EDEN TO SPEAK AT FARM CENTER MEET GARDEN GROVE, Jan. 31—At the annual meeting of the Garden Grove Farm Center this evening, Senator Walter Eden is expected to give an address upon topics of interest to every citizen of this community. An extra large attendance will doubtless be present to hear him. A musical program will be given, prior to taking up the regular business of the organization. The P.T. A. will hold an interesting session at the grammar school auditorium Wednesday evening, Feb. 2, at 7:30. The Devon musicians have been secured for this entertainment and they will delight the audience with piano and violin selections. Dr. J. Robinson of Anaheim is to give an interesting and instructive address. The occasion promises to be one of unusual interest and all who can do so are requested to be present. The Ladies' Aid society of the M.F. church met at the home of Mrs. George Reyburn, Wednesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Fred Andres, presided over the meeting. A cooked food sale was decided on, and is to be held Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Garden Grove meat market. Mrs. Woodhouse, Mrs. S. S. Jackson and Mrs. Harkness led devotions. The rest of the afternoon was spent sewing bandages and shirts for the Indian children. The party that left early last Monday morning for Imperia, Valley on a duck hunting trip arrived home Thursday evening. A good share of ducks were secured by most of the men. The following went on the trip: C.E. Pollins and son Lynn, Frank Bissett, Milo Allen, Claud Crosley, Waldo Tournat and William Rohrbacker and Joe Smykle of Santa Ana. Eldon Butler purchased the former McKinnon house on Acacia-st from Mr. Watson this week. Mr. and Mrs. Butler will move into their new home in a few days. Mr. and Mrs. R. Wing have leased Mrs. Webber's house on Ocean-aye to opening up a pool hall and barber shop. He has ordered his fixtures, an das soon as they arrive and can be installed will be ready for business. The Wing brothers, who recently arrived here from Bakerfield, intend to open up a paint and paper store in Santa Ana, but will make their home in Garden Grove. Rev. J.M. Richmond and wife are now domiciled in their new home in the northwest part of town which they moved into Tuesday. Those from Garden Grove who attended the Associated Chambers of Commerce banquet at the new St.Ann Inn in Santa Ana Wednesday evening were H.A.Lake, George Reyburn, J.M.Woodworth, J.G.Allen, C.S.Holt, C.A.Emerson, C.K.Lee, Dr.C.C.Violett and Vernon King. The Garden Grove Citrus Assn. opened their orange packing house here Thursday and expect to employ packers for the next two or three weeks. George Reyburn will represent the Garden Grove C.O.C.at the annual State Commercial Secretaries' convention to be held at Oakland Feb. 3, 4 and 5. Mr. and Mrs.John Ward and family and Mr. and Mrs.E.E.Weteee will attend the Kansas picnic at Long Beach Saturday. Wednesday guests of Mrs.C.E.Pollins were Mrs.G.Root,Mrs.W.Rohrbacker and daughter,Doris,and Mrs.Joe Smykel of Santa Ana. Mrs.K.S.Hendricks and sister Miss Elizabeth Miller, attended the funeral services of an old friend, Ellsworth Towner, which was held from the Smith & Tuthill chapel in Santa Ana Tuesday afternoon. Miss Elsie Clark spent Wednesday in Los Angeles. Edward Ryan and Earl Johnson of Olinda were Garden Grove visitors Thursday. Mr. and Mrs.Glen Huntington and children spent Thursday in Los Angeles. On account of an epidemic of German measles in this neighborhood and among the pupils the public school was closed for a few days. It is now thought that the epidemic is under control and the schools have opened again. A large number of cases were reported, but there were no fatalities. A pleasant surprise party was tended Mrs. F. B. Maxwell Thursday night by her neighbors at Olive. An enjoyable evening was spent in conversation, music and dancing, after which refreshments, consisting of daly sandwiches, olives, cake and coffee were served. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Cole, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Holman, Mr. and Mrs. R. Ryan, M. R. C. Fletcher; Meadames J. H. Heitshusen, D. F. Heitshusen, L. B. McCay; Misses Eulalia Payan, Anabel Heitshusen and the honoree, Mrs. and Mr. F. B. Maxwell, their sons, James, Steve and Stanton, and daughter, Katherine. Dick Heitshusen, Henry Meyers, Aug. Stolliman and John Hagen returned Wednesday from Imperial, where they had been for several days, duck hunting. The two children of August Stolliman are reported ill with the measles. Yorba Linda News YORBA LINDA, Jan. 31—(Spl)—Friends of Miss Maurine Doane and "Nick" Taylor will be interested to learn that a wedding license was issued to them the middle of last week. Friends here have not been informed whether the ceremony has been performed or not but are of the opinion it has as Mr. Taylor had prepared a home in Olinda for his bride. Miss Doane has lived in Los Angeles for three years but formerly resided here with her sister, Williams, while Mr. Williams was a conductor on the local car. Mrs. Anderson taught in the grammar school the last of the week substituting for Miss Owen who was called to Norwalk by the death of her grandfather. Mrs. A. L. Bosworth spent Sunday in Los Angeles. DISABLED VETS ORGANIZE FRESNO, Jan. 31.-Organization of the first post of the Disabled American Veterans of the World War has been made in Fresno. About 40 disabled men are charter members.
