but two or three times a year. Now, they are as unexpected and come more frequently than bank examinations. George Dunton, Anaheim Ford and Fordson agent, has been paid several "official visits" since moving into his new garage. Be it said for Dunton, that the factory representatives must be very well satisfied with the largest garage in Orange-co, as they are continually sending Ford dealers from other sections to Anaheim to look over Dunton's layout. Within the last week, Dunton has been visited by George Haberfelde, of Bakersfield, president of the Cal. Auto Trades Association, and largest Ford and Fordson distributor in So. Cal. He was accompanied by Mrs. Haberfelde and daughter. Ford dealers from Covina, Glendale and Riverside have also been here within the last week. J. B. Groves, assistant manager of the Ford Company in Los Angeles, and L. T. Henderson, traveling representative of the Ford factory, have just completed another "official visit." Dunton has just received the following comment on his new garage from E. C. LeMunyon, of the Tractor Train Co., Los Angeles: "I passed thru your fair city Sunday and wish to compliment you on the very fine appearance of your new building—sales and stock room, as seen from the street. In my travels up and down the Pacific Coast and the Recky Mountain States, I have not seen a nicer looking Ford agency than yours." $5000 DAMAGE CASE OF BABY DEFERRED A civil action brot by William Beazayl, guardian of John Bezayl, an infant against Paul Love, H. T. GETTING READY FOR REUNION OF 91ST A strenuous effort to pull every veteran of the 91st division who is not in the hospital or on a honey-moon on Sept. 24 and 25 to the annual reunion of the division in Los Angeles on those dates began this week with the enlistment of a full company of newspaper men to spread news of the arrangements for the reunion as they are made. In a short time recruiting committees are to be named in each community in the Ninth Corps area and thru them re-enlistments in the 91st for the duration of the reunion will be obtained. Between 15,000 and 20,000 are expected to attend. Banquets, parades, elections, campfires, speeches and excursions are on the program. Since Orange-co furnished the 91st division with several hundred soldiers, the reunion of the division in Los Angeles, close home, will be of interest to a large number of ex-service men in this county. WATCH YOUR PUMP WITH CASING-HEAD Watch your pumps. This advice to garage and service station men selling blended or cinghead gasoline was given today by George McPhee, county scaler of weights and measures. These trades are highly volatile and of high specific gravity and because of these facts pumps in summer are liable to pull short from one quart to half gallon in a five-gallon draw, he declares. He says the stroke of the pump must be lengthened to get the full measure should a pump be drawing short. This condition is liable only in pumps that draw. McPhee says that drop cylinder pumps are all right, as they push instead of pull the gasoline. Casing-head gasoline — what is it? How many motorists know what it is? It is described in a service bulletin, issued by a Los Angeles pump firm as follows: Placentia News PLACENTIA, July 19. (Spl.)—Mr. Jack Gaines and family spent the week-end at the Modieka ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Kraemer and family spent the day at Redondo Friday. Mrs. Joseph Tayles and little daughter Dorothy, attended a birthday party given by relatives for her grandfather, Mr. Moss, of Fullerton, in celebration of his 73rd birthday. In the center of the tastefully arranged table stood a large birthday cake decorated with flags and candles. Mr. Moss was the recipient of many beautiful and appropriate gifts. $5000 DAMAGE CASE OF BABY DEFERRED A civil action brot by William Bezayiff, guardian of John Bezayiff, an infant against Paul Love, H. T. Brown, John Pugh and C. M. Ireland, for $5000 damages, did not come up in department No. 1 of the superior court yesterday as scheduled. By stipulation of attorneys the case was reset for trial in October. The plaintiff alleges Love was driving an auto while intoxicated, Oct. 11, 1920, when he lost control of the machine. The car is said to have jumped a curbing in front of $39 Summit-ave, Los Angeles, climbed an embankment and to have hit John Bezayiff, who was playing in a vacant lot. According to the complaint, the child sustained several cuts and bruises on his face and chest. While the action is aimed particularly at Paul Love, Brown, Puga and Ireland are alleged to have been in Love's car and intoxicated at the time of the accident. It is understood the defendants live in Orange-co. Be sure and see "Sentimental Tommy" at New Fairland Wednesday and Thursday, July 20, 21. A parmmount picture founded on James M. Harry Haines, a former schoolmate of Orville and Ed Pember, is visiting with friends here. Mr. Haines' home is in Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Pohlman and family drove to Pomona to pass the day Sunday. They found the interior country very warm. It is described in a service bulletin, issued by a Los Angeles pump firm, as follows: "Methods have been devised for collecting the casing-head gas (until recently regarded as waste) which is given off by many oil wells. After subjecting this collected gas to pressures which range from 50 to 250 or 350 pounds it is forced into cooling coils, where, under favorable conditions, condensation takes place, like the condensation on a glass of ice water in the summer. “This liquified gas, of 'condensate,' as it is called, is run into accumulator tanks where it is permitted to remain for a certain period." “This 'condensate' is highly volatile, or, in other words, it boils at a very low temperature. To oil men it is known as 'wild' liquid. The more volatile portion of the 'wild condensate' in the accumulator tanks passes off into the atmosphere and the liquid which remains is said to have been 'weathered.'" "The weathered condensate may or may not be put thru another compressor stage, but in any event the net result is, that after the final weathering process the gasoline which remains is usually highly volatile and is of high specific gravity. This is the pure casing-head gasoline." "By mixing a low grade of naptha with casing-head gasoline a commercial fuel of comparatively high specific gravity is obtained. The act of mixing the two grades of gasoline is called 'blending' and the new gasoline is commonly referred to as 'blended.'" LILLIES LEAVE FOR TRIP TO LAKE TAHOE PLACENTIA, July 19.(Spl.)
