When the full history of the worldwide epidemic of influenza, starting a few years ago, shall have been written, it will be one of the most terrible pages in the history of dire maladies. Victims died literally by millions, while vast numbers were left impaired in health. The scientist who isolates the influenza germ and finds no specific for it will bestow a great boon upon mankind.
The United States should hasten the making of formal peace with the Central powers. It also should evolve with reasonable expeditiousness, its definite policy as to the fostering or world peace. Nothing in connection with this should be done precipitately or blindly. But the world is language-bringing for America's assurance and its leadership in promoting just and lasting concord among all nations.
WESTERN SHIPMENTS CUT FREIGHT COST
Shipment of citrus fruits by way of the Panama canal to Atlantic and European seaports at a saving of 60 cents a box on lemons and 70 cents a box on oranges is announced by the California Fruit exchange.
The saving this year on the total shipment to date by the water route in preference to rail amounts to $85,-173,20, according to exchange reports. Since Jan. 1, 225 carloads of oranges and lemons have been shipped by the water route.
Cargoes from Los Angeles harbor to Philadelphia, Savannah, London, New York, Boston and Rotterdam have included 90,427 boxes of lemons and 41,-310 boxes of oranges. The largest shipment of citrus fruit this year from the harbor, it is said consisted of 16,-000 boxes of lemons and 6000 boxes of oranges, destined for New York, 55 refrigerator cars would have been necessary to carry this shipment by rail.

Patrol of forest reserves by airships has proven to be very effective and very useful. This service is valuable in that it makes possible the discovery of incipient blazes and the prompt reporting of same to rangers nearest the embryo fire. Many a blaze that otherwise would have been disastrous has been checked in this way.
Take your day's work seriously but not sorrowfully. Do it with your might. Put your heart into it. This is the best attitude for one to assume. The listless, indifferent worker does not rise high in his employment. Besides, listlessness and indifference and hirking moods react upon one's character. Be honest and straightforward with yourself and with your day's work.
How many persons really and truly think—think for themselves and think habitually? It may seem a frivolous question. But if any community were canvassed and all of its people were put to test, the number who do not think would be found to be startling large. Multitudes put in day after day, week after week, month after month, getting by with the minimum of real thinking—taking their thots ready prepared and predigested. It is a mind withering process. Vigorous self-thinking stimulates the mind and promotes health.

Don't stop feeding your hens just because they stop laying eggs. The moulting season will soon be here and upon entering this critical period it is more important than ever not only that hens be regularly fed, but that their feed include the correct ingredients.
Harnett's L. B. Laying Mash
Has earned its high reputation with professional poultryman and women because they have learned that they can depend upon it for conditioning their flocks. If you want your hens to come through the moult quickly and easily now is the time to get them and keep them in the proper condition.
Others Profiting, Why Not Yourself?
Scrupulous care in blending and mixing the carefully selected ingredients make Harnett's L. B. poultry feeds the finest on the market today. Years of tests and exhaustive experiments were conducted before E. T. Harnett was willing to put his name behind his products. We have no "stranglehold" on the poultry feed matter; we are not the largest concern in California, but we DO say THIS: Harnett's L. B. Laying Mash and Scratch Feed have won favor every place they have been given a trial. As a wise poultry raiser out to get the most from your flock, you can't afford not to at least give Harnett's L. B. Products a trial.

YOSEMITE TRAVEL BREAKS RECORD
For the unprecedented amount of motor car travel registered, the 1921 season at the Yosemite National Park will go down in traffic abnals as one of the heaviest ever, according to Foster Curry, of Camp Curry.
During the week ending June 18 all records for travel for any one week were broken when 6,489 people entered the park, of which 4,450 came in, 1,253 automobiles. Altho tabulations are not on hand, according to Curry, the record for parties traveling in closed cars has been especially heavy. Up to June 18 a total of more than 30,000 people have visited the park during the present season, rigures more than 5,000 in excess of the total reached to the same date last year.
With weather conditions apparently finally settled, all roads to the park are in excellent condition and with the fishing streams rapidly reaching their best, June will undoubtedly show a travel far in excess of that for any previous month in the history of the park.
A recent Inspection of Tloga Road has shown the snow is melting rapidly, indicating that it will be free by July 1st. The road is reported, however, to be badly washed in places and it will take considerable repair work to make it passable. With a road crew already busily engaged, though, this road should be open on schedule at time, that it, July 15th or very possibly a few days earlier than this.
In a recent wire from Camp Curry, it is deemed advisable that motorists secure reservations or carry camping outfits. The Camp Curry management announces that it will not be able to handle motorists without reservations up to the first day of August. On June 20 all records for the resort were broken by 200, with 1332 people registered at Camp Curry.
MINISTERS FAVOR PARENTAL SCHOOL
The ministers of Orange county are represented in the Clerical club of Orange county yesterday are squarely on record in favor of a parental school.
The need of a parental school has been emphasized lately by county and school authorities in this county. A number of ministers have been giving the matter a good deal of thought, and the matter was brot up at the picnic meeting of the club.
If established, the school will be maintained by school funds.
Over fifty persons gathered at Balboa Beach yesterday at the picnic of the ministers of the county.
The occasion was the regular monthly meeting of the Santa Ana Ministerial union, but decision was recently made to have the June meeting take the form of a picnic and include all the pastors of the county and their wives and families.
The Rev. John Oliver of Santa Ana and the Rev. J. A. Gelsinger of Anaheim, have summer cottages at Balboa, so they extended an invitation to the members to make their colleges headquarters for the day. This was done and the bountiful picnic dinner was eaten at the Gelssinger cottage where the two hosts added quantities of ice cream to the menu.
A complete absence of formality marked the day, which was spent largely in and on the water. A launch was pressed into service and a long ride on the bay and out on the ocean gave a great deal of enjoyment to the entire crowd. In the various swimming stunts which were introduced during the day, the ministers, one and all, announced that the laurens should go to the Baptist and Christian churches who were present.
Tentative plans for a similar outing for next year were discussed and Camp Baldy was suggested as a gathering place for the members.
Business was avoided so far as possible, although one resolution was passed by the assembled pastors in the name of the Clerical Club of Oranbe county. The resolution is as follows:
"Whereas, it has come to our attention that there are over 300 wards of the juvenile court, in this city; and whereas, nearly all delinquency begins with truancy; be it therefore."

Lower Nash prices will be reduced, effective July 2.
This conforms to our statement made last October that Nash prices would be maintained until at least July 1, 1921.
The reasons were plain. Until manufacturing costs were lower we could not price without cutting value, as Nash prices were not inflated.
We pointed out then that while the average rise in the price of motor cars for four-year period had been 76% the price of Nash cars had been raised but 31%.
This 31% included the addition of co-tires as standard equipment and many other additions and refinements which add materially to the value of Nash cars.
So we re-affirmed our fixed intention rigidly upholding the high quality of Nash cars.
