CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE JUST TREATMENT.
The joint legislative committee which is conducting an investigation of the State Railroad Commission is reported to be endeavoring to establish a link between the activities of the commission and the average consumer, which would enable the latter to keep in touch with work affecting him, and which would give him his "day in court" without expense, formality or a feeling of unwelcome intrusion.
Whether or not the legislators interested in this work succeed in their undertaking their purpose is unclear.

CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE JUST TREATMENT.

Whether or not the legislators interested in this work succeed in their undertaking, their purpose is praiseworthy. There should be this linking of the common man with the commission that has control over utility charges. The consumer should have just consideration. He should have his rights and his interests conserved, no matter how humble he may be. He should be protected against extortion and rapacity, from whatsoever source there predacious outcroppings may come. In other words, no influence or interest should be stronger with any department or agency of the state government than the interests of the common people of California.

USING PRISONERS TO CLEAR CHANNEL
A gang of county prisoners has been put to work clearing the San Diego creek channel thru the County park.
Two deputy sheriffs are in charge of the prisoners. Today 12 prisoners were at work. They are returned each evening to the county jail.
The purpose of clearing the channel is to protect the oak grove from floods. During the big flood several years ago some of the water from the creek flowed beneath the oaks.
Plans are being completed for the construction of a new county-rd up the canyon from the county park. This road will be on the south side of the canyon. At the county park the course will be on high ground to a point near the Fourth crossing. Prisoners are to be used in doing some of the construction work on this road.
THREE NABBED IN AUTOMOBILE THEFT
Motorcycle Officer O. K. Carr and City Marshal Ed Thwing of Fullerton were credited today with the arrest at Oceanside, of three men who were alleged to have stolen a Chandler auto from San Diego.
Upon receipt of a message from the chief of police at San Diego Carr and Thwing started south on the highway with a view to heading off the thieves, who were reported as coming toward this city.
At Oceanside the officers found J. W. Sweeney, Charlie Fay and R. O. Lane. The trio were acting suspiciously about a truck. Upon being closely questioned they admitted that they had stolen the Chandler car at San Diego and abandoned it at La Jolla, according to the officers.
The car was found later.
