AUTO CLUB OFFERS TEST A LA EDISON A test for motorists which rivals the "intelligence" test recently given by Edison, has been officially prepared by the Auto Club of So. Calif. through its touring bureau. This test is prepared for the purpose of finding out how good a motorist each auto owner is, in the So. Part of the state. If you can answer 15 of the 25 questions asked by the club you may consider yourself a motorist of average ability. If you can answer 20 of the questions you may consider yourself of exceptional ability. If you can answer all of the questions, you are a motorists without a peer. These questions, issued to the public today, are not "stickers" but are the average questions asked over the touring bureau counters every day of the week. Here are the brain-teasers — see how many you can answer: Where is Strong Station, Calif.? Where is the largest lumber mill in this state? Where is Hobo Hot Springs? How far can you drive into Lockwood Valley and where is this valley located? Where is Triumpho? Where is the detour located in Mint Canyon? Where is Apply Valley? Where is Paradise Valley? What is the other name for San Gorgonio Mountains? In what National park in California is Crystal Cave located? Can cats or dogs be taken into Yosemite National Park? Where is Dog Lake? Where is Pre de Porka Pass? Where is Baker Station? Give the name of resort there? Where is Blood, Calif.? Where is Delamar Resort? Where is Peanut? Where is Gold Lake? Where is Stove Pipe Wells? Where is Wild Rose Canyon? Where is Palamar Mountains? Where is Redman, Calif.? Where is the Pinnacles National Forest? Where is Dead Maff's Point? SAVAGE HAS DISPLAY OF INDIAN RELICS An interesting collection of valuable Indian regalia and relics is now on display at the general offices of the Spreckles "Savage" Tire Company in San Diego, Calif. This collection is the property of Raymund V. Morris, vice president and general manager of the company. I feature an 84-inch Sioux war-bonnet with a single tail, made especially for use on foot. All the feathers in this big bonnet are genuine eagle feathers, which have always been difficult to procure and are now rare and expensive. Included in the exhibit are an Indian scout vest, scalplock coat, dance bustle formerly belonging to Chief Eagle Eye, beaded blanket, ghost dance shirt, medicine bag, buckskin leggings, war cap, peace pipe, war club, hair bridle, beaded moccasins, and numerous other Indian articles of adornment or utility. FIVE REASONS FOR BATTERY SUCCESS In response to a question as to what he attributed his success in building up a battery service business in this city, Mr. West, manager of the local Vesta service station, replied: "There are just five reasons for our success. Four of these are patented and are inside the battery itself. The fifth is our policy of helping the motorist get every bit of service possible out of his battery regardless of its make." In order to supply immediate service to auto owners a Vesta service station has been opened in Placentia by Auto Electric Maintenance Co. Ta ANAHEIM 306 North Los Angeles St Phone 490 THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA FORD PLANT BUILDS 108,962 IN MONTH During the month of June, the Ford Motor Co., thru its Detroit factories and 22 assembly plants throughout the country reached the production of 108,972 Ford cars and trucks, setting up a new high record for one month. Production of Ford cars and trucks has been steadily increasing since early spring, and shows substantial gains over the same period last year. The second quarter of 1921, viz. May and June, shows an output of 301,796 Ford cars and trucks against 220,878 for the same period last year, or a net increase of 80,918. Despite the fact, however, that the Ford plants have been running at maximum capacity, the demand for Ford cars and trucks is not being met, and at the present time, many thousands of unfilled orders have been piled up ahead so that Ford sales are still limited by manufacturing facilities rather than marketing possibilities. Particularly is this true with respect to enclosed cars, for which the demand has been unusually heavy. One reason cited by Ford officials for the unprecedented demand for Ford cars is the present tendency toward economy. Many of those whose names have been added to the long list of buyers might well have affirmed larger and more costly cars than the Ford, but it is the belief that most prospective motor car buyers are investigating all of the costs incident to motoring much more carefully than at any period during the past five years. The estimated output of the Ford factories for July calls for 109,000 cars and trucks, or a production of 4360 a day for 25 days. Since the assembling of cars is being handled during an eight hour work day only the hourly output will be 545 cars. In other words, one Ford car or truck leaves the assembly line every 6-1-2 seconds. AMERICAN LEGION WILL MEET TUESDAY There will be a meeting of Anaheim Post No. 72, American Legion, Tuesday, July 19, at 8 p.m. State delegates to the state convention held in Yosemite will be elected. Refreshments, music and a general good time will all be on the program for the meeting. Every member is asked to come and bring a new member. ANOTHER BOOST FOR MAXWELL ECONOMY Here is another boost for the Maxwell, coming right on the heels of the car's numerous sensational economy performances of recent days. In last week's economy run staged by the Sacramento Associated Motor Car Dealers, from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe and return, the sturdy Maxwell was returned a class winner, averaging 24.4 miles per gallon of gasoline over the difficult course of 256 miles. The Sacramento-Tahoe run included a course from Sacramento via Emigrant Pass and Truckee to Tahoe and return by way of Placerville. The sturdy Maxwell is getting the habit of record breaking as the recent run from Oakland to Portland will bear witness and the mark set by J. M. Seymour of San Francisco in his trip from Sacramento to the Reilo Bridge.
