ENGLISH CLASS AT BEACH Miss Owens' English class of Anaheim high school, all three sections, are enjoying a picnic at Balboa Beach this afternoon. The class about 56 in number, left the high school at 1 o'clock with Miss Owens and a number of mothers as chaperones. They will enjoy bathing and other sports. The money for the picnic was raised by the English class by fining each of the students a penny for each unnecessary "and," "well" and "why" found in their compositions. PINOCHLE CLUB MEETS The Pinochle club met yesterday afternoon at the home of Miss Nina McClellan on Placentia-ave. The house was decorated with a profusion of cut flowers and after the game the hostess served delicious refreshments. Those present were, Mesdames J. E. Baker, W. B. Holland, B. Hartfield, Edgar Hartung, J. T. Lyons, B. H. Sidnam and J. P. Brastad, the guest of the club was Mrs. Kaufer. Mrs. Brastad won first prize and Mrs. Baker second. PICNIC AT TRABUCO CANYON A party of Anaheim people spent a most enjoyable time Sunday when they motored to Trabuco Canyon for a picnic. Those in the party were Mr. and Mrs. Smith and daughter, Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. George Reeks and daughter, Alice, Mrs. Path and daughter, Emma, Mr. Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Llewellyn and son and daughter, Shirley and Billy. A most enjoyable time was spent. ENTERTAIN AT DINNER Mrs. Wm. Addison Brown is entertaining at a six o'clock dinner tonight the contest captains and the five unit leaders of the Fidelis Bible class, together with the class president, Mrs. Sylvia Johnson. The guests are as follows: Mrs. Sylvia Johnson, Mrs. C.R.West, Mrs.Snyder,Bigelow,Felton,Cornwell Stanfield and Perry Mathfs. DEEP-SEA FISHING TRIP The Methodist Brotherhood will hold a deep-sea fishing trip on Thursday, June 16, leaving the White Temple at 8 a.m.Members will take lunch along. All who contemplate going may report to J.U.Henunit in the Golden State bank building or Edward Bigelow, 211 E.Center-stf. STANDARD BEARERS PROGRAM The Standard Bearers of the M.E. White Temple gave a very interesting program to an appreciative audience last night, young men and women of high school age jining in several interpretive missionary numbers.As a result of the thank offering,$37 was raised for missions. Both the old and the new boards were present and the business of the year was woundup. After the business had been discussed the hostesses served light refreshments. Those present were Mesdames R. B. Herman, Chamberlain, J. O. Reed, Henderson, Harbeson, Manfer, Adkins, Sidnam, Dutton, Thomas, Coons and J. A. Clayes. SAUNDERS-KEMP NUPTIALS At the residence of the officiating clergyman, Rev. Loren Howe, 212 S. Ohio-st. at noon today, Mr. Geo. M. Kemp and Miss Katherine Melvina Saunders of Anaheim were united in marriage. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Anderson, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, and the members of the minister's family. CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY Little Master Gerald Olmstead, assisted by his mother, Mrs. E. L. Olmstead, was the host at a delightful little matinee and birthday party Saturday afternoon in honor of his fifth birthday. The house was prettily decorated in a color scheme of pink and after the matinee refreshments were served. The little guests were Wm.
