There will be a "Top Working" demonstration held by the Farm Center at the Murray Horne ranch on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. It will pay all citrus growers to take an hour off and attend. Mrs. Julia Selover and Mrs. Delin Miller were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Selover, Sunday. ARCADIA MEETING at 3120 No. 2 is drilling at 3225 in hard sand. The Petroleum Midway has completed Baldwin No. 9 and the new well started off making 200 barrels. The completion dept is 3600.Fishing at Baldwin No. 11 is holding up the drilling at 3265.Prugh No. 9 at 2900 in hard sand is showing some good indications,Germain No.1-B drilled to 3700 is redrilling at 3450. On the Baldwin property one Standard has only two wells actually making hole.Baldwin No. 56 was completed recently at 2687 and is making 375 barrels.No. 53 Baldwin is waiting for repairs for some special electrical machinery.No. 57-A,the deep test well,is at 3425.On the Templer property one well.No.14.is drilling at 1900 feet. Nutt No.1, the St Henens' Petroleum Co.'s deep test well drilled originally to 4008 feet and plugged back to 3970 is producing oil and water 50-50.The combined production is about 100 barrels.Eggleston No.1 set six inch at 3300.Monteroy No.5 is pulling 6 inch at 3300 to go deeper,P.and B.No.4 is rigging up to start drilling.P,and B.No.1,the big producer that collapsed a few months ago.has been redrilled and recovered to 2000 ft. At 3225 the Potter Oil Co.'s No.2 is showing oil in quantity. The sand at the above depth is mixed with some shale but seems to carry oil in considerable quantity. Little progress can be made on the Western Pacific Oil Co.'s well until the tubing stuck in the cement can be milled out.A recent cement job at 3100 caught several tons of tubing, and being inside of 4 inch pipe the difficulty of getting the pipe out is not small. The Pan-American Petroleum Co.drilling at Pasadena No.2 is having its share of trouble. At 3315 a point of casing was lost.In bailing down the well the bailer was lost. The iron is now being drilled up and it will be some little time before the hole is clear again. The Union Oil Co.of Calif.is the heaviest developer today at Montebello. The Union has six wells drilling and is getting ready to start another.Tree wells,La Merced No.18,21 and 22 are in the oil sand at 2600,-2700 and 2600 respectively. No 9 at 3064 is in hard sand, and No.17 at 2250 is also in the hard sand. Mrs. Julia Selover and Mrs. Delia Miller were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Selover, Sunday. ARCADIA MEETING WITH FINE SUCCESS Montebello The Arcadia Oil Co. is meeting with all the success possible in the drilling of its second well. At 2300 feet the shale and boulders is allowing a hundred feet a week to be drilled. The Columbia Oil Producing Co. finds the redrilling of Adobe No. 4 slow and tedious work. Redrilling is now at 2675, and 350 feet more to go. Adobe No. 5 is making a water test at 2685, No. 1, Scott-Arnold, has started drilling and shows 450 feet of hole. Water is the problem for the La Merced Oil Co. at both of its wells, Manly No. 1 and Calkins No. 1. Calkins No. 1 is being reccomended at 2745, and Manly No. 7 at 2750, the former well made great quantities of salt water and the latter produced water and oil 90 and 10 per cent respectively. As yet the Keeler Oil Co. has not recovered from the fishing job at No. 1, two strings of tools being lost is share of trouble. At 3315 a point of casing was lost. In bailing down the well the bailer was lost. This iron is now being drilled up and it will be some little time before the hole is clear again. The Union Oil Co. of Calif. is the heaviest developer today at Montebello. The Union has six wells drilling and is getting ready to start another. Three wells, La Mercedes No. 18, 21 and 22 are in the oil sand at 2600, 2700 and 2600 respectively. No. 9 at 3064 is in hard sand, and No. 17 at 2250 is also in the hard sand. No. 24 is figging up. BIGELOW, 211 E. Center, FOR SALE—This is a splendid RESTRICTION AS IT AFFECTS FARMING In view of the proposed restrictions on immigration it is interesting to note that only 2.8% of the immigrants of the past year were farmers. The immigrants inevitably locked to the center of population where their compatriots are already congregated. The immigration committee is convinced that the arriving immigrants are not agriculturists or those who might go to farms, but mainly additional population for our principal cities and congested districts. A number of immigrants to come into this country between now and June 30, 1922, will be limited to approximately 355,000 people or 3% of the foreign born residents of the same nationality recorded by the census of 1910 as residing in the United States. The 3% immigration based on the 1910 census will permit the following number of immigrants to enter this country before June 30, 1922: Germany, 75,000; United Kingdom, 77,000; Austria, 50,000; Italy, 40,000; Russia, 51,000; Sweden, 19,000; Norway, 20,000; Denmark, 5000; and other countries less than 4000. SUMMER TOURING EARLY THIS YEAR SACRAMENTO, June 15. At Yosemite Park the Y. T. S. tours have been inaugurated to afford the public an opportunity to take in both sides of the park without having to make expensive side trips. A competent guide has been engaged who will explain the gigantic water power development under way at Hotch Hotch. The trip includes the Mariposa grove of big trees, Glacier Point, Artist and Inspiration Points, Wawona, and all attractions of the valley. Motorists may now reach the spectacular attractions of Lassen National park over the Red Bluff-Susanville-rd or the Chico-Westwood-rd. Some snow has been reported at the summit on these roads but with a few days of warm weather these highways will be in good condition. The point or extract to Lassen National park is Chester, a picturesque little village in a forested valley. Hotel and camp accommodations are available at Chester and the village is reached by automobile stages from Red Bluff or Chico; stations on the main line of the Southern Pacific Rail. Within the park proper, good accommodations are to be had at "Drakesbad." 16 miles northwest of Chester, Saddle and pack horses may be obtained here for a trip thru the park. Announcement has been made of the opening of Sayles Flat, July 1st. Sayles Flat is to be made this year one of the most complete camps of the Sierras.
