INTEREST GROWS IN DRAINAGE PROJECT
CYPRESS, May 12. (Bpl.)—The interest in the Cypress drainage project is taking on gigantic proportions. Theearing before the county supervisors Tuesday was continued until Tuesday of next week. Those opposing the project still have some hopes of defeating it before going into the courts. A petition presented by the objectors, bearing some 90 odd names, representing some $220 acres, was not allowed through a technicality. The objection claim still more names can be added to the list. There are a number of the successful ranchers associating themselves to fight the matter to the last. They are proceeding to employ legal talent and are preparing to carry on the fight without waiting for the supervisor's decision so it would appear that they expect the board to order the work to proceed.
It is a matter of much regret that those people cannot come to an understanding without court action. Any court action is very apt to tie the project up indefinitely, which is a great loss if the project will accomplish what is claimed for it; then, too, court action is expensive. Both sides are honest in their conclusions; those in favor believe that it would be the making of the dispute, those objecting take the opposite view. No matter which is right, it is a matter of much regret that the matter cannot be compromised.

Truck Policy of Clubs
Condemning the policy of the Automobile Club of Southern California and the California Automobile association in seeking to secure the passage of a bill, during the last session of the legislature, that was designed to force upon the counties and the state an inflexible gross truck load limit of 14 tons, the board of supervisors of Kings-co, has written a legally letter to the supervisors of Orange-co, requesting that they also condemn the policy of the two auto clubs and work for legislation that will reduce the maximum truck load, as means of saving the roads.
The Kings-co. supervisors assert that the two automobile clubs repudiated the advice of their own engineers and the engineers of the state highway commission in attempting to take the maximum truck load. The highways of the state are not built to carry trucks laden with loads in excess of ten tons, according to the Kings-co. supervisors.
Kings-co. has spent more than a million dollars on its county highway system and, according to the supervisors, is spending $100,000 annually in repairs and improvements.
