RICH.-CON. SPURTS 600 BBLS. FOR TIME Richfield-Placentia District. The Richfield-Consolidated Oil Co. No. 2 showed a sudden spurt a few days ago and produced for several years at the rate of 600 barrels a day. No. 1 is being cleaned out and started the workmen by throwing a stream of oil over the crown block. As soon as a string of tubing can be fished out of this well it will be drilled deeper. Lumber is being put on the ground for No. 3, the rig building and work to commence at once. So far, the Richfield-Consolidated Oil Co. is the only small company to make a showing in the Placentia-Richfield district. The company seemingly is well managed and the development work has been ably directed. The Richfield-Norba Oil Co. got its No. 1 on the beam and started pumping early in the week. The well is not making much of a showing on the beam and begins to look as though it is not deep enough. A test will be made at 3150 feet, the present depth. Some 85 feet of oil sand was drilled thru, but it seems that this sand does not contain much more than good showings of oil. Many a well has showed up strong that fell flat when put on the pump. The Richfield-United has re-cemented its Richfield well, and no further operations will be carried on until it is time for the drilling out of the cement. The cementing was made at 2995. The Richfield Union Petroleum is going down rapidly now. Recovering from a fishing job, the drilling has been going good since and is now at 2600 feet in hard sand and shell. Drilling on the Ridge Oil Co.'s well made a good showing last week. Better than a 100 foot hole was made, bringing the depth down to 1825 feet. The formation is still hard sand and drills slow. At Richfield the Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Co. has started drilling new hole at Dominguez No. 1 and is going right ahead at 2565 feet. Wardman No. 1 at Placentia is drilling at 700 feet in the conglomerate. At Kramer 1-6, where a deep test was made at 3882, the Standard Oil Co. has decided to go on and drill still deeper, making a satisfying deep test well on the Kramer No. 1 property. At the Kramer No. 2 property, No. 1 is making hole at 3500 feet. No. 8 at 3950, is in shale. No. 9, at 2200, is in the blue shale. No. 10, at 3200, is also in shale. No. 11, at 3600, is in brown shale, and No. 12, at 1645, in hard sand. Collins No. 2 is standing with the cement setting at 4549, where a niches owing of oil was reported. Kellogg No. 1 is drilling ahead at 4345 in brown shale. Veljar No. 1, at 4270, is drilling in grey shale with no indications of oil. The Keck Drilling Co. is making a splendid showing drilling the Wonder Oil Co.'s well on the Kramer home place. The present depth of the hole is 2450, the formation is a hard sandy shale. Where the drilling hits the hardspots the Reed roller bit is put in so as not to hinder the splendid progress that has been made since the drilling started. That the Union Oil Co. intends to maintain its lead for the number of wells drilling in this field is evidenced by the new location and the new work company is starting. On the Towell property two wells, Nos. 3 and 4, have been located, and on the McFadden property work has started on Nos. 3. On the Chapman property No. 5 drilling at 4050 is looking good and is scheduled for the next producer. No. 5 at 3450 is also in the oil sand and looking very good. No. 7, near by, is drilling at 422 in grey sand and is not showing anything yet. Chapman No. 9 is standing cemented at 3150. No. 10 is drilling at 2875 and the rig is going up for No. 12. T. & G., No. 2 is drilling out the cement at 3025 and making a water test. At C, & B., No. 1 drilling is at close to 4000 feet in the oil sand, the well is looking good. Shepard No. 1, the Union's deep well, is still held up with pipe trouble at 4550, the 4-1-2 inch having parted. J.W.Newell No.1 turned out to be a small well and will probably be deepened. At 3175 feet only a few barrels centia Orchard is attaching necessary to drill drill pipe. Yorba Lake drilling in the conglomerate. At 3130 feet the General Petroleum's Cruz No. 3 continues to look very good. The formation is showing as a nice an oil sand as was ever struck in the Montebello field, and indications are strong for a big well. On making a recent test the La Merced Oil Co. finds it necessary to do some more cementing in order to get all the water. Cementing is now being done from bottom to the top of the perforated pipe, a distance of about 300 feet. Manly No. 1 is drilling in the hard sand at 2350.
