GIVE HOUSEWARMING FOR GROVE COUPLE GARDEN GROVE, April 22. A delightful surprise and house warming was given Mr. and Mrs. P. M. German at their home southwest of town last Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. German were presented with some lovely cut glass. Delicious refreshments bret by the guests were served. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. Knapp and little daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Mary Wintera, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon King, Mrs. Clarn Almstead, Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Germann and Mr. and Mrs. William Adland. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Oertly enter, trained the following relatives at a birthday dinner Sunday in honor of their daughter, Mrs. Garfield Allen. Those present besides the hostess were Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Allen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Soule Oertly, and children and George Oertly. Guy E. Manperger says he is a bride in Garden Grove first, last and all the time. From whatever angle you view Garden Grove as a place of industry or residence—it is just about as desirable a spot as lays out of doors anywhere. And that he means just exactly what he says is evidenced in the fact that he is soon to build one of the most pretentious two-story business buildings in town. Mr. Manperger sold his business last week and Wednesday purchased thrush King & Heafsynder, the let just south of the News office, and it is his intention to erect the new building on this site. The building will be of brick and thorny modern in every respect. The cond story is to be used as a public hall, something Garden Grove has needed for a long time. The Garden Grove baseball team defeated the Huntington Beach team, on the latter's field last Sunday afternoon, with a score of 11 to 10. Garden Grove will play the El Modent boys next Sunday at Huntington Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schneider and daughter Winifred and Mrs. George Head and daughter Miss Mabel moored to Whittier Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Bruce spent several days in San Antonio last week with her brother and family. She is carrying a trained hand for the last few days from a fall. The Brenn Oil Workers union No. 27 net in Sewell hall last Thursday evening. Mr. Cullen gave them a most interesting talk. The meeting was well represented. The III Heul Minstrels given at the school auditorium last Wednesday and Thursday, evenings was a grand success. The benefit goes toward the building of a parsonage for the Congregational church of Brea. There were 25 of the business men of Brea who acted as colored folks. Mr. Wilson conducted the music during the intermission, orchestra, piano, banjo, violin and cornet. Mr. and Mrs. Perrine who were located on Pomona-bivd have moved into their new home on S. Orange-st. Mr. Dafethy Rhodesen, former Dorothy Keith, has been visiting her mother for the past week, her husband may make Brea a short visit soon, before going to China. Mr. and Mrs. Catron moved from Mrs. Keith's house on Orange-est into Mr. Frank Guard's house on Pomona-bivd. Mr. Walter Yates, wife and son Clifford and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis of Fulerton motord to Trebuque last Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. West and two sons were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Crispen's part of last week from Antelope valley, Mr. West is superintendent of the Watchson Co. Mrs. O. A. Crispen and daughter Mrs. W. I. Harti will attend the Consiga club at Mrs. T. J. Crumpton's of Montebellio next Friday. Mr. Tom Conners on S. Pomona-blvd is very ill Dr. Parrett is his medical adviser. The Union Label League will have an old time dance next Monday night at Sewell hall. So let's have a house full for they will have a great time and you will be able to get something to eat.
