ESTIC SCIENCE MEETS THURS ie meeting of the domestic ice department of the Ebell club be held Thursday afternoon at ADVANCEMENT CEREMONIES Advancement ceremonies for officers of Chisp's Chapter, O. E. S., were held last evening in Masonic hall, followed by a social hour and lunch-eon. The chapter room was beautifully trimmed with zenias of many colors, and large jardineries of long stemmed flowers were tastefully arranged. Mrs. J. P. Brastad was raised to worthy matron, from associate matron, and her work was so beautifully performed that she was presented with a bouquet from the retiring matron, Mrs. Maude Adams. Mrs. Dean Hasson was raised to associate matron, but not being present early in the evening, her position was gracefully filled by Mrs. J. A. Clayes. Mrs. Blanche Daniels advanced from associate conductress to conductress, and Mrs. Daisy Mann serves as associate conductress. The rites were especially well performed last evening and won the praise of the visiting members from Norwalk, Santa Ana, Fullerton and Whittier. Initiation was conferred upon six candidates, Mr. and Mrs. Maguthan, Mr. and Mrs. Billig, and daughter, Miss Margaret Billig, and Paul Taggeri. During the services Mrs. H. O. Henderson sang beautifully and impressively several appropriate selections. Ice cream, cake and coffee were served by the committee composed of the K's and L's, Mrs. J. T. Lyon being chairman. The tables were graced with red and orange dahlias intertwined with asparagus ferns, and places were marked for more than 100 persons. BABY WELFARE INTEREST GROWS The Baby Welfare Conference held in the Central school building each Tuesday and Friday, between the hours of 9 and 10 in the morning, is being well attended and inquiries show increasing interest in the work. Miss Maragret Kuehl, public nurse is in charge and welcomes Anaheim mothers and their babies to all sessions. It is strictly a nutritional clinic where young mothers are given advice on what and how to feed their babies, and are given advise on their physical welfare. Miss Kuehl follows up all examinations. William Hafefann, Herman Spoonholla and Granger, of Los Angeles were guests at the J. L. Schumacher home today. The eastern callers were former acquaintance of the Schumacher family. They are now touring the coast and will return home via Oregon, Washington and Canada. Charles A Bishop and family have arrived from Paso Robles to make their home in Anaheim, and are now located at 924 West Broadway, Mr. Bishop will have charge of the fumigating and spraying business of F. R. Scouten. He is an experienced man, being one of the original workers in the fumigating business. F. H. Scouten and family have returned from a month's vacation passed at Hook Creek, in Little Bear Valley. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Sandilands and son, Donald, passed today in Los Angeles. Mrs. W. J. Liewelllyn and two children and Mrs. and Mrs. Schmidt and daughter, Marjorie, were Los Angeles visitors yesterday. Mrs. C. Schnitzler has gone to Newport to pass a few days with her daughter, Mrs. H. G. Melser. Miss Mattie Lon Robertson, principal of Central school, leaves this week for an extended trip thru the east. Word to Mrs. R. H. Seale from the O. H. Renner party motoring in the north, states that they have had a wonderful trip and think Portland is a very nice city. They had also visited Vancouver, B.C. The Misses Carrie and Stella Schwentker, of East Broadway, will tomorrow to Ocean Park where they will join their brother, Dr. J. O. Schwentker, and family, for a week's outing. Who, with his family is shending the summer in the mountains in New Mexico, visited Sunday with his sisters the Misses Carrie and Stella Schwentker. He had been attending the Pacific Mutual convention in Los Angeles. Mrs. W. H. Kidd is entertaining her brother, Mr. Vivian, from Grass Valley, Nevada-cot, for several days. King went to Los Angeles this morning to meet her mother and sister who will arrive from Denton, Texas, for a two month's visit. Mrs. H. M. King is somewhat improved since returning to her home from the Anaheim sanitarium. Mrs. W. H. Kidd and her brother, Mr. Vivian, spent Sunday at Seal Beach and Anaheim Landing. Mr. and Mrs. M. Pettit of Freshbend and Rev. James Nelson and family, of Garvalin, were dinner guests Monday evening of Mrs. Frances Nelson and Miss C. Marie Nelson. Little Miss Cylene Marle Middleham of Riveraide is spending the week with her grandmother, Mrs. Frances Nelson, of 407 East Center-st. South Palm-at., between Center and Broadway was treated to a coat of oil yesterday and today. O. B. Baxter and wife left Monday afternoon for a vacation near Bishon-Fishing will be the chief sport. Miss Labelle Squires, of Olive, was the guest several days this week of her aunt, Mrs. R. H. Seale. Mrs. W. A. Ross has been indisposed for several days. Mr. and Mrs. N. M.
