The sand continues at 3120. Mann No. 1 shows 2875 feet, shale and boulders, and Potter No. 2 is 735 feet in the conglomerate. Page No. 1, a new well, is rigging up. The Bixby Ranch Syndicate well is out of the fishing job and pipe trouble and is ready to make new hole at 3185. No showings have been reported. The work of redrilling the Clark Oil Co.'s Crowther well is going on nicely. The United Oil Co. is doing the work and the hole is now in good shape to 3330. One of the deep wells of the Richfield district is the General Petroleum's Vejar at 4385. The formation continues in the brown shale, but the shale does not show any tendency to shade off into an oil sand. Thompson No. 4 is down close to 1900 feet and No. 5 is redrilling at 3225. On the Marshburn property No. 1 spudded in and started drilling. Davis No. 1 is now at 1625 in hard sand. Hugo No. 1 is to be cemented at 3115. McKraken, No. 1 shows 2925 feet in the shale and noulders. On the Osman property No. 1 started in drilling and shows 400 feet of hole. Walker No. 1 is putting the 8-1-4 in pipe and is getting ready to go ahead at 3125. On the Stern property No. 5 is drilling at 2000 feet. Drilling on the Heffern No. 2 has been suspended a few days to allow the putting in of a string of 15-1-2 inch pipe; 1150 feet of hole has been drilled. After fishing for five weeks and getting out about 90 joints of drill pipe the Placentia Oil Co., still has a lot of pipe in the hole, and the outlook for getting out soon is not very bright. After fishing for three weeks and getting out a bad fishing job at 2050 the Placentia Pacific had the misfortune to have a cavein at about 300 feet down that caught the drill pipe. ard No. 1, is now drill and is not showing anything that looks like gold. J.W. Newell No. 1 is about ready to put on the beam. The well looks good for a 100 barrels. Coyle and Bogue No. 1 has passed the 3925 mark and is looking rather good. Dorsey No. 1 produced a few days at 3408 feet and then turned into water rapidly. The well is being redrilled; the water will be shut off and attempt made to bring it in anew. Chapman No. 1 is flowing the least amount the well has made in two years of producing. The flow is now down to 745 barrels. Morse No. 2 is the Union's big well on the field with a daily flow of better than 1000 barrels. NEED GOOD BATTERY FOR SMALLER CARRY "Since light cars have been electrically equipped a good many owners have wondered at the relative shortness of life of their starting batteries," say West Broos, of the Auto-Electric Maintenance Co. "The reason for this is found in the rather rigid spring suspension of the average small auto and the fact that many owners drive their cars rapidly over rough roads, together with the short wheel base and the light weight of the car itself. "There is one battery, however, in the market whose construction practically fits it to withstand these conditions. That battery is the Vesta battery locked firmly apart by the Vesta destructive isolators. These isolators are practically vibration-proof and there is no way in which the plates can touch. Inasmuch as the isolators are not in the path of the current they in no way affect the capacity of the battery. Ford owners are finding for this reason that the Vesta batteries are exceptionally long lived in their cars." The recent announcement of the reduction on all sizes of Vesta batteries should prove of exceptional interest to motor car owners. West Broos, state that its special construction and a two-year guarantee makes it the best battery value on the market. Drilling on the Heffernan No. 2 has been suspended a few days to allow the putting in of a string of 15 1-2 inch pipe; 1150 feet of hole has been drilled. After fishing for five weeks and getting out about 90 joints of drill pipe the Placentia Oil Co. still has a lot of pipe in the hole, and the outlook for getting out soon is not very bright. After fishing for three weeks and getting out a bad fishing job at 2050 the Placentia Pacific had the misfortune to have a cavein at about 300 feet down that caught the drill pipe. As soon as the pipe is fished out a string of 15 inch pipe will be set to catch this loose formation. The Petroleum Development Co. is having considerable difficulty developing the Bradford