HATHEA'S ENJOY EVENING
Senior Philathea of the Temple S. S., their husbands, the men's class taught by Mr. Taggart enjoyed a taffy pull in hospitalable manch home of Miss Winters on Magnolia ave last night. Miss Winters was assisted by her parents, and Mrs. B. B. Winteris, and her Fred.
The affair was in the nature of a well for Miss Mackay West, her at Central school, who will be at Bakerfield next year, and Miss Emily Kell who will soon turn to her home in Indiana. The athena teacher, Mrs. F. T. Edmish had composed some very interesting songs dedicated to the departure of the two young ladies, which sung to familiar tunes; played Miss Marjorie Ralney.
Feature of the evening: was a under the direction of Miss Lie Lou Robertson, to the new poleum Midway well drilling at a Park-blvd and County-blvd, among those present were the les Rains, Robertson," Lowell, Johnston, Johnson, Peter-West; Kell, Wright; Mr. and Paul Taggart, son, Donald, andighter, Mona; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hester and son, Jack; Mr. and Wheeler, Mrs. Jack Hebson and Arthur; Mr. and Mrs. Harzler, Pico, Mrs. Bowen, Messrs.th, Stockwell, Black, Waugh and joy.
Next Tuesday evening the same ses will enjoy a weinie bake at age-co park.
TEACHERS ENTERTAINED
Mr. H. W. Faris entertained delightfully yesterday afternoon at her at 214 E. Adelae-st., a group of hers of the Central school with him she has been associated the two years. The house was decor-in pink and each guest was in a large pink rose with some or favor attached. The afternoon spent in music games and social after which the hostess served.
CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Eastern Star Chispa Chapter met yesterday evening in the Masonic temple to celebrate the 25th anniversary. A delightful program was given. Mr. Corly, accompanied by Mrs., G. H. Gooddale, sang. Mrs. Coons who is the only charter member, gave the history of the chapter. Mrs. Lawrence Scars gave a reading in her usual pleasing manner and Mrs. Louisa Henderson gave several vocal solos. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing cards after which the past matrons and past patrons who had charge of the program and entertainment served refreshments of ice cream and cake with 25 candles.
"Fatty" Arbuckle will be seen tonight at the Fairyland in "The Traveling Salesman." It is a typical Fatty Arbuckle picture, stuffed full of dramatic humor. It will be shown again tomorrow night also.
Emnett Dalton, the noted ex-bandit, just of America's most noted outlaws who helped make history in the West, will be seen at the Grand again tonight in person. He will explain his latest picture, "Beyond the Law."
J. E. Stewart went to Los Angeles yesterday on business.
C. R. Veaper of Los Angeles spent today with Mrs. A. C. Holmes.

MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER
Miss Ruby Daggert was given a delightful surprise miscellaneous show last evening by Mrs. W. J. Elliott daughters, Mrs. Norbert Anderand Miss Viola Elliott at theott home on E. Center-st. These was decorated in a color scheme of yellow and pink and lookvery pleasing. The evening wasnt in games and social chat after which the hostesses served dainty delicious refreshments. Miss gett was presented with many useful gifts. The guests were Meshes M. Terry, Daggett, Floyd Curre-Edward Campbell, John Meyer, ward Anderson, Leo Shoridan, the Misses Margaret Lawrence, Is Elliott, Bethel Elliott and All-Terry.
ENTERTAINS S. S. CLASS
An enjoyable time was spent last ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Goodale, 820 S. Los Angeles when Mr. Goodale entertained weiner bake for the boys of Sunday school class of the Methst White Temple.
The evening was spent in playing mes and enjoying some good music. Later all did full justice to refreshments of weiners, buns

Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Sheridan, 402 N. Lemon-st., left today for a trip to the northern part of the state. They expect to go as far north as Sacramento and Santa Cruz. They are motoring and will be gone about two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. C. L Holland, after spending several weeks at Fresno visiting relatives and friends, have returned to their home at 412 So. Claudina-st., bringing with them Mrs. Holland's sister, Miss Dorothy Daniels, for an extended visit.
Mr. and Mrs. G Abbott, who reside five miles east of town are proud parents of an 8½ pound girl. The young lady has been named Elizabeth Marle, Mrs. Abbott returned from the Anaheil hospital Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Clubaugh have sold their property at 529 S. Los Angeles-st, to Mr. and Mrs. Pendley of Long Beach, the sales being made by the Jewell Reality Co., Mr. and Mrs. Clubaugh, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J, H. Clabaugh and Miss Lillian Clubaugh will go to their ranch in Shasta-co., making the trip by auto.
