A Future Note in Present-Day Creation
WE DREAD the monotony of the commonplace. We seek, always, the thrill of the new and the original. To satisfy this desire the Cole Aero-EIGHT is dedicated.
The aim of its builders has been to be first in design—to lead the way to future improvements.
In a never ending succession of achievement the Cole has changed staid tendencies and quickened the pulse of motordom to faster progress.
Coming as a distinct departure, the Aero-EIGHT has struck a chord of broad appeal.
Individuality has been its dominance. Originality has found expression in classic contour and in every detail of mechanical construction.
For ten years the Cole Company planning ahead—for five years it centrated its efforts exclusively on development of the eight-cylinder model.
In the Aero-EIGHT—striking quality, sound in principle—the effect and effort of these years find expression.
A climax in a career devoted to the new, it has come as the heralded vogue in motor car design.
SAYS NOW IS TIME TO BUY USED CAR
Mr. Bob Vincent, manager of the Peterson Corp., at Anaheim, is very optimistic as to the future of the used car business. He states in substance that with the coming of the New Year there are three factors that are of prime importance in the rebuilt car business.
First, the re-investment of interest, dividends and bonuses, now being paid, which is of prime importance to the rebuilt car business, as people very often apply this income on the purchase of an automobile.
Second, the sentimental consideration that with the New Year it is customary to think in terms of a longer future and everyone seems to hold a more optimistic view of the 12 months ahead.
Third, the great influx of tourists, which comes to California, after the Nmas holidays cause an increase in the automobile business as tourists most always purchase rebuilt cars when they arrive in California. In the spring general business conditions will be considerably better as conditions in the east are improving now and in a short while will be normal.
Rebuilt cars are at the present time as low in price as they will get as the market is already on the increase due to the above reasons. Rebuilt Fords that used to sell for $550 are now selling for $300. The shrewd buyer will not have to be told twice that now is the time to buy rebuilt automobiles from a reliable dealer.
EARNINGS INCREASE ON FORD'S RAILWAY
During September, the first month under Ford control, the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton railroad increased its gross earnings more than 20 per cent over any previous month. October, 1919, the next best month, showed $430,830, whereas September, 1920, brot forth $564,492.
Mr. Ford plans first to put the D. T. & I. in order to assure Detroit of a coal supply all the year round. But he has a much broader view of the future activities of the road than merely supplying fuel and materials to his own factories. He expects to use it for the development of the country which the road traverses.
In order to complete his plans by which solid coal trains may be run continuously, he made a personal inspection of all the grades and bridges over the 454 miles of main track. In his automobile, he traversed a considerable length of the line, visiting the roundhouses and shops, and conversing with the mechanics. He went out with the repair gangs and examined every unit of the road's mutive power. He made decision about rails, new shops and loading points even before the deal was concluded.
