VENICE TO BECOME CONEY OF PACIFIC "For the purpose of meeting the demand of thousands of tourists who visit Los Angeles annually, particularly during the winter months, the great new $1,000,000 Sunset amusement pier now building at Venice will be rushed to completion by June 1, according to announced plans of the builders." "Sunset pier will make Venice the Coney Island of the Pacific. And it will do more, its builders say—it will make Venice world famous because when the new pier is opened Venice will be an all-year-round amusement center. The new pier will be built in the form of a horse shoe and the distance between the two shore ends will be six blocks." "The business of Sunset pier should be enormous, it is pointed out, because of the continuous patronage of 12 months in the year, Los Angeles people will find as much in winter to take them to Venice as they do now in summer. They will have a place at the beach to take their friends when the latter visit during the winter." "Every day will be a gala day at Venice when Sunset pier is running! says H. E. Barker, of Denver, who is spending the winter in So., stopped at the Vesta battery station MOTOR BUSINESS FACES FOOD YEAR That the automobile business faces a year of prosperity is the declaration of Harry D. Riley, Studebaker agent. After checking over all available statistics, Mr. Riley found that the average life of a classic car is six years. Hence, each year there will be dumped the number of cars that was manufactured six years previously. According to these figures there will be sent to the junk heap this year 1,500,000 cars. Mr. Riley says that there will be 1,600,000 new prospects. The total production during the year will not exceed 2,750,000 cars. There will be a shortage of 350,000 or half a million cars. The demand, he says will be greater than the supply. Benner Sheet Metal Works Rear 219 S.
