DEALERS PLAN USED AUTO MARKET A used car market exchange will be established in Santa Ana. The dealers propose the opening of a market where all may place their second-hand cars on sale, under direction of a competent manager and a special sales force. The plan is to be given a 30 days trial and if it is successful a permanent organization will be effected for the maintenance of an exchange. The cars will be sold under an absolute guarantee as to condition and the manager of the exchange will pass upon the condition of the cars when they pass to new owners. For the purpose of trying out the plan each dealer will put two cars in the exchange. Long Beach dealers are establishing such a market and dealers in other cities are preparing to inaugurate the plan. It is expected that agents in Anaheim and Fullerton will either cooperate in one exchange or establish one in each city. Dismiss Charge Against Los Alimates Rancher A charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder brought against Mr. and Mrs. Cammille Ghysels of Los Alamitos by C. E. Gorthy of the same place was dismissed by Justice of the Peace Cox after all parties concerned had taken the witness stand. Ghysels, who was referred to by several witnesses as "The Belgian," convinced the court that he acted in self defense and that he had reason to believe that Gorthy was subject to emotional insanity, and was so affected at the time he approached him. The charge against Mrs. Ghysels was dropped at the outset of the trial when the court was convinced that while she was a witness to the fracas she took no active part in the struggle between the two men. Gorothy was the first witness. He said he approached the defendant Jan. 16 and questioned him about a pipe line across his property. Ghysels, according to Gorothy, got off his plow and ordered him off the place. He then beat him with a club and bit his right ear, according to Gorothy, who declared he was knocked unconscious. By Sargum Sprout George Smith, a Colorado farmer, has developed a plan that will not only keep the young men on farms, but will also send the city gent land-ward. Here is George's plan in part: "It is, let the city men have one wife and the farmers have two wives. You see, one could help the other, and a farmer could more surely raise more boys to work the farm and not need to hire help at high wages." Then a farmer could sell crops cheap and make money and living in the city would be cheaper, and many young men would leave the city to be on the farm and have two wives." George wrote that little plan to Gov. Shoup, Sad to say, Colorado has not adopted the plan yet. I believe George is a wee bit mistaken in the young taking to the plan so well. The young man usually thinks one girl is the whole world till he gets around 45 and then he begins to see attractions in a younger "chicken." There would be so many old roosters trying to farm that there would be no room for the young man. Another thing, George didn't ask the lady folks their opinion on the matter and you know most of them these days. I have always figured that it would be a mighty fine thing to have two women to sort help each other out, but I could never make my woman see that way. George's plan sounds good—but I don't know, do you? OREGON MAN BUYS G. G. Ghysels, according to Gorthy, got off his plow and ordered him off the place. He then beat him with a club and bit his right ear, according to Gorthy, who declared he was knocked unconscious. Mrs. Glenda Gorthy, wife of the complaining witness, said that she was attracted to the scene of the fight by loud swearing on the part of Ghysels. She says when she reached the two men her husband was on the ground with "the Belgian" on top of him. Blood, she said, was flowing from a wound on the top of her husband's head and from his left ear. Ghysels told a different story. He said Gorthy came to his place looking for trouble, as he had done on previous occasions, and that Gorthy started an argument over the pipe line insisting that Ghysels pay for the installation of the line which ran across his leased property. According to Ghysels, Gorthy had a brick in his right hand. — Elise E. Goddicksen, public stenographer and notary public, next to Post Office, Phono 477. — If it's from Witman's, it's good!
