Garden Grove News GARDEN GROVE, Feb. 4. — A farewell party was given Mr. and Mrs. Gene Coffin Tuesday evening before their departure to make their home in Arcadia. The evening was pleasantly passed with conversation and music. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening. Hendricks last Saturday afternoon. The regular business session was carried on and an entertainment was planned to be given in the near future. After the business meeting games were played, and before the members departed refreshments were served by the hostess. Fourteen were present. It was decided to hold a meeting every two weeks. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Walter Harper, Feb. 12th at 2:30 o'clock. The Foreign Missionary Society of the M. E. church met at the home of Mrs. J. W. Steele Wednesday afternoon. The regular business meeting was held. Mrs. John Sandman was in charge of the program. The afternoon was mostly spent in sewing garments for the children in the hospitals of China. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jentges and family motored to Camp Baldy Sunday and spent the day. Rev. Francis and wife of Orange were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Crane, Friday. Mrs. Effie D. Wilkerson and two little grandchildren of Huntington Beach visited relatives in Garden Grove Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Watson of Los Angeles were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Morrill. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Owen are spending several weeks at Highlands. Miss Caroline Ball of Hollywood, is visiting her sister Mrs. Ed Pearson. Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Christenson and family of Santa Ana were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Natland and family. Mrs. Ball left Tuesday for a visit with her daughter in Hollywood, after visiting her daughter, Mrs. Edward Pearson. Paul Pound has commenced the second semester as a student in the Santa Ana high school. Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Malone of Hinkley who were formerly of this place, visited Mrs. Malone's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Butler, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Ward and family, and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Weethee, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Weethee at Orange, Sunday. Mrs. E. F. Spain went to Hollywood Tuesday to visit with her son George Spain and family, for several days. Mr. E. B. Owens of Amo, Indiana, who is visiting in California, was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bodenhamer last week. George Chaffee of Washington, is visiting at the home of Mrs. Susan Chaffee and other relatives here. Mr. Chaffee is a nephew. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dozier and children and Mr. and Mrs. Will Schnifger and two sons, motored to Camp Baldy Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. G. Mundelhall who recently motored here from Highpoint, North Carolina, to spend the winter in California, were guests at the J. A. Bodenhamer home last week. Mr. and Mrs. George Rolfe and Mr. and Mrs. Sowles motored to Long Beach and spent the day Saturday. Miss Martha McCord of Santa Ana came Tuesday for several days visit with her sister, Mrs. M. A. Fulwider. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Dungan, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Dungan, Miss Vera Palge, Mrs. A. M. Steidinger and Mrs. William Morrill. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Owen are spending several weeks at Highlands.
