Monday, July 18, 1921 City Briefs Mrs. Marguerite Thomas enjoyed a several days vacation last week visiting her mother in Venice and attending the Elks' entertainments in Los Angeles. H. L. Potter is in Los Angeles to business for the Hammel Mule Co. Mr. H. F. Dierker has returned from high Sierras where he has been with a party of Los Angeles friends for the past eighteen days. They bought lots of fish and report a wonderful time. Mr. and Mrs. Grecson have returned home to Imperial Valley after visiting with Mrs. H. F. Dierker while Dierker was on his holidays. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Dwyer spent the weekend at Anaheim Landing. Mrs. J. B. Wetherell who has been sitting Mrs. John Eells for two months is returning to her home in Portland. Ore. She will visit at Exeter and Stockton on her way. Mr. Jimmie Boyd spent Sunday at Albon. Mr. and Mrs. John Rounledge andaughter attended the conference at Long Beach yesterday in the First Refreshment church. Mr. Ira Chandler went to Balboe yesterday with a party of friends. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Rousseau and children and Mrs. S. E. Cave motor to Huntington Beach yesterday for the day. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Eaton, accompanied by Mr. J. H. Gnuggy of Breed and Mr. C. H. Pterey of Yorba Lindere in Long Beach yesterday. They were attending the annual conference of the So Cal., denominations at the first Brethera church there. They heard some very able speakers, Rev T. Bauman, the pastor, and Revarr of the Baptist church, at Pasana spoke. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hatcher spent easterday afternoon at Balboe Beach. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Pergus informed Los Angeles yesterday, accompanied by her sisters, Miss May and Agner Lowl, and Miss Naomi and Loretta Blissgerald. They spent the afternoon Santa Monica. Master Donald Fergus returned home from a visit in Los Angeles yesterday. Los Angeles visitors Saturday evening. Mrs. Murrihead of Buena Park who has been quite ill recently with tonsillitis is recovering. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wilson of Santa Anna, were guests yesterday at the home of the W. J. Llewellyn family. Mr. and Mrs. George Reeks, of Los Angeles, visited with their daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith and family. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Eddy and daughter, Katherine, Mr. and Mrs. H.Fathaway and Mrs.Canby were dinner guests yesterday of Mr. and Mrs.Gus Blom. Mr. and Mrs.Will Lewis, of Stockton, Mo., were guests for a few days recently of Mr. and Mrs.H.Barter, Mr.Lewls and Mr.Barter being cousins, Mr.Lewls tax collector of Stockton, and with his wife is making a tour of the Pacific coast cities. Mr. and Mrs.H.Barter were guests yesterday of Mrs.Anna Barter, mother of Mr.Barter, in Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs.J.E.Barker and Mrand Mrs.N.F.Sanderson enjoyed the day at Long Beach yesterday. Mr. and Mrs.H.Barter were host and hostess at dinner Thursday evening to Mr. and Mrs.E.D.Martin and daughter, Anna, of Los Angeles, they remaining for a visit the following day, Mr.Barter and MrsMartin are sister and brother. Miss Ruth Palmer and Miss Elsa Bloch are enjoying a two weeks vacation from their duties in the Ford garage, the present week being passed together in Catalina, Miss Panier and members of her family will take a motor trip next week, probably to Yosemite. Mr. and Mrs.Gerald Whitaker of San Francisco arrived today for a visit with Mr.Wituker's parents, Mrand Mrs.J.H.Wituker. Mr. and Mrs.C.C.Randall and children spent Sunday at Newport. Mr.C.Ward, of Los Angeles, was the guest over the week-end of his cousin, J.S.Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Dolan and family were at Long Beach yesterday. Miss Betty West and Miss Lydia Davies spent yesterday at Balbon. