WORLD DISARMAMENT BIG URGENT ISSUE.
Steps toward disarmament of the world are in prospect There is probability that, early in the Harding administration, this momentous problem will be taken up in earnest by the U.S.government in conjunction with other governments. From the negotiations that are in prospect it is reasonable to hope for developments that should have profound influence upon the peace of the world. The U.S.,it is to be hoped, take a leading part in bona fide plans to bring about disarmament upon terms and conditions that would not place this nation or any other country at a disadvantage, or imperil its future. In other words, the scheme of disarmament should be such as to be manifestly grounded upon good faith, with no intention and no possibility for any nation or group of nations to take unfair and menacing advantage of any other nation or group of nations.Upon this bedrock principle of absolute honesty and good faith a universal disarmament agreement,to be effective, must be based.Actuated by motives of this character, the U.S.well may assume leadership in any well-digested,honorable,straightforward plan that may be evolved to rid the world of the terrible burdens incident to the maintenance of vast armaments.

GET TAX FIGURES READY NOW, ADVICE
The drive for filing of income tax returns for the year 1920 will be started here about Jan. 15, according to a statement today by Elmer B. Burns, deputy collector of internal revenue. Blanks are not available at his office in Santa Ana now and will not be until after Jan. 15, when he will have a good supply of all classes of forms.
"In the absence of income tax form blanks at this time, those who will have to pay income taxes or make returns should be preparing their figures," declared Burns. "This will facilitate the making out of the returns when blanks are available."
"I will have one or two assistants to assist in the work in the county. We will make out an itinerary and will give ample notice when deputies will be available in various cities of the county to those wanting assistance in making out their returns."
