UNION-BREA CANYON OUTPUT IS RECORD
In a few short months the Union has developed one of the largest productions developed in the So. Calif. field at Brea canyon. A half dozen wells completed by the Union on the Stearns across from the General Petroleum Tonner property are yielding 3000 barrels daily. One of these wells Stearns No. 59 is doing 1100 barrels, Stearns No. 62 is a fine well that puts better than 700 barrels into the tanks daily. Three of the wells are making more than 300 each, the smallest well being No. 60, making about 200 barrels. This production runs better than 27 gravity and is the finest refining oil produced in the south. The Union is building a rig for Stearns No. 56, 82, and rigging up on No. 65. No. 57, the well that burned down some weeks ago, is now flowing 330 barrels daily, a new rig is going up over the ruins. No. 58 is drilling at 2675, and No. 64 at 1150 feet.
The Brea Canyon Oil Co. has decided to keep right on drilling at No. 32 and get down to the deep sand if possible. At 3745, the present depth, the formation is black shale, with the drilling going good. No. 33 is redrilling at 1350 and No. 2-A is rigging up to start drilling at 900.
The Columbia Oil Producing Co. is making a good showing drilling on the Pico and Menchego properties. At Menchego No. 1 now deepening is drilling in a fine sand at 3050 feet, and No. 2 has been cemented at 3100 and is standing. On the Pico No. 2 is drilling in the shale at close to 3000 feet. No. 3 is standing cemented at 600, and No. 3 is drilling at 30.
The Fullerton Oil Co. is rigging up No. 14 to start drilling with the rotary. No. 14 was drilled to 1400 feet some time ago and has been standing. No.

16 is drilling at 2745 and is showing admi gas and oil in the shale.
On the Tonner property the General Petroleum is redrilling a couple of wells. Tonner No. 5 is redrilling at 2485 and No. 6 is redrilling at 1685. Both wells lost almost a 1000 feet of oil. No. 10 is going right ahead and now shows 3025 feet in the sandy shale.
The Gold Seal Petroleum has drilled its wild cat well in Little Brea canyon to a depth of 3210 feet and encountered several feet of oil bearing sand. In order to insure a perfect shut off on the water it was found necessary to bridge back to 2532 feet. This has been done and the hole below is in splendid shape. It is the opinion of the Gold Seal management that a hundred feet more of drilling will result in a nice producer.
The La Habra Midway Oil Co. spudded in At Krause No. 1 the second of the month. The wild cat well was started with a christening ceremony with a large number of the stockholders present. The christening was performed by Miss Rose Bishop, of La Habra, said to be the first buyer of stock in the new company. A bottle of oil from Chapman No. 1, the famous Richfield gusher, was broken over the draw works and the new well started drilling. The La Habra Midway is using electricity to run the drill and expects to make a record both for drilling progress and cost of operation.
Drilling on the National Exploration Co.'s well at Olinda made little progress this past week on account of being delayed by repairs that had to be made on the rig. The drilling is now at 1160 in the brown shale.
The West Const Oil Co.'s No. 77 is still drilling in the oil sand at 2900 feet. The sand was struck at 2700 and has continued with hardly a break for two hundred feet. No. 88 is still in the hard conglomerate at 1825, this well has been in this hard formation for more than 600 feet and shows no signs of a break.
The Union Oil Co. still continues the development of the Graham-Loftus lease at Brea, and has two wells drilling. No. 51 and 53.

CONDITIONS CHANGE WITH USED MOTORS
Conditions have been so vastly changed this year in the auto business that for a time the buying public was befuddled as to the real conditions; many went on a buyers' strike, just waiting for conditions to become settled, not knowing whether prices were going up or down。但now that they realize that the curve is upward and that there is a fundamental reason for a steady price as outlined in interviews with local automobile agency mca Saturday in the Plain Dealer another point that is worth considering is the used car market, from the seller's standpoint.
It is the general opinion that used cars have hit the bottom. However, that does not mean that when one gets ready to turn his old car in for resale, he is going to get larger figures.
In the first place the used car concern is placing the used car business on a firm foundation. The men behind this industry are stipulating the price on such and such models for certain years to bring a certain price, and selling at such a price.Heretofore just any price provailed.
FOR RENT—New seven room bungalow.Adults only. 423 S.Palm.

One will readily see that it is practically impossible to take used cars in at prices asked by some, do what is necessary to put them in condition for resale and handle them.
Dealers in the future are going to be more competent in used car appraisements, but will not lose sight of the owner's interests and allow them all that in their judgement the car is worth.
It is the general opinion based on conditions that the used car market within the next sixty days will be such that those who do not buy now will lose money.