property. Thus far the two completed are small producers, and the outlook for anything better than 100 barrel wells is not very promising. Bradford No. 1 is drilled to 3994 and is sidetracking pipe and cleaning out at 3850. No. 2 is standing suspended. No. 3 is standing cemented at 3800. No. 5 is drilling at 2800 in hard shale. Bradford Bros. No. 3 is held with a fishing job at 1625. Bradford Community drilled to 3800 is back redrilling at 3400. Richfield No. 1 is a rig. The Petroleum Midway's Richfield property under Thos. Crumpton's able supervision is getting to be one of the good properties of the field. Yarnell No. 1 is being worked over and is about to go on production again a good well. Yarnell No. 14 is a new well being rigged up. Yarnell 4-A is now standing with the cement setting at 2950, as is also No. 11 at 3245. No. 12 is drilling at 1900 in the blue shale. Carter No. 1 is now 2450 in the brown shale. Isaacs No. 1 is standing cemented at 2860. Steiner No. 1 at 3450 feet flows by heads and will probably have to be put on the pump for a regular production. Richfield-Consolidated's No. 2 is flowing by heads and is making 350 barrels daily. The gas seems to be a little weak, causing a little irregularity in the flow. No. 1, if well that has been doing an average of 80 barrels daily, is to be carried down a 100 feet deeper into the said oil. The Rich-field Yorba Oil Co. is running a string of 4 inch pipe in preparation to drill into the oil sand and put the well on the production; 3081 feet of hole was drilled, the 6 inch being set at 3050. It is the intention of the management to drill pretty well into the oil sand before bringing the well in. Hung up for several weeks with a difficult tishing job the Richfield-Union Petroleum Co. succeeded in getting out and is now drilling at 2450. The drilling of the Ridge Oil Co.'s well at Placentia is getting to be a matter of 100 feet a week regular. At 1700 feet the hard sand and boulders make hard digging, taken care of easily with the Reed Roller bit, now recognized as the last thing in a rock drill. The Wardman property on the Selby Root House Co.'s well at Placentia has been suspended a few days to allow the putting in of a string of 15 1-2 inch pipe the Placentia Oil Co. still has a lot of pipe in the hole, and the outlook for getting out soon is not very bright. At 1700 feet the hard sand and boulders make hard digging, taken care of easily with the Reed Roller bit, now recognized as the last thing in a rock drill. The Wardman property on the Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Co. has supdded in and started drilling. About 300 feet of hole has been made. Wardman No. 1 is a few hundred yards south of the United's Carpenter and should make a nice little well. The Standard Oil Co. is finding the deep productive oil sands in all parts of the Richfield-Placentia field. At Kraemer 1-5 the cement was drilled out at 3880, an O. K. on the water secured and the well now drilling ahead at 3885 is showing a nice and livly oil sand. Collins No. 2, the deepest well drilling in the field, struck a rich looking shale showing lots of oil at 4546. It is the intention now to set the 6 inch pipe and cement. At Kellog No. 1, drilling at 4200 feet, an oil sand carrying lots of oil and gas was struck that makes this well look very good. The Standard's Velar, drilling at 4250, shows hard sandy shale with occasional streaks of sand. On the Kraemer No. 2 property No. 3 is drilling in the shale at 3425. No. 9 is drilling at 3100 feet. No. 10 is at 2950 in the hard sand. No. 11 made a shut off at 3264 and is now drilling ahead in the shale at 3310. No. 12 is close to 1500 feet in hard shale. Drilling in very hard sand and sticky shale, the Wonder Oil Co. is making some splendid time drilling on the Kraemer home place. The well started off with a 22 inch hole, he intention bling to go deep if necessary. Development work on the famous Chapman property took on a very encouraging tone last week. Especially good is the showing that some of the deep wells are making. No. 5 at 4040 is drilling in oil sand and looking good. No. 6 at 3100 feet is to be cemented and will set 8 inch. No. 7 at 4128 is drilling in brown sandy shale. No. 8 at 3300 is in the oil sand and showing good.
