Wednesday, March 9, 1921 12 Co.s Drill 40 Wells In Brea-Olinda Field Twelve oil companies are doing development work in the Brea and Olinda fields. Some 40 wells are underway. Of these about a dozen are ready to be brought in and will increase the production of the field considerably. In Brea canyon the G.P. has four wells drilling and is rigging up to start a fifth. The G.P.'s conglomerate well Tonner No. 13 is now standing cemented at 1220. Drilling started at No. 11 and is now at 450 feet. Tonner Noe. 5 and 6 are still redrilling. The Brea Canyon Oil Co. is still continuing the drilling of No. 32, and at 3865 this deep well isn't showing anything better than a black shale. No. 32 has been cemented at 1270, and No. 2-A is drilling at 1475 feet. The Pullerton Oil Co. has three wells drilling and is making splendid progress on all of them. No. is drilling in the shale at 2100. No. 14 is drilling at 1400, and No. 15 is now at 2100 in black shale. The wild cats of the field are the Gold Seal Petroleum and La Habra-Midway. At the Gold Seal well 3300 feet of hole has been drilled, the formation is brown sandy shale and the well is looking encouraging. The La Habra-Midway's well-landed a string of 15 1-2 at 340 and is now drilling ahead at 550 in clay and gravel. At Olinda the Olinda Land Co. is drilling two wells. No. 22 is making hole at 210, and No. 23, a new well, is at 300 feet, drilling going good. The National Exploration Co. set a string of 12 inch at No. 1 Olinda and Chino No. 1 is drilling at 1110 in hard sand. The West Coast Oil Co. is still drilling in the oil sand at 350, the well looking so good that drilling has been carried several feet deeper than originally intended. No. 49 is drilling in the oil sand at 2700 feet; No. 83, a new well, is rigging up, and No. 88 is temporarily held up with a fishing job at 1900 feet. The Union is going ahead strong in the Brea canyon district with new work underway on five wells. Stearns No. 5k, though still uncompleted, is flowing more than promises to be one in the field. No. redrilling and will oil sands at once, feet of hole, and New wells age Steel and $2, where rigs and preparations being rushed as fast. THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Plain Dealer Wants Bring Sunny Place Your Wants Before the Greatest Number of Wells Mascot Co. Gregg No. 2 To Drill Out Cement Whittler Field. The Mascot Oil Co.'s Gregg No. 2 is to stand another week before drilling out the cement and making the final test. Water at 2050 proved a serious offender. When this is shut off the Mascot management feel that they have an oil well, even though it may be small. If the Shell does nothing else with Baldwin 1-A it will make a dry hole out of it. Several attempts have been made to shut off water, the last at 3700 has proved a failure and another attempt to be made. Hart No. 1 drilling at the head of Turnbull canyon now shows 385 in the brown shale. The Pasadena-Puente, a newcomer in the local field, is about ready to start active drilling. It is understood that actual spudding in took place last Sunday. For fishing, the So Calif. Oil Co.'s Sanderson No. 1 is close to 1200 feet. It is understood that actual fishing is to discontinue and the lost tools side-tracked. The Standard Oil Co. announces the completion of No. 67 in the Murphy-Coyote. The new is doing about 175 barrels and will probably not increase this figure very much. No. 82 completed at 2800 feet, went on the pump a hundred barrel well. No. 83 is drilling at 2500 feet in sandy shale and looking good. The Whitley Oil Co. spudded in and started drilling on No. 6 and now the log-shows 700 feet drilled. No. 7 is being rigged up. The drilling out of the cement at No. 5 has been accomplished and is now being tested for water. The drilling out of the cement at No. 5 has been accomplished and is now being tested for water. The Wilshire Oil Co. was compelled to re-cement a third time its deep Santa Fe Springs well, and it is now standing. This well was drilled originally to 5100 feet, and was bridged back to 4900 feet. The Amalgamated Santa Fe Springs McNally No. 1 is now drilling close to 4100 in shale that is carrying some gas. Milling string is on the ground for Butterworth No. 1 and work will be resumed at 2900 feet. Fishing Job Still Is Bothering Arcadia Co. Montebello Field. The fishing job encountered by the Arcadia Oil Co. at 2765 has been complicated by the sticking of casing at 2300 feet. It may be necessary to shoot the well, and in that way release the cutters. The fishing work has delayed the drilling now almost a month. However, the chances of recovering the hole drilled are good and the only thing that will be lost will be the time. The Columbia Oil Producing Co. is rigging up to start drilling on Scott-Arnold No. 1. Adobe No. 5 is also a new well and is down 1000 feet. Fishing on No. 4 Adobe has been discontinued for a while. The recovery of more than 80 feet of hole has been successfully accomplished by the G. P. at Cruz No. 2, and in a short time this well will be drilling in the deep oil sand at 2150. The La Merced Oil Co. is getting ready to put its Manly No. 1 on production. It is the plan now to set a string of 8 inch at 2700 feet, bridge and catch all the water and bring the well in.
