Buena Park News BUENA PARK, June 2, (Spl.)—Buena Park Congregation church, Sunday, June 5th, Reynolds Ct., L. Knight pastor. Sunday school at 10 a.m. Morning service at 11 a.m. Subject "Two Eternal Prohibitions." Evening service in the School hall. The motion picture machine will be used giving a Prism entitled "Everywhere." It portrays the wondrous working of God in nature. The pastor will preach an appropriate message. Miss Mr. Beach of Hollywood spent Sunday with her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Russell Beach. Mr. L. T. Wiley was a business visitor to Coachella Valley the first of the week. Mrs. Russell Beach is spending a few days at San Diego. Miss Lois Couta spent Saturday in Los Angeles. Arthur and Edward Thurman spent the week end with their parent here returning on Sunday afternoon to Palm Springs. Mr. and Mrs. George Cole were guests of Los Angeles friends on Sunday. A mass meeting was held at the School hall on Tuesday evening to discuss additional school ground and a new school building. The property considered was that of Mr. George Thurman which adjoins the school. There are five acres in oranges in this property with a six room house. The price is $16,000. Mr. and Mrs. B. Thurman, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Nunn and children of Pilmore were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Thurman over Sunday and Monday. YOUTH LOSES EYE IN AIR-RIFLE ACCIDENT GARDEN GROVE, June 3—George Harper, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Harper, was seriously hurt Monday, when an air rifle he was handling went off and shot him in the ball of the left eye. He was taken to the community hospital at Santa Ana, but the eyesight could not be sayed. He is still at the hospital and getting along nicely. George thought the rifle was unloaded and was hitting it on the ground, with the muzzle near his face when it went off. The family have the sympathy of the community friends in the boy's office at their home east of town last Thursday evening. Music was the main feature of the evening and a general good time was enjoyed by all after which refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Those present were: Prof. and Mrs. S. B. Fitz, Missen Grace Hobson, Elite Archer, Mildred Martin, Matilda Hill, Khel Miller, Helen Hursh and Esther Burgess. The Epworth league of the M. E. church served a banquet in honor of Ted Evans, the evangelist who is holding revival meetings here, last Monday evening after the close of the meeting. The local baseball team won last Sunday's game from Capistrano by a score of 12 to 7. The game was played on the latter's field. Mr. and Mrs. T. Hammontree and family and Francis Blissitt, Robert Lehnhardt and Miss Eveloth Adrich motored to Laguna Beach Sunday. P. C. Thompson made a business trip to Rialto Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Stillegem and Anselin friends returned Monday night from a three days' trip to Big Bear. Dr. Round and son Paul, and William Tidball and Marlon Battler of Santa Ana, spent Sunday and Monday camping near Modjeska's home. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Natland and family and Mr. and Mrs. Hammontree and family motored to Long each Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bidecit and family of Pasadena spent the week end at the Frank Mill's home. Mr. Martip and son Edgar of Los Angeles spent Sunday evening at the George Reyburn home. Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Lee and family spent Sunday and Monday with relatives at Santa Susana. Mr. and Mrs. H. Bukenhus and family and Mrs. Mary Mass of Covina, spent Sunday at the H. Bakenhus home. Mr. and Mrs. Preston of Downey visited Mr. and Mrs. Underwood, Monday. Harry Vaughan of Los Angeles spent Monday at the W. M. Kelsey home. J.W.Parks returned to his home in Oklahoma Sunday after a three-month visit with his father, Joe Parks. Mr. and Mrs.G.Reyburn will make a trip to Mt.Lowe Friday and will remain until Saturday with the So.Cal.Associated Commercial secretaries. The Garden Grove Baptist Sunday school won the banner at the Orange-co. park last Saturday for the best Sunday school attendance during the month of May, and the best attendance at the picnic, which was 186 members. The Sunday school attendance was 82½ per cent. May with Huntington Beach second with 65 per cent. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Magill entertained a number of the school teachers. SCHOOL BOND ELECTION NOTICE Notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of Yorba School district of the County of Orange, state of California, that in accordance with the provisions of the Political Code of the State of California, an election will be held on the 4th day of June, 1921, at the Public School House in said District, between the hours of eight o'clock a.m. and six o'clock p.m., during which period and between which hours the polls shall remain open, at which election to question of issuing and selling bonds of said district to the amount of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars, for the purpose of raising money for building or purchasing one or more school buildings; for insuring school buildings; for supplying school buildings with furniture or necessary apparatus; and for improving school grounds will be voted upon. The said bonds thereunder to be issued and sold shall be of the denomination of One Thousand Dollars each, and shall bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum, interest payable semi-annually at the County Treasury, and said bonds shall be numbered from 1 to 25 consecutively, payable as follows: Bond No. 1, One Thousand Dollars, to run one year. Bond No. 2, One Thousand Dollars, to run two years. Bond No. 3, One Thousand Dollars, to run three years. Bond No. 4, One Thousand Dollars, to run four years. LAYS THREAT TO HER FATHER Charged with exhibiting a rifle in a thriving manner, R.J.Brivero of this city was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Cox today on a complaint sworn to by his daughter, Myrtle Rivero. Rivero pleaded not guilty. His trial was set for Saturday morning at 9 o'clock and he was released on $25 ball. Rivero is the father of 12 children.
