L.T.L. WILL GIVE PROGRAM THURSDAY GARDEN GROVE, July 14—The Loyal Temperance Legion will meet with Mrs. W. B. Harper Thursday, July 21, from 2 until 5 p.m. This date is the national red-letter day and also the first anniversary of the local organization, and not only are members of the L. T. L. asked to take part in the rally, but any children between the ages of six and fourteen years are invited. Each child is asked to make and bring a flag of any nation he may choose and prizes will be given for the best. Prizes will be awarded to those who have stained out the most cigar and cigarette stumps. Refreshments of ice cream and cookies will be served. The regular monthly meeting of the Baptist Missionary circle was held at the home of Mrs. C. E. Pollins Wednesday afternoon. Devotions were given by the following ladies on the subject, "What Shall We Do With Our Bible?" Mrs. Edward Arrowsmith, Mrs. Bertha Allen, Mrs. Amy Graves, Mrs. Luila Beardsley and Mrs. Dorothy Oertly. The regular business session was held, followed by an interesting program. The history of the three Baptist Gospel Cruisers was given. Mrs. P. M. German gave the history of the "Lifeline," which is in Coos Bay, Ore. Mrs. Lulu Beardsley told of the work of the "Crozler" around the forty islands in the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers. Mrs. Bertha Allen gave the history of the lost cruiser "Robert G. Seymore," which is in the Puget Sound. Mrs. Edward Arrowsmith conducted the question box. The members were divided into two sides to answer the questions. The meeting was closed with "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," played on the Victrola. Miss Gladys Koch of Fullerton, Miss Marie Bodenhamer and Frank and Jim McCabe of Huntington Beach spent Wednesday at Long Beach and San Pedro. Mrs. Vienna Donelson entertained the following guests Sunday: Mrs. Swayze, Paul Swayze and little daughter, Velma, of Alamitos, Ladd Parmeley and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dyer of Mr. and Mrs. Fox of Fullerton, Friday. Mr. William Morgan of Arizona is visiting Mr. J. O. Conn. Mr. and Mrs. Neutwig of Glendale visited Mrs. Nentwig's sister, Mrs. D.J.A. Little and family, the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Longstreet, Mrs. and Mrs. Loren Robinson and Mrs. Otis Peek attended the Elks' parade Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. John Richherrison visited friends in Stanton Thursday evening. Mrs. J. Travern is to be hostess at a luncheon given at the home of her mother, Mrs. James, of Los Angeles Tuesday afternoon. The luncheon will be in honor of old friends. Mrs. Edgar Gond, who has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. C.A.McHenry, returned to her home in San Pedro. Mr. and Mrs. W.H.Balley, of the Mr. and Mrs.W.H.alley, of the Olinda Land Co., who have been on an extended tour in the cast visiting various places of interest have returned to Los Angeles, where they will probably make their home. Mr. Nentwig and niece, Dorothy Little, were Riverside visitors Tuesday. Miss Gladys and Sadie Veils attended a party Thursday evening at the home of Miss Peggy Johnson at Balboa Lindau. Mr. and Mrs.L.Llyman and family were Ontario and Azusa visitors Saturday. Miss Gladys and Sadie Veils, Messare, Orville Stanberry of Yorilla Lindau and Harold Mills of Anaheim were Balboa visitors Saturday night. The County of Orange is to furnish eight thousand (8000) tons of crushed fowl, five hundred (500) tons of amphitium, and four thousand five hundred (4500) cubic yards of gravel to be furnished therewith, shown by the specifications on file herein mounting to a total cost of Eighteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty-one ($18,751.00) Dollars, as more particularly set forth in said specifications. For the costs and expenses of the work and the proceedings, hands will be issued to the materials furnished by the rate of six per centum, one-tenth part of the principal of said bonds payable annually, all in gold coin of the United States, and the aggregate principal of said bonds shall be paid and charged within ten years from the issuance of a special fund for the payment of said bonds is to be computed by the levy or special assessment taxes upon all land within a district known as "Blood Improvement District No. 7" of the county of Orange," and partly by transfers of money from County Road Funds.