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Jensen and Robert spent Sunday at Balbon. Mrs. McEve spent the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. Thomas, at the Colonial apartments. Mr. and Mrs. John Cook and Ella Bill spent the week-end at their villa at Laguna. Mr.,and Mrs.W.M.Martinet and Mr.,and Mrs.E.Brus and Miss Betty Brus passed the day yesterday with Mr.,and Mrs.L.Z.Kroeger at Anaheim Landing where the latter are passing their vacation. Mr.,and Mrs.W.T.McAllister enjoyed a drive to Beaumont and into the Yucalpa valley Saturday. Miss Louise Denton of Milette,S.D., will arrive this evening for a several weeks' visit with her friend Mrs.W.J.Heinz.Mrs.Heinz and Miss Denton were college mates in St.Clara College,Sinsinawa,Wisconsin,and as this is there first meeting in four years it will be a most happy one. Miss Irene Millis is a member of a party motoring north, their objective being a point beyond San Francisco.The party went in two machines, leaving Friday morning at 6 o'clock.Word from Bakersfield received by relatives here state they were going fine but the weather was exceedingly warm. Mrs.Lyman Davis and baby visited Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles with friends. Miss Alta Lagourgue,of Phoenix,Arizona,and Mrs.Pearl Meeks,and baby son,Bill,also of Phoenix,are visiting Miss Lagourgue's parents,Mr,and Mrs.F.R.Lagourgue for two weeks. Mr.,and Mrs.Frank Murch and Mrs.Murch's parents,Mr,and Mrs.J.Meeves.of Downing,motored to San Pedro for the day yesterday. Frank Murch went to Los Angeles Friday evening where he attended the middleweight championship wrestling match between Walter Miller and Ted Thye,the former winning the title.The contest was very close conscientiously interesting. The Seal Beach dance pavilion has been reserved for the exclusive use of members of O. E. S., Masons and their friends on Wednesday evening, July 20, when the big annual Mas- and Eastern Star picnic will be held. Members of the orders will go to Anaheim Landing at 6:30 for a picnic supper, following a dip in the surf, and remain there until the cur-for dancing. A good orchestra will furnish the dance music and all no attend are assured of one grand one. All who have not yet secured their tickets are requested to get them at once from H. O. Henderson. CHAT 'N SEAU PLANS PICNIC Members of the Chat 'N Seau club with their husbands and sweethearts are planning a picnic to be held Friday evening, July 22, in Orange-coark. The supper will be served at 7 o'clock, after which dancing in the pavilion will be indulged in the remainder of the evening. All members are urged to take notice. YEOMAN LODGE MEETS TONIGHT SPEND WEEK END NEAR MT LOWE Accompanied by their teacher, Miss Young, of the fifth and six grades in the Loara school, and by Miss Frances Reed, nine little girls are enjoying a rare outing and camping trip in the mountains near Mt. Lowe. They left Saturday and will remain away for a week. The merry party consists of the following-named girls, Leona McAllister, Ember Hynes, Grace Smith, Marjorie Reed, Mary Forsythe, Novello Berry, Evelyn Strudloff, Fay Stanley and Mabel Gust. They were joined by some Pasadena girls making a round dozen besides the grown-ups. GLEE CLUB MEETS TUESDAY The Glee Club of the Methodist White Temple will meet tomorrow—Tuesday—evening at 7 o'clock at the home of Mrs. C. A. McCullah. Every member is asked to be present and to kindly note the change in the hour of meeting from 7:30 to 7 p.m. 7:30 to 7 p.m. P.E.O.MILL MEET WEDNESDAY The P.E.O. chapter will meet Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. F. T. Edmiston to do some philanthropic sewing. The sewing will require all afternoon and the ladies are asked to go early. URGE ROBERTS TO SUCCEED WRIGHT The juvenile court committee of Orange-co has recommended to R. Y. Williams, judge of the juvenile court of Orange-co, that R. R. Miller, for ten months secretary of the Orange-co, Y. M. C.A., be appointed probation officer of the county to succeed Paul E. Wright, whose resignation will take effect within two months. The juvenile court committee consists of J. Cranston, Mrs. W. B. Bedford, W. C. Roberts, A.J. Visel, Mrs.F.T. Edmiston, Anaheim, Albert Sitton, Fullerton, and Mrs.W.M.Smart.
