DRILLING WAR AT HUNTINGTON BEACH
New wells in Huntington Beach oil field are more or less of daily occurrence now, with excitement over each new find in that section running as high as ever. Operations are moving rapidly and it is said that several contests of speed have developed between companies drilling new holes close to each other.
The Standard Oil company was expected this afternoon to bring in C-1 well on its C lease of property of the Huntington Beach Oil company. Everything was set for the "blow-off," with every indication pointing to possibility of the company realizing its expectation.
C-1 is located about 400 feet west of Bolsa Chica No. 1, the big well of the field and the property of the Standard.
The contest in speed among crews on off-setting wells—wells that are on adjacent lots—to be first into the "pay streak" is resulting in some records in drilling being established, it is said.
Rumors have been current here this week that a project is on at Huntington Beach for the institution of an oil pipe line from the field to Orange county harbor at Newport Beach, with the development of a line of oil tankers for transporting the oil. Efforts at Huntington Beach today failed to find anyone who knew of a definite move in the direction of organizing for installation of the pipe line.
