TO GET PLANS FOR ADDITION TO SCHOOL
GARDEN GROVE, May 3—At the next meeting of the school trustees tentative plans for an addition of four class rooms to the grammar school will be received and the date for a high school bond election fixed. Those matters were discussed at the last meeting but no definite action was taken at that time.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bodkin of Los Angeles visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Fulsom Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Mott and Mr. and Mrs. Prady of Long Beach were Monday visitors at the home of Mrs. Mary Winters.
Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Ernaux and two sons, Norat and Richard of El Moeda, were guests at the E. M. Dozier home Wednesday evening.
Mrs. J. G. Allen and children and Mrs. C. Oertly were guests of friends in Long Beach Thursday.
The Missen Amelia and Corn Cole of Pasadena were guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. I. Rice Tuesday.
Mrs. Edward Schroeder and son Keith, of Lincoln, Neb., who have been wintering in Honolulu passed the week-end at the J. A. Knapp home, Mrs. Schroeder and Mrs. Knapp are cousins.
Mrs. L. M. Ford, Mrs. Earl Lamb and Mrs. Georgie Bradley were guests at the home of Mrs. E. O. Fulsom on Monday afternoon.
Mrs. F. M. Walts, who has been ill for several weeks, is recovering and able to be out again.
Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Mester of Los Angeles visited at the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Jackson Wednesday.
Miss Marie Bodenhamer, accompanied by Miss Pearl Russell of Santa Ana visited friends at Bellflower on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sunay guests at the T. E. Niles home were Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Phelius and children of San Dimas and Mrs. Grant of Los Angeles.
N. V. Newman of Portland, Oregon, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Waltz Sunday, Mr. Newman is so favorably impressed with California that he has decided to sell his ranch in Oregon and make his homeents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Miller, Mr. Miller holds a responsible position with the Standard Oil Co., Santa Barbara.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Preston of Tustin were visiting among old friends here Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Owens and sons Percy and Preston spent Saturday evening and Sunday at their ranch at San Marcos in San Diego-co.
The Woman's club will meet on Thursday at the home of Mrs. L. J. Robeson with Mrs. E. P. Mann and Mrs. Robeson as hostesses.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Huttenlocker and children were shopping in Anaheim Saturday evening. They have moved to their new home on the Fogg subdivision, and have had the plumbing and electric fixtures installed.

Steps preliminary to the starting of an active campaign to secure a larger and better community hospital were discussed at an adjourned meeting of the trustees of the Santa Ana Community hospital yesterday.
Prospective sites were discussed, following a report by Fred Blauer, chairman of the site committee, of investigation of properties and the submission of others as prospective sites for the contemplated hospital.
In the opinion of the trustees, the plant should be located on one of the prominent thorofares of the city, with large and attractive grounds that would at once attract attention of parties touring thru the city.
Plans for raising the finances necessary to put the project over were discussed and were passed, pending donations, Mr. and Mrs.J.R.Miller, Mr.Miller holds a responsible position with the Standard Oil Co., Santa Barbara.

ORANGETHORPE CITY, May 3.

Plans for raising the finances necessary to put the project over were discussed and were passed, pending action of an organized body to which the plans will be submitted for endorsement.
SELECT “HEART O’ GOLD”
With “Heart o’ Gold” selected as the name for its confection, Taylor’s candy factory at Santa Ana today was preparing to throw the full force of its big cannery sales organization in support of an extensive campaign in promotion of the sale of the delicious confection.
Taylor indirectly serves and corresponds with 7500 families in 25 different states in developing trade for its preserves and canned goods and has established a reputation that has brings $220,000 annually into Santa Ana for products of the plant. Of that amount $55,000 is expended in Santa Ana for labor and $80,000 is spent in other avenues of expense.
OREGON PEOPLE PICNIC
All who ever lived in Oregon are invited to a great picnic reunion, all day Saturday, May 14th, in Sycamore Grove Park, Los Angeles. There will be a brief program opening about 2 p.m., but the main purpose will be to have a good time.

G. & L. LEASE, May 3—(Special)—Albert Hunter, formerly of our boarding house is now a married man. He was married at eight o'clock Saturday night in the Third United Brethren church in Los Angeles, to Miss Bertha Jane Crawford, daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. Newton Crawford of Santa Ana. Mr. Hunter is an oil worker and has worked in the oil fields for the Union Oil Co. for some time. His many friends and fellow workers wish him all kinds of good luck and best wishes. They expect to make their home in Santa Ana until the time comes when he will build a home in the new addition in Brea.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Recoe of Fuller, ton were out and spent Thursday evening with the McElhanys.
Mr. and Mrs. George Burton, son Ross and two children all spent Sunday off the lease.
Mr. and Mrs. Harley Coffey were theatre goers Friday night in Anaheim.

WIFE TELLS POLICE, HUSBAND ARRESTED
Thaddeus R. Carpenter, arrested last Friday as a deserter from the navy, was turned over to the naval authorities at San Pedro yesterday.
Carpenter was apprehended by information furnished by his wife, on the San Joaquin ranch.
It was first believed that Carpenter had stolen an auto belonging to George Goetz, but this proved to be untrue. A warrant had been issued for his arrest, however.
Carpenter enlisted in the navy at San Diego, May 21, 1820 and his enlistment period does not expire until May 20, 1922. When he enlisted he gave his address as Gilbert, Ariz.
GARAGE MAN'S FOOT HURT
James Somers, a garage employee of Olive, was being treated today for a severe injury caused when a heavy motor fell up on his foot. Several bones of his foot were broken.

WOMAN LOSES SIGHT OF EYE FROM CRASH
Mrs. Agnes Gallienne of Huntington Beach has lost the sight of her right eye as the result of an auto accident.
She is now confined at the Santa Ana Community hospital where she is being treated by a local eye specialist.
According to the doctor the eyeball was pierced by a sharp piece of metal or glass.
It is understood that Mrs. Gallienne was thrown against the windshield of the car in which she was riding when it collided with another machine.

Orange-co members of the California Avocado Assn. were today receiving programs of their sixth annual meeting to be held at the Hotel Maryland, Pasadena, May 6 and 7. Editors of five agricultural and horticultural publications and four experts of the state university are included among the speakers.
