Society: Clubs : Lodges : Churches ONE O'CLOCK LUNCHON Mrs. John Finlay of New York City, who has been a guest for some time in the home of her daughter, Mrs. N. Finlay Parts, of Ball-rd., was hostess yesterday at a one o'clock luncheon at the California club. The affair was a courtesy for Mrs. Paris. Covers were laid for eight and an excellent luncheon menu was served. The decorations were in keeping with the spring time and with the Eastertide and were especially pleasing. A tasteful combination of daffodils, violets and iris was used for the table. The place cards were dainty bon-bon boxes placed in nose-gays of the flowers used another dalinity feature of the menu was the dessert which was served in Easter nests of spun green candies. The ice cream was served in the shape of a pretty Easter egg. Those who enjoyed the event were Mrs. Wm. Cupper of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. W. Whittier of Los Angeles, Mrs. James A. Bond of Hollywood, Mrs. Daniel Smelzer of Kansas City, Mo.; Miss Hinda Starr of Hollywood, Mrs. J. T. Sendelbaah of Philadelphia, the hostess and the honoree. ROUND TABLE CLUB MEETS The Placentia Round Table club held its regular meeting yesterday afternoon in the club house, with the president, Mrs. Thomas McFaddid program, which was in charge of Mrs. Percy Bradford, a business meeting was held. The speaker of the afternoon was Mrs. E. B. Weirick of Hollywood, a prominent Social Welfare worker, who gave a very interesting talk on the work that is being done for wayward girls in the home in Los Angeles. Mrs. Weirick also spoke briefly in behalf of the disabled soldiers. The musical numbers consisted of two charming vocal numbers by Mrs. Frank Trotter, accompanied by Mrs. P. W. James and a piano selection by Mr. Arthur Mann of Placentia. The hostesses, Meadames A. J. Robinson, Dowling and Gifford, served punch and cake at the close of the meeting. The decorations were carried out in a color scheme of purple and gold, iris and small yellow flowers being used. MASONS ENJOY BIG TIME A delightful event was enjoyed by a number of Anaheim Masons and their wives at the Masonic Temple in Fullerton Wednesday evening. The affair was a six o'clock dinner held under the auspices of the Masonic club of Orange-co, followed by a lecture. O. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. E. Metcalf, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Clayes, Mr. and Mrs. Fiscus and a number of others. DELICIOUS SUPPER Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Amack were agreeably surprised Tuesday evening when a number of relatives and friends gathered at their home on W.Broadway at 6:30 laden with baskets filled with a delicious supper, which they quickly spread and soon all were enjoying the bountiful feast. Amack, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jewell and two children, Mrs. Perry of Santa Monica, Mrs. Booth and son, M. Carver and Warren Jewell. P. E. O. MEETS WITH MES MOORE Anaheim chapter P. E. O. met yesterday at the home of Mrs. J. Lloyd Moore, Long Beach. One o'clock luncheon was served, the hostess making decorations in keeping with Eastertide. In the living room iris was used for decorations. At the business meeting, held following the luncheon, the new officers presided. The vice president, Mrs. C. C. Smith, pressed in the absence of the president, Mrs. Ward. The past president, Mrs. F. T. Edmison, was presented with a very pretty hand painted plate. Aside from the members, there were two guests, Mrs. Moore of Gardena and Mrs. William Brown of Anaheim. HOSTESS TO RIVERVIEW CLUB W. W. C. Herrefn was hostess Wednesday afternoon at her home on Palm Drive, Golden State Tract, to the members of the Riverview club. Twelve ladies responded to the invitations for the affair and a most enjoyable time was spent. Musie, visiting and fancy work engaged the attention of the ladies and this was followed by the serving of a dainty luncheon. The rooms of the Heffern home had been prettily decorated with spring flowers and symbols of the Easter season. Those who enjoyed the courtesy were the Meadames W. Speer, L. Schaffer, Chas. Schulz, Alfred Schultz, John Newman, O. Hennning, F. Martha Henning, James Mooitch, A. F. Plegel, A. Kratzer, Miss Marie Heffern and the hostess. DELIGHTFUL AFFAIR A very delightful affair of yester- CENTER HAS WELL ATTENDED MEETING BUENA PARK, March 24—Special—The Buena Park Farm Center held a very interesting and well attended meeting in the school hall on Monday evening, March 21. Following the regular business meeting Mr. Sleeper, the county successor, gave a very interesting and instructive talk on "Taxes." His address was illustrated with numerous charts showing comparative tax rates for the past ten years. His address was well received and enjoyed by the members of the center and a standing vote of thanks was given Mr. Sleeper for his kindness. The local part of the program consisted of a talk on "Railroads," by Mr. John Robertson, the monthly report of the county director, Dr. J. R. Schonefeld, and a couple of beautiful piano solos by Mrs. George McNell. The closing number on the program was a debate on the subject, "Resolved That the Family Ford" is of more use to the farmer than the cow." Mr. Smothers upheld the "Family Ford" and the Rev. Chas. Knight defended the cow. The debate was spicy and humorous and afforded the audience much merriment. Delicious refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. The committee in charge of the evening was composed of Messrs. Calder, Robertson and McNell and their wives. Those who failed to attend missed a rare treat. Other good things are assured for the next meeting. Mrs. M. S., Nuttall and sister were Los Angeles visitors Tuesday. Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Schonefeld and Mr. and Mrs. R. Schonefeld motored to San Diego Saturday and attended the annual meeting of the San Diego farm bureau at Bathon park. Dr. Schonefeld addressed the meeting in the afternoon. Mrs. J. H. Whitzell and children Blanche and Harlan, of Victorville, are visiting with Mrs. Whitzell's brothers Murphb and Arch Osborne. Mrs. Dan Williams is quite ill with pneumonia at the home of her mother, Mrs Henry Luctus at Cypress. Mrs. A. J. Goldie, of Fullerton, was calling in town Monday. Park people at the Rialto theatre on Tuesday evening to see "A Connecticut Yankee." Mr. and Mrs. I.J.Hoberson and children were guests at a birthday dinner in honor of Miss Margaret Nelson on Tuesday yevening. It is a story directed at the hypocrites in the church, and is a story that church members might be benefited by. Tomorrow night there will be a double program, four acts of vaudeville and George Walsh in "The Plunger." "The Hundredth Chance" will be the feature at the Grand tonight. Pickering, and daughter, Caroline, and Mr. Arthur Bemis, who have been so ill from toad stool poisoning, are all convalescening nicely. Little Jesse Millhous, who was also ill, has been taken to Whittier to the home of his grandparents, where he will stay until he is strong again. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brown leave the first of next week by motor, for Nebraska, where they plan to stay unthe first of next December. Mr. Brown's father, who visited here last year, is in very poor health and he wishes his son to look after his business during the summer months. Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor and daughter, Olive, will occupy the Brown house. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hargraves and son, Vernon, of Covina, are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. A. Hargraves. Munger. president of the Superior Oil Co. announces. Reinforced concrete threestory buildings will be erected on a site south of Belmont and adjoining the S. P. tracks. The plant, scheduled to be in operation by the early fall, will have a daily output of 500 cord tires and 1750 tubes, employing about 400 men.
