Society: Clubs: Lodges: Churches CLARK STROKA NURTIALS A quiet wedding was solemnized Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in the parish house of St. Thomas Catholic church in Pico Heights, Los Angeles, when Joseph Stroka, of this city, and Miss Sue Clark, of Los Angeles, were united, the service being read by Rev. Father Gailliger, priest of the parish, who was formerly of St. Mary's church, Fullerton. The bride was becoming gowned in a dark green traveling suit, with small hat of black and green. She carried a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Following congratulations the wedding party were guests at a sumptuous noon dinner at the Broadway cafe. Later the bride and groom left for a honeymon trip, and upon their return early in the coming week, will for the present reside in Anaheim. Those in attendance were Mrs. Mary Stroka, mother of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McPherson, Mrs. Theo Roberts and son, Theo Jr., Miss Mary Stroka, Miss Elizabeth Arnold, and Miss Lowries, of Los Angeles. ENTERTAIN PHILATHEA CLASS Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Sutherland entertained last evening at their home on E. Center-st, for the Sunshine Philathea class of the Methodist White Temple. The evening was very pleasantly spent in playing games, while later the nontess served refreshments. Those present were Misses Viola Elliott, Florence Hammill, Esther and Valle Pember, Bernice Smith, Sylvia May Dumas, Leila Seales, Hazel Withee, Miss Duckett, Mesdames C. B. Goodson and Norbert Anderson. LIVE WIRE CLASS GIVES PARTY The Live Wire class of the Christian church will give a "Kid" party and pie social on Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rolla McClellan on the Ball-rd. Those wishing to go and having no means of transportation, are request to be at the church at 7:15, where auto will be provided. Everyone is requested to come dressed as a child. Games and an interesting program will be features of the evening. All members of the class and their friends are invited. HEDGES ENTERTAIN AT DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Hedges, in their pretty new home on N. Citron-st, entertained on a recent evening with a dinner party in honor of Mrs. Bert Landers, Miss Helen Landers and Miss Virginia Roberts, of Los Angeles, who have been house guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hedges, of W. Center-st. Others who formed the merry party were Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hedges, Mrs. Emma Fletcher, Mr. Thomas Bishop, of Pleasantdale, Nebr., and the host and hostess and two children. TO FORM LEGION AUXILIARY Wives, mothers and sisters of ex-soldiers and sailors of the late war are asked to attend a meeting in Fisher's hall Thursday evening at 8 o'clock for the purpose of organizing a Woman's Auxiliary to Anaheim Post, American Legion. The state president, Mrs. Carrol Marks, of Los Angeles, will preside, and it is hoped there will be a large number in attendance and give their support to the organization. ZION CHOIR ENJOYS SOCIAL Members of the choir of the Zion Lutheran church and their wives and husbands enjoyed a social evening at City Briefs J. M. White left this morning over the S. P. for Connerville, Ind. Mrs. Emma Anderson is the guest of her sister, Mrs. E. B. Camp of the county-rd. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Pember are visiting friends in Whittier for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wildasin left this morning over the S. P. for Columbus, Ohio. H. A. Neff is the recent purchaser of a Special Six Studebaker car from the Harry D. Riley agency. F. Wilson left this morning over the S. P. for New Orleans where he will take a liner to the Panama Canal. H. A. Dickel and Joe Carroll returned Monday from a two weeks' trip in the northern part of the state. Missra Florence and Mabel Myers, Pomona college are spending their spring vacation at their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Falkenstein and Miss Edith spent Sunday afternoon with relatives and friends in Long Beach. Little Maxine Harris of Burbank has been the guest this week of Miss Hazel Flier at the Filer home, 330 S. Melrose-st. Miss Grace Adams who is leaving soon to accept a position in Montana is the guest for a few days of Mrs. Italph Maas. Mr. and Mrs. E. Voss Herrington and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Slack of Texas, motored to Huntington Beach yesterday. Mr. Carringer arrived Monday evening from Tucson, Ariz., Mr. Carringer claims the distinction of being California's oldest citizen. Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Mitchell have returned from a several months' trip in Europe and are stopping at Hotel Valencia for the present. W. A. Miner, 204 So. Philadelphia-ist, is erecting a new five-room bungalow. Materials are being furnished by the Gibba Lumber Co. the time with Mr. Fender's brother, G.B.Fender. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murphy and daughter, Miss Lizale, of Long Beach will arrive tomorrow for a few days visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs.W.J.Ellott on E.Center-st. Mr. and Mrs.M.Schunacher and family of Los Angeles and Mrs.Sullivan of Redondo Beach were dinner guests Sunday in the J.S.Schunacker, Sr., home on W.Center-st. Mr. and Mrs.Walter Leonard of Michigan who are visiting relatives in Fullerton are guests for a few days in the A.F.Withee home, E.Center-st. Mr. and Mrs.Joe Stone and Mr.Ansr Forrest J.Young of Torrance were week-end guests in this city of Sunday in the home of Mrs.Young parents, Mr.Ansr Fred L.Sexton on,N.Lemon-st. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of Mr. Burdorf who is a member of the choir. About thirty were present to enjoy the evening which was spent in games and with music. Picnic baskets had been prepared by the guests and were served in picnic fashion. All report an excellent time. CLUB ENTERTAINED The "Merry Pew" club was entertained Tuesday at the home of Mrs. A. G. Prescott, with Mrs. Prescott and Miss Blanche Hexon as joint hostesses. The afternoon was spent in the usual diversion of fancy work and visiting, while later the hostesses served a lunchcon. Those present were Mesdames Roger Sherman, Emory Knipe, Norbert Anderson, Edgar Black, Kestenholtz, and Miss Valle Pember. ALTAR SOCIETY ENTERTAINS The Alter Society of St. Boniface Catholic church entertained last evening in the Knights of Columbus hall with a card party at which both whist and 500 were the games. There were thirty tables and the evening was most pleasantly spent. The half was decorated in a color scheme of green and yellow, with mustard boughs attractively arranged. At 500 the prizes were won by Mr. A. Nowotny, Mr. Ben Hein, Mrs. J. W. Truxaw and Miss Musch, while at whist, Mr. B. J. Dresser, Miss Brown and Mrs. Frank Baum were the fortunate ones.
