TIN WEDDING CELEBRATION
A delightful surprise party was given Sunday night at the beautiful home of Professor and Mrs. Raymond A. Evans, of Fullerton, the occasion being the tenth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Barr, of Anaheim.
The spacious drawing room was elaborately decorated in white, gold and green, with a wedding bower of flowers hung with white wedding bells under which the bride and groom of ten years ago stood, while they were showered with hearty congratulations and many beautiful gifts.
Not forgetful of the ancient custom, each swain present claimed the right to kiss the bride. Not to be outdone, the groom staged a gallant comeback, exacting the same toll from each of the fair ones present with an amazing degree of success as a collector.
An address appropriate for the occasion and sparkling with wit and humor, delivered by Dr. Guy Kay, of Placentia, and followed by a program of readings, original poems and vocal and instrumental selections most prominent of which was a poem composed especially for the occasion by Mrs. C. H. Barr, mother of the groom, entitled "Reminiscence of Ten Years Ago."
Dear Malale, will you share my life
And be my own devoted wife?
I haven't very much to offer
But what I have I gladly proffer
And with it all my heart's devotion
As deep and full as is the ocean.
Just give in turn your loving heart
And say we never more shall part
And Malale bashfully replied,
Yes, Harold, I will be your bride.
For, tho I didn't mean to do it
I loved you long before you knew it.
And since you've told your love for me
I'll not conceal my love for thee.
And so those ardent happy lovers
Plighted their vows like many others
Until one January day
With hearts aglow and spirits gay
They changed the current of their life
And started out as man and wife.
The winds blew cold but what cared they?
For heaven seemed near that winter's day.
And now ten years have come and gone
And still their lives flow smoothly on.
The trials may have crossed their track
Of blessings there has been no lack
Except perhaps the lack of joys
That come with baby girls and boys.
They've even made the best of that
By taking to their hearts the cat.
Some things we reckon otherwise
Are often blessings in disguise.
The Lord's been very good to you
Dear children mine, and still is true.
And leads you by His own good will
In pastures green by waters still.
And when you've passed those fleeting years
So full of joys and griefs and tears
And when you reach the other side
And Heaven's gates swing open wide
Oh, may there then to you be given
A crown of life, a home in Heaven
And then shall every round of years bring many anniversaries.

An appreciative audience last evening heard the sacred concert at the White Temple, given under the able direction of Mrs. C. A. McCullah, director of the choral society, and Miss Luna Wellman, director of the Epworth League orchestra.

The orchestra, only a month old, delighted with "The Good Shepherd" (Barrl).
Other very pleasing numbers were the anthem, "By Babylon's Wave," (Gounod); contralto solo, "The Publican," by Miss Carrie Lou Evans; "My Anchor Holds," (Towner), by men's glee club; "Meditation—Thais."
